I have the 2020 M1 Macbook Pro. And a Mac Mini M1 Silicon. Batery life on the M1 Macbook Pro is amazing.
The last MacBook I bought new was the last intel 2020 MacBook Pro, like you mentioned in your video it was around $1700. Not to mention I purchased it late in the year just a month or so before the M1 announcement. When apple dropped apple silicon I was so mad. I swore off macbooks until 2023 when I finally sold that $1700 machine for $450 dollars. I have since bought and sold/traded various used macbooks to get to what I use now the M2 MacBook Air. I love apple silicon, but I learned my lesson with buying new laptops... never again!
Glad to see you've joined the "buy slightly used" club! Too bad you learned that lesson hard. Thanks for watching and thanks taking the time to share your experience!
MacBook Air any M series, just for the battery life.
MBA, for the long run more consistent power, the i5 will age faster even with 16GB of RAM
I would go with the M1 Air.
Thanks! But you forgot the “why”.
@@FamilyGeekery I think it will have longer support from Apple. As you mentioned, you've enjoyed your experience with it. That M1 processor is something else along with great battery life. Unless you have a reason for Bootcamp or gaming, the M1 seems like it will last longer.
@KadMac25 Great point. Although they were built in the same year, I’m sure macOS development moving forward will be leaning towards Apple Silicon.
One difference is the speaker quality MacBook Pro has better speakers than that of Macbook Air
Great point. They have always had the best speakers on the Pro's. Didn't mention that in the video, so thanks for adding that here!
Yep, easy decision. M1 Air.
I actually owned both of these computers, one after the other, during grad school. The M1 Air blew the MBP out of the water in terms of heat, fan noise, and battery life at a fraction of the cost. Easy decision.
Thanks for the confirmation! I’ve been a long time MacBook user, and it takes my brain a minute to digest the “air” destroying the “pro” lol. Thanks for watching!
Do you mean the m1 is better?
@@ajibadesegun-jk4wt Way better.
@@Michelangelo94so what about the same two laptops, but both have the M1? Same choice? Air over Pro?
@@mrwes21 Yeah I’d take the Air because it’s lighter and doesn’t have the pointless Touch Bar. The performance is nearly identical.
