- In the final installment of the Dashboard December series, I cover the exterior views on my Mushroom Cards dashboard, as well as the Information view. There's plenty of YAML to go around as I also wrap-up some odds-n-ends items that just didn't have a good fit in previous videos.
Thank you SO much for all your support in 2023, and I look forward to seeing all of you again in 2024. Have a great New Year!

Another great video! I'll have to rewatch the entire series again as I'm still implementing most of it. Thanks for the great videos! Keep up the good work! Looking forward to what you have planned in 2024! Especially the audio setup.
Thanks! I'm glad to hear you are finding the series useful and informative. I'm really looking forward to the audio setup as well. It's been on my to-do list for a LONG time, but I kept putting it off and putting it off - mostly because the cable management is a joke at best, so it's nowhere NEAR camera-ready, but also because I need to make a few small improvements to the way I'm handling it so that it's ready for the world. That, and it really is a VERY big topic to cover. So big, in fact, that I might end up splitting it into two videos! Haven't decided just yet. I guess I'll start filming and see what I come up with. Thanks for watching, and have a great new year!
Great series! We think a lot alike I see. LOL Very interested to see more and hear about your home audio. Also the cameras you chose. Planning a Spring install myself. I can't wait! Thanks again!😁
Thank you! I just finished assembling the shelving to organize all my receivers yesterday. Need to move them onto the shelving from the temporary location they've been in for the past 2 years, and reorganize the wiring so I can actually properly trace it and show it on camera for the series. It should be pretty sweet.
I really need to give the code another once-over after I do that, too. I think there might be an easier way to accomplish what I already put together, and remember - KISS! :)
Thanks for watching!
@@fasthowto ohhh, I thought you had them installed already. Been planning out a new install for the last couple years. New build that we just started on last month. The house will be fully automated and whole house audio. Speakers in like 80% of the rooms and back yard. Also cameras all around. It’s all in the preparation. Setting up my HA server so it will be ready to add all the new devices to. (Def using your mobile dashboard idea. Love it!) Funny thing is, I just realized a few minutes ago that I followed your washer/dryer tutorial last year as we have the LG’s as well. Best W/D we ever owned. Anyway, good luck! Subscribed now and will keep watching. We appreciate you!
BTW, have used the Kasa Light Switches for years. Totally worth it. Now looking for a volume distributor for our new build. Lots and lots of new switches. Need to talk to our electrician to see if he could meet us in the middle as they will be installing new switches anyway. We’ll see.
@bearclawcrypto3136 I do have them installed. Have had for years. But they are a mess, and TOTALLY not presentable in a video. When I say their "temporary" location... Temporary has been 2 years. LOL Just had other higher-priority projects around the house. The solution "works", but the receivers/wiring aren't pretty. If I'm gonna share them with the world, they need to be "pretty". LOL
The speakers and all that are installed and pretty, guests think it's great. One other thing I did was put volume knobs on the walls in every room - which you'll need to do anyway if you have more than 2 speakers on a given channel. For example, if you have 4 speakers in one room instead of only one. I used these: amzn.to/3vxMPyD
There's a little switch on each one that you can set to change the impedance depending on the number of speakers on the channel so you do burn up the amp. This model supports up to 8 speakers on a single channel, and includes different colored faceplates and knobs.
I like having these since I can set the volume at whatever I want on the receiver, and lower it on the wall. For example, if I'm in the kitchen cooking, and the music is blasting - but then my wife comes in and needs to ask me something quick, she can just spin the knob a bit, and then turn it right back up. No need to get to the right screen in HA.
It's also SUPER convenient for when you're having a party. Set the volume across the house however you want initially, and then guests can turn it down if they find it too loud to have a conversation.
👍👍👍💯
Thank you! :)
Do you know how you could make an icon flash using the Mushroom Chips? I would like an icon to flash at the top when a door is unlocked, just so it draws attention to it more than just being red :)
I've seen videos of people animating cards, but I can't remember if they animated chips or not. I've personally not found that feature to be "important" enough that I wanted to go to the trouble of coding it all, but - long way of saying that if you can animate the icon, you can probably make it flash, too. Not sure how, but it can probably be done.
One thought that did actually just come to me, that I should probably do as well to "declutter" my dashboard - you can hide chips using conditional cards. So that way, if the leak sensor is dry or the door is closed or whatever, don't show the chip. If it's wet/open/etc, show it. I actually use this for two chips on my main page that I didn't show in this series, for trash and recycling. The integration I'm using for that is deprecated and no longer supported, so I didn't really dig into in the series since I don't think you can even download/install it anymore. But it kept working throughout the upgrades, so I'm gonna leave it alone for now. Hope this idea helps!
You are doing great and the content is awesome
Carry on dear
But none of your videos does SEO. SEO is the most important to rank a video on RUclips's top and get organic engagements for a lifetime. So it would help if you fix this to get the organic result.

I liked the super cool bit of info and your shoulder parrot! 🦜
