The Charger...a weapon that has an interesting concept but poor implementation finally became a good implementation. The Arbalest...a weapon that has a horrible concept and even worse implementation became a slightly less bad implementation.
yeah I honestly don't care about these updates for the charger. Unless they allow the gun to at least use a suppressor I don't really care. That gun is meant to be used as an ambusher gun so this is the gun that would benefit the most out of any primary ever. They just really skimped on the attachments for this gun (limited optic choices, only one mag choice, and no muzzles at all). Man it's like, I really wanted to like this gun too. I was hyped for the new faction type guns especially this one. It's probably the best looking nc carbine with the stock and the curved gen3 pmag like mag. Plus the gun looks real good with black camo. From the beginning as a guy who has mostly used the 11c, this seemed like a direct competitor and I was not impressed at all. The 11c pretty much has all the bells and whistles. While the charger with the charge rounds being literally the only reason why'd you use it at all.
All arbalest needs in order to feel functional is the ability to enter/exit ADS mid-burst. The number of times I needed that tiny bit of movement to exit an engagement or ADS after pre-firing from the hip often changed the outcome of a 1v1. May be a limitation of the script to be able to correct this (hence why they haven't?) but its the soul reason it feels clunky to use and is the only thing about it that needs addressing.
Couldn't agree more mate, this is an issue you find on all burst fire weapons so as you say, I think there might be something creating that limitation that RPG haven't been able to work around yet. But I 100% agree.
The Arbalest was actually my first auraxiumed weapon. Definitely not a meta weapon but these changes are a step in the right direction for making it better
I dream of an Arbalest with much higher ROF during burst trading off with longer pause between bursts to maintain the same overall rate of fire (thus, the same theoretical TTK). That way, the rifle have more of a "tempo" to it. If the rounds spit out much faster during a burst, there's less time for the recoil to move your aim around so headshots can be more consistent. Longer pause means more fault-tolerant too. A lot of players struggle to mentally process the fast loop of aim-recoil compensation-aim-recoil compensation. A slower tempo to each burst will help lowering the skill floor a bit while keeping the skill ceiling the same (no change to theoretical TTK).
I saw the Arbalest buffs in the patch notes, and immediately logged in to give it a try. Since I have the ASP perk for engineer to use assault rifles, I popped it in my Engy's primary slot and went to town, and... I fell in love with it. I never got the hang of it before because it was practically a shotgun with the spread, making it useless outside of 10-20 meters in my opinion at the time. Now, it's just stable enough to get quick kills in a mere burst or two at 50m+ with the right attachments. I was doing so well with it that dozens of people messaged me asking if the Arbalest had been buffed (clearly having missed the patch notes) from all three factions. Yes, it *could* be even better, but with the amount of power that it has in my hands now, I don't feel like it *needs* to be better, and honestly I feel like it's very fair for it to have the spread it does, since it can easily down a target with, what, three hits to the head? It would have the most ridiculous TTK in the game at 50m+ if it was even more accurate than it is, and that's completely unnecessary. It feels just right to me. And I have to say, I wasn't using it as a CQC AR. I tossed a 3.4x scope, the rotor and grip with the Impact Ammo on, and was able to laugh at distant return fire while mowing enemies down from hilltops, towers, distant vantage points and more. It actually shines *more* in long range firefights now than in CQC with the Impact Ammo capping its minimum damage output, and it can compete with snipers for the first kill in a long range duel. It is still janky, but not so much that it's impossible to use at long range. Basically, I use it the same way I use the SABR, and have been getting even better results and faster kills with the Arbalest now. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding of the effect of Impact Ammunition is that, with a 125 damage model at close range, and the IA "increasing the weapon's minimum damage from 100 to 125", the weapon essentially has no damage falloff at all.
Arbalest got a raw deal before the buff and still is lacking due to it's peashooter damage profile. As Cami said you need to be an head clicker with it or it is weak compared to the other two faction equivelents which are more viable options in my opinion.
To those who watch this video post-2022 Arsenal Update, the Charger now always deals 167 damage and the reload boost now affects the rate of fire. The first 7 shots now fire at a rate of fire of 652 RPM, with 600 RPM after those rounds, so you get AF-19 performance up to 38 meters (the AF-19's medium and long range are slightly better). The Charger is still nowhere near as good as the TR's Kindred which has the same rate of fire boost, but is activated upon a new burst (which can take less than a fifth of a second) and the rate of fire boost itself is 698 RPM. It also has 5 more rounds. The drawback? Slightly less muzzle velocity, very slightly longer reload time unless you use the extended mags on the Charger for an equal 30 rounds (in which case, the Charger takes longer), slightly less accuracy which doesn't matter when you do a 7 round burst, and the rate of fire is 550 RPM after the first 7 which again doesn't matter if your are even half competent since you just have to let go of the trigger and immediately fire again. My overall judgement of the Charger: It has theoretically better performance than any other full auto 167 damage weapon, matching the legendary Cyclone SMG, but with longer range. Is it worth 1000 certs? Not quite. It's a minimal buff from the AF-19 in terms of DPS, but is far less modular. Give the gun another buff somewhere and then you have a really solid weapon worth the certs.
