DNSMasq? If you're going to do a DNS server, why wouldn't you do ad blocking at the same time? Adguard home for the win!

Because as a creator who makes a dollar or two from advertisements in my content, I see no need to mess with anyone else's revenue streams. It's just as easy for me to ignore the advertisements on the side of a page - and if a web page is so poorly designed that I can't focus on the content because of the number and placement of the ads they've chosen to include, then they don't deserve my traffic anyway. There are plenty of other sources of information.
Having said that, I don't begrudge anyone else for wanting to block advertisements. Whatever works best for you, it's your setup. There is no "right" answer, only "right for me/you".
