    Swap DLSS with TAA in the Anti-aliasing setting. You will still be able to use Frame Generation, but the sim will look even better! It's especially noticeable when you look at water.

    @4secsharkmr352 Год назад +14

    Thanks for your video. The 4090 shines at higher resolution. Put the renderscale in Msfs to 130 or higher and you will see that the GPU gets over 50% and the FPS are rising. In VR I get 2 times more FPS than with my 3090. Msfs is by the way not CPU bound. The problem is that only a few cores are used. It is not very good in multithreading. But that has nothing do do with the performance of the 4090.
    That card is like a turbo engine. It needs higher resolution. For example in VR
    In normal TAA or DLSS mode it is likely as fast as a 3090. DLSS 3 is not really efficient ATM and you definitely see any difference while flying.
    For 2D flying the card is absolutely not necessary. But essentially for VR flying.

    • @mikeydude750
      @mikeydude750 Год назад +3

      That still is a CPU bound, it's just a more difficult one to overcome as you can't just add more cores. Simulations just require high single-thread performance and large cache by the very nature of how they tie everything in to the simulation.

Ultra settings in my HP Reverb G2 is an absolutel marvel, I don't even use DLSS 3.0 as that's not supported in VR but of course you can still get synthetic frames through MSFS (ugly) and OpenXR reprojection or most probably with whatever VR base software you are using. MSFS really hasn't been CPU limited for years, in fact it moved away from being CPU bound back in DTG FSW when they took the FSX code and ported it to 64 bit and made it multi threaded and focused on pushing more onto the GPU. Asobo inhertited DTG's data and all the work they had done in the port and then built further on it for MSFS and replaced a ton of stuff as well.

    • @rockyjetproject1345
      @rockyjetproject1345 Год назад +1

      @@simcptmike I don’t own xplane but I still have P3Dv5.3 installed, I don’t have the heart to uninstall it as FSX also. I did a flight on P3D and I was getting frames from 68-73 on the ground with almost all sliders max. Graphic wise it was maxed. I don’t know how xplane runs but FSX and P3d are very, very CPU intensive as is FS2020. I should have mentioned that I also got a 13 gen I9-13900k cpu. I had a 12th gen i9-12900k cpu and when I installed the card, the CPU was weak against the 4090 and it was bottlenecking the CPU. Now, with the 13th gen, it’s the opposite. The CPU is too powerful for the 4090 which is what we want that way the card can use it’s maximum capability graphic wise. Before the 13th gen upgrade, my card was at a cooling 42c, never got hot and I found that odd. Well, it turns out it wasn’t using its full capability because of the 12th gen CPU. I upgraded the 13th gen so that I could have 60fps lock and literally unlocked I get like 80fps on the ground and like 122-130 in the air but I lock my sims. If xplane is CPU intensive like past and present sims, your going to have to get the 13gen cpu along with the 4090. It’s like the 13gen was built for the 4090 and future GPU. It’s a powerhouse of a CPU and if I had great FPS with p3d, like no other time in flight sim history, I’m 99.9% sure xplane will run very very good especially since xplane is a newer program and coding than p3d and FSX. On MSFS2020, I did a test. Without AI generation and DX12 activated on fs2020 , regular DX 11 with TAA instead of DLSS 3and everything on Ultra maxed except terrain LOD I set at 300 instead of 400 even AI traffic with planes, airport vehicles, workers etc, I was running a smooth butter 30 fps locked. Now I have it locked at 60 fps and it’s smooth as butter. I also set p3d to 55 fps locked and it’s smooth as butter also. In short, I honestly think the 4090 will do wonders for xplane also but I recommend to get the 13gen cpu with it or if you use AMD, research which is equivalent as I do not know AMD. I recommend locking your fps also as it really really helps. This the is the build that gives me exactly what I want for flight sim and it’s not disappointing at all. Pricey but very very worth it. I won’t have to upgrade anymore for any flight sim payware add on , airports, planes until they make the new Microsoft simulator which will be in like 15-20 years. I only changed the cpu and the card, everything else stayed the same. These are my specs if it helps.
      13th Gen i9-13900k Raptor Lake intel
      Zotac 4090 RTX

      OLOY DDR5 RAM 32gb
      Kraken Z73 RGB water cooler
      Samsung 980 Pro 2tb SSD x 2

      Everything on this spec is 9 months old except the CPU and GPU, upgraded from 12th Gen i9-12900k to the 13th and the Zotac 3090 ti to the 4090.
      Also the 12th gen i9-12900k works very great hand in hand with the 3090ti

    A lot of movies show DLSS 3 and the frame boost it generates. Unfortunately, no one talks about the issues with DX12, DLSS 3, and Nvidia Frame Generation. When using aircraft such as the Fenix A320, PMDG 737, or even the JPLogistic Cessna 152, the scenery textures fall apart, particularly at airports. Fenix's technical support made it clear that they are aware of the issue, but it is due to DX12 (beta) and DLSS 3. I believe they are right about this. Additionally, DLSS 3's sharpness is far from what we get with TAA.

    With the ever-rising cost of energy in the UK, I'm priced out of the higher-end GPUs even before the price of buying the thing comes into the equation. I simply cannot afford to game with high-end gear. I have to go with lower-end or mid-range gear that gets the most bang for it's buck.
    With that said, DLSS3 looks just the ticket for MSFS, and I'm seriously considering upgrading to maybe a 4060 from my current 3070 (pending reviews and benchmarks of course).
    I would not especially care if every other game saw very little improvement on a 4060 over my 3070. All I would really care about would be what DLSS3 did for performance in MSFS, both pancake and in VR. If a 4060 or 4060Ti could give me perhaps double the fps in MSFS using DLSS3, and could do it for minimal, if any, extra power draw than my 3070 currently is sucking, then I'm in.

    I use a 4K Samsung 55 inch tv as monitor, and it has a refresh rate of 60 Hertz a 4 K resolution, so all fps above 60 is actually overkill .
    I have set VSync on at half refresh rate in the Nvidia panel, and frame generation on in msfs using DLSS3 , so get 60 fps, but more important , my power use of the 4090 drops by a give or take 100 Watts and still get butter smooth flying , temp and % also drops with all settings at ultra

    As an Xbox player, I'm envious about such a smooth framerate, but only until I think about the completely outlandish price tag on these PCs as well as the high power consumption. 30 fps in MSFS on Xbox might be jerky and low, but I hope the next Xbox will be able to run it at 60 fps with similarly affordable price and economical operation.

    the ghosting in "high terrain passing speed" situations (on ground level/ near ground level) is completely inacceptable for me , i have disabled this feature. also with gsync at ~70 fps to me it feels exactly as smooth as when i have ~150fps with framegen enabled. so no benefit but the artifacts as a big drawback.
    what some have said in the forums is that framegen introduces an input lag. i cannot confirm or deny this. but i guess it has to be tested with a very responsive flight model like the su-31 or the pitts s2s to notice a difference.

    I was previously using a gtx 1080 seahawk which is a GPU that comes with a waterblock from the factor, I lost that GPU due to a power surge, but when I used the GPU my rackmounted case would barely close it's lid as in it buldges where the inlet/outlet of the waterblock is.
    I found a waterblock that moves the inlet/outlet ports to the rear of the GPU. What I'm using is a rackmounted case, and I'm currently u R7800 GPU that's 10 years of age with a 9900k.
