Thank you for all the support and kind words I've received across my videos, they really make my day. I'm glad to have so much positivity and inspiration around me. "ALIVE" symbolises my gratitude to you; I've worked on this video for half a year and I'm happy of how it turned out, it will stay my best one yet for quite some time. What's next for me? I think I'll take another break until October 6th, the third anniversary of the channel where I will talk about how things have been on the platform and, as usual, how I've been feeling as a person. The next DOCs I'd love to make are on AoT, Akira, Berserk (when it's complete) and many other stories, just know that it'll take a very long time. Unfortunately the pixel-y stuff in this video is YT's fault. Anyway if you have any questions about Fire Punch feel free to ask me, I'll try to answer them.

This video is a masterpiece. The storytelling, the visuals, the editing, and everything else is on point. Fire Punch is a phenomenal series, made even better through your thoughts on it. The algorithm better catch this, because you need to get more popular already, you seriously deserve it. I'll continue looking forward to whatever you come out with next!

This is a true work of passion, showing respect to a highly underrated story piece about
    Love
    Death
    Guilt
    Forgiveness
Continuing on in the face of tragedy…
    And Star Wars.

This is a must watch for those who have any doubt at all with Fire Punch.
The absurdity of the manga will surely set some people astray, but the way this video puts things into perspective will give you answers AND more.
Thank you for the video Oneiric. This has provided me a few more layers of comprehension and appreciation towards Fire Punch!

Wow I’m so glad you liked this one, your thoughts especially mean a lot! And if I enriched your view on the story it only makes me happier!
I think the absurdity and apparent lack of direction are not for everybody, but they’re part of Fujimoto’s magic and honestly it’s not that hard to get used to them. It’s just a different perspective and way to experience both life and fiction.
Yes, this story is fiction. Fujimoto reminds us in the last note from the final volume that “This work is fiction.” or is it another lie? :p thank you Moon 👊🔥

You’re not late ahah my main objective with this video was to make people feel emotions so I’m glad it was an experience for you and I’m so happy you appreciated that part, it’s very unsettling and dark. My favourite is probably Togata’s death. I had my doubts on if I should make it sad or heroic… at the end I went for the latter so the Star Wars music really goes strong in that part. Thank you very much for sticking around!!

I really hate this manga, it's terrible, but interestingly it represents what is wrong with people consuming art in modren times. It's a story about nothingness, which seems deep to the same demographic who's impressed with Evangelion and Monster for example. A value of a story depends on the meaning behind it, the message in Fire Punch is that revenge burns you down in fire until no feature of you remain, you turn into ash, which is in meaning what the protagonist said in the first chapter when the village was burning. revenge and how it really doesn't change anything, and if revenge comes after a long time, the person who wants revenge would be separated from anything except their goal, kinda like the story of God Of War, more or less. What really killed the story for me was actually the message in itself, and the fact that they introduced a clone of his sister so he could pretend that it's her and die together in each other's arms, as a sort of redemption. This is the biggest waste of a story, people who like these types of stories are just in love with what I call "reverse art", which is art that is concerned with the instruments more than the meaning these instruments convey.
If the sister didn't die in the first chapter, and if it was not a revenge tale, with some terrible romantic theme, it would've been great, wasted potential.

    • @OneiricYT
      @OneiricYT  10 месяцев назад +3

You can find value even in stories that don’t have much of a meaning, if any at all, like BLAME! You could simply enjoy its dystopian desolation or maybe find in the restless climb of the protagonist a metaphor for the hardships life puts you through, if you really wanted to.
I personally enjoyed Fire Punch and Evangelion, the latter subtly talks about the escapism of the main character, although the storytelling can feel directionless. I haven’t read Monster so I can’t speak about that.
Fire Punch has more than one meaning.
The revenge motive, as explained plentifully in the video, is only apparent, a plot device to keep the story moving onward. Agni is a very immature individual who lives in a dystopian world, who used to share every single moment of his existence with his sister, before she died. Naturally he would make it his life’s purpose to get his revenge against the killer. However the more the story progresses, and it is documented in the interviews as well, the clearer it becomes that said revenge was only the tip of the iceberg, a reason Agni gives himself not to give his life up.
Agni is depressed and empty, in search of a flame to warm himself around, something to burn for. He doesn’t fully appreciate those around him like Togata and eventually puts his own egoistic desires before them. His depression, after Togata’s death, which is completely his fault, leads him to live in a self-created delusion, just think how depressed he was and how clueless as well, remember that Agni is an ignorant boy in the body of a man, he is not emotionally mature.
Ultimately he even changes identity. Here comes another theme, in addition to depression: identity. Togata is a man in a female body; Agni doesn’t know who he is. Is he a brother, therefore an avenger? A superhero/God? (the entire superhero figure is destroyed and reconstructed by Fujimoto in this story) Is he a friend? Is he an actor?(the cinema metaphor is brilliant) Is he Sun? And is it Judah or Luna?
Depression, identity. I think these two should be enough, the meanings are: “don’t give up” and “be/find yourself”. And then you have the critique on religion/education that highlights how important it is to be educated.
Even if those meanings didn’t satisfy you, or you don’t see them in the story, certain other elements make the manga worthy.
Again, the revenge motive is only illusory, the substance of the story lies deeper.
I think Fujimoto truly fooled you.
