  • An example setup for 2 JK BMSs controlling 280ah 48v batteries. I will create another more detailed video soon with narration to replace this one.

You've left things on a cliff hanger.
It would be good if you provide detailed reproducible and accessible information on this which you demonstrated and alluded to.

My intent was to show that batmon does, indeed, work perfectly fine for multiple JK BMSs when set up properly. The settings are shown in the video, you can pause and see the individual settings. I did not write batmon, it is not my product, but it is irritating to me to see it treated badly simply because somebody does not understand how to use it.

To be honest I too have been using batmon but my experience is that of inconsistencies.
Like not displaying the soc or total voltage from the BMS to going unavailable to the point I have to restart batmon. Which only fixes the unavailability.

Great information. How were you able to add multiple devices to your MQTT? I currently have one device(axpert multiphase inverter by voltronic)setup in MQTT. I can’t seem to find a way to add the bmss that are being connected in batmon.

If you are using the Mosquitto Addon in HA, then BatMon will automatically add the devices into MQTT. If you are not using the HA MQTT then you need to configure BatMon to know where the MQTT broker is, and username/password/port for it. To see those config options, click the "Show unused optional configuration options" button at the bottom of the BatMon configuration page.

Thanks for your help. With your help I finally got it working. I didn’t realize I had to bridge the solar assistant broker with the ha mosquitto broker then use the ha mosquitto broker as the main broker for both solar assistant and batmon. Thanks again

Thanks for sharing. Do you connect Bluetooth directly from your home assistant host or is there hardware in between?

Now I see it in the last 15 seconds of the video. Looking forward to more details.

Hi Dave. I have several boards that I have designed to talk to a variety of inverters and BMSs. In this video, the inverter is a PowMr 6.2kw single phase 230V which is commonly used here in the Philippines. Unfortunately, this inverter has no RS485 or CANBus communications, only RS232. The communications is done by the Dave board over RJ45 wire to the inverter and over WiFi to Home Assistant. This board works also with MPP brand inverters. I also have RS485 ModBus and CANBus boards for other inverterrs and BMSs.

@@DavidPrueI saw your comments on the off grid garage and was interested in more information on your Dave boards. I did some googling but came up empty

@@ice69man2010 Yes, there are only a handful in use, I did not develop them as a product, I am a retired firmware engineer and I designed them because I had a need myself. A few others have expressed need as well, and I have given boards to them to help them in their efforts.