If you're using the Arbalest you might aswell rock the Incendiary launcher. It's just too much fun, adds more gimmick to the gimmick gun you've chosen to play already.
Here some ideas for the arbalest: Increase the maximum damage 125@10 to 143@10 Increase the muzzle velocity 580 to 600 With this buffs makes the arbalest more viable in close/mid range fight, the damage of 143 in 6 rounds makes better in a cqc fight what give you the capacity for deal with more targets per mag and the velocity of 600 makes the arbalest better in the role of support/mid fight weapon, cause seriously why in the heck you the arbalest if you have the sarb, cycler s or the yumi? At less with the new speed can be a option in this category.
I think that the Arbalest need to be a 167 damage model automatic gun, it should be an alternative to the SABR after all... IMO we could get some weird gimmick with RoF, to indicate the use of rotary guns... Like, make it start at 577 RoF, same as the NC gauss rifle s, but in time make its RoF get to 633 after like the first 5 or 6 bullets... TLDR a similar weapon to NC gauss rifle with some nice gimmick, i mean, NC got a gun very similar to the t1 cycler, TR should get something too
I actually found the charger one of the easier auraxiums. For me, the nice recoil, bloom and damage profile did it for me. I use it still now even when I have it auraxed over other carabines. Plus it doesn't sound like every other carabine so that's a nice plus.
Maybe it's been changed since this review but the Arbalest with the right attachment is a mid-far mid laser beam! Only a tiny bit of recoil and bloom at end of burst. With a 3.4x scope this thing is one of the best weapons in the game for hitting running far-mid targets. Lead just a little and they will run into or right thru the middle of your burst. It's also excellent at choke points where you only see little pieces of an enemy like their foot or head. You WILL get killed close with it, but at the right situations and ranges the Arbalest with a 3.4x will drop people before they even know what happened. A 6 shot burst with a few headshots at the tail of burst is enough to 1 kill burst anybody close enough and 2 burst anyone else, and that's 2 burst with no headshots. It destroys the Lacerta btw.
I have auraxed this weapon twice, with %45 HSR on my last attempt and decided that its not worth it. I also finally figured out why it doesn't work and the other burst rifles do. Arbalest would work if the weapon had the more horizontal stability to minimize random deviances but more importantly, have a higher in-burst RPM like 1100-1200 to keep the required target tracking time to a minimum. This is how the other two d0ku ARs function and it seems to work out well for them. Vanquisher has a 600 RPM 200 damage burst and Lacerta has a 1000 RPM 167 damage burst. Arbalest's 923 RPM for 125 damage (slower TTK than lacerta in CQC) is just not competitive in comparission. This would also reduce the time you spend in ADS, making you less of a sitting duck.
I recently got the auraxium medal for the Charger. It's a solid weapon IMO, especially with the extra mag slot for a faster reload, maximizing its gimmick uptime.
@@violenceandpoetry you wrote "mag slot".... The mag slot on the charger are the extra 5 rounds in cost of reload time...The ammo belt is something different, I use this on my own with the charger, its fun asf. So we were just misunderstanding^^
This reminds me of the time when Trap-M1 first came out, I always thought that the feature for the TR Trap-M1 is that it can fire in burst of 3 and 2 round with a recoil of single shot that only comes after the end of the burst. Meaning the first 2 shot, or 1 shot, have little to literally no recoil until it finish its burst. Imagine my disappointment though. The sound for the Trap M1 is awesome but had to be done dirty like that.
A solution to the max “problem” would be to make it so you have to acquire a more rare currency. It doesn’t auto refill, you’d have to harvest x amount of something at drill sites or whatever. But that way you can play max but it would take some real effort to gain access.
I don't really use the arbalest for CQC I find its way better at medium to long range with the 3.4x or 4x scope. Its strangely accurate at the range if you ain't around the neck and the let recoil do its thing. Most people at that range don't expect the 6 bullets in the head awhile theyre sniping.
Should be 550/200 with a drop to 167... there's just not enough justification in using a cyclone that turns into crap so quickly when you can just use a bandit that stays a bandit. Only reason to equip the charger is for the skin...
The arb is great imo, I was doming people left and right with it just yesterday. But the charger, in my heart, will always be the bottom of the barrel. I’d rather use the NS weapons over it, just for the laser beams over the magazine memes.
If you want to make the arbalest competitive in any regard whilst maintaining the gimmicky nature of Doku guns, my solution would be to make it a 3 round burst, with 2 pellets per shot, totalling 6 pellets across the full burst. Would immediately put it into a spot where its far easier to balance the actual damage profile of it, whilst also retaining the "SABR but modified" concept that the flavor text puts across. I also think giving it the horizon treatment of 0,0,0,0 (perfect CoF) could make for an interesting twist for an assault rifle, and would perfectly land it into a CQC role
I've been using the Arbalest before and after the buff. It falls behind a lot of the available weapons but it's damn fun to use. You just don't pick 1v1s with it, you have to be opportunistic and either flank people or finish them off. I mean, it IS a medic weapon after all.
there's zero reason to use the arbalest still, especially when the TAR/TRV exist. It should've been more along the lines of a kindred style AR than what it is, it's just fundamentally redundant at best
I like the arbalest, it fills a nische that is on medium range defense and offanse with a Granatelauncher as absolute acurate support weapon with a medium range killing advantage, but sucks att all other situations badly.
If you were to completely empty a mag to 0 it will trigger a long reload instead of the short. You'll always get the short reload providing you have at least 1 bullet left in the mag
With the Arbalest, I would have been happy if they just added the normal under barrel launcher attachment options. I have over 5000 hours in the game and have only died my incendiary rounds a couple of times. It's basically a useless option, that comes off as more annoying than anything else. Would prefer grenade launcher personally, but even smoke or sensor darts would still be more useful than incendiary rounds.
This really helps those weapons. Their novelty is fresh air as it helps show some divergence in the factions' traditional arsenal. I am surprised you didn't mention the TORQ-9 for CQC combat. Its RoF is good for close range
How the hell are you running so fast? I just came back to the game after years not playing and it is such a strange feeling that everyone is seamingly oneshotting me and not taking damage. :D Was this game always like that?
will you talk about prowlers being overpowered? or were those topics already spoken about, just keeen to hear your thoughts or ill catch you in ur next live stream hah! Cheers to a good vid keep it up Cami!
@@RitzPerera Well now youve asked i would reconsider saying not overpowered but a bit better against all MBTs? already I'm not sure but their hesh spam and fighting capabilities(lockdown mode) against other faction main battle tanks is at higher advantage with special ability except the vanguard. Against Magriders and Chimera its practically merely winning side. Not saying I saw the most but well with a whole platoon of lightnings we couldn't take down three of them haha prolly we were bad, but yeah w magriders its really difficult n too with chimeras. And I forgot about TR's esfs having that pesky banshee! haha idk if it always was that easy to get kills with it but damn I've seen a lot tr farming with it now but I wont say I'm a og player or a good player. Just other better players told me how people kinda switch factions for these reasons so I just asked cami if he could put out his opinion because I've tried finding statistics but kinda not sure where I'm going wrong, itd be nice if even not him but someone else talks about it just in the comments like I said live stream or just in comments would be nice to help me understand. Cheers tho to those amazing tank players
Was tempted to complain about it not being enough for the Charger to take it into Kindred tier, but then I realized I really just feel Kindred is outright too good. So maybe the Charger change was fine and they should just reduce the Kindred (ideally so the multiple on-demand bursts per mag give it slightly worse TTK than the one set of overcharged shots the Charger gets). While I don't die to Kindred users a lot (mostly due to its strange lack of popularity), whenever I take the weapon on my TR char it feels outright unfair how fast it crushes targets relative to other carbines. Interesting to hear your take on Arbalest. I would think that if it's a CQC oriented gun that now _fires super smooth_ well...usually that means it's now outright broken (ie it's amazing at CQC _and also amazing out to midrange and possibly longer._ ). Honestly the single biggest balance issue in BF2042 was an SMG that had too little recoil, allowing you to get its high DPS well beyond intended range. I definitely look forward to getting back into PS2 at some point to try out this change, since several burst-fire weapons in PS2 are just _ridiculously_ good at long range fights yet remain mysteriously unpopular weapons (the Solstice and Gauss carbines in particular are amazing)
Watching you do the hopping around towers gun play made me think why can't leaders get special squad leader/platoon leader abilities, was thinking how annoying it is to fight people like that and would be nice if the squad leader could activate a base tower ability that would send out a shock wave that knocks all enemies off of the tower. Wouldn't work if their is a generator going down or is dead but would be nice to clear the tower so that defenders could get back on their feet so to speak. Any ways that's my 2 cents.
Don't you love reading the comments about their thoughts about the gun Then relize you have no thoughts about any weapon and you go by the mentality of "haha weapon go brrrrrr"?
well, the charger is still absolut trash, a bit reloading speed dosnt change anyting. Sry but i will play and prefer the GD or the mercanary. If they would have delete the special mechanic of the charger and let them have 167 dmg in all bullets, maybe i would use them but only 167 bullets in the first 7 bullets is complete trash. Mercanary have 167 ddmg, 30mag, awesome accuracy and a high fire rate. and the GD-7f would only deal 143dmg BUT have an absolut heavy high firerate from over 800 and a pretty solide accuracy and handling. So i have after that change not one reason to use the charger. Sry but waste of time to change that weapon only by reloading speed.
Arbalest still shit, not much to say about it other than that... Arbalest, a name that should have be given to an hard hitter and instead we got a pea shooter... Fucking atrocious... Shame on the designer that come up with it... They can try to buff it as much as they want it will remain a shit weapon until it get completely reworked as a fully automatic 167 damage for TR... Hell, look at how many kills Camikaze managed to score in this video, and it is the """improved""" version...

I love the arbalest. It’s like a cross between a battle rifle and a shotgun.
I've been using the Arbalest before and after the buff. It falls behind a lot of the available weapons but it's damn fun to use. You just don't pick 1v1s with it, you have to be opportunistic and either flank people or finish them off. I mean, it IS a medic weapon after all.
being a medic weapon doesn't mean you leave off as many engagements as possible lol, cycler/trv/tar are all hugely competitive weapons
there's zero reason to use the arbalest still, especially when the TAR/TRV exist.
Opinions on the charger with the new ammunition belt that reduces reload times?
Absolutely not worth it, at that point you are fighting against the weapon's nature which isn't the way to go imo.
The Arbalest has always been fantastic. I never understood the hate against it
Now if they would just add a flamethrower heavy weapon for infantry, I can purge heretics in holy fire.
I love the charger, my favorite besides the ax-11
If I understood this correctly (I for sure didnt), Cami's favourite gun is now the Arbalest! :P
Nice to see the Charger is more usable now. Has the Promise also seen a buff?
It has not, and I don't think the Promise needs a buff personally.
Well well well if it isn't it the solution to my boredom
Happy to be of help mate!
Arbalest is niche rifle. Glad to see it getting buff.
You want a coffee? I want a coffee.
What is long reload?
The Charger might as well just be a 7 shot burst rifle tbh.
will you talk about prowlers being overpowered? or were those topics already spoken about, just keeen to hear your thoughts or ill catch you in ur next live stream hah! Cheers to a good vid keep it up Cami!
How or why Prowler is op?
Cheers tho to those amazing tank players
guess i missed it in the patch notes, thnx Cami
Anytime mate!
a comment to please our almighty overord with engagement to feed the algorithm!
Arbalest is still kinda bad. Usable for sure but it's not good. Give it a 143 damage model and it will perform.
But do you even Arbalest bruh? 💪
Again TR gets screwed over. No surprise!!!
The charger should be like the kindred but with 200 damage rather than firing faster
200 damage on a 652rpm firerate would not work, way too powerful given it's recoil pattern as well.
@@CAMIKAZE78 well change the fire rate and recoil of course
Watching you do the hopping around towers gun play made me think why can't leaders get special squad leader/platoon leader abilities, was thinking how annoying it is to fight people like that and would be nice if the squad leader could activate a base tower ability that would send out a shock wave that knocks all enemies off of the tower. Wouldn't work if their is a generator going down or is dead but would be nice to clear the tower so that defenders could get back on their feet so to speak. Any ways that's my 2 cents.
Way too powerful.
"120" field of view?
People think the Arbalest is bad? I was afraid of a Nerf.
Love the charger, my dirty pleasure. xD
Nice auraxed Charger pre buff😂
Don't you love reading the comments about their thoughts about the gun
Then relize you have no thoughts about any weapon and
you go by the mentality of "haha weapon go brrrrrr"?
well, the charger is still absolut trash, a bit reloading speed dosnt change anyting.
I will never use the charger its stats are too dumb even for nc
Arbalest still shit, not much to say about it other than that... Arbalest, a name that should have be given to an hard hitter and instead we got a pea shooter... Fucking atrocious... Shame on the designer that come up with it... They can try to buff it as much as they want it will remain a shit weapon until it get completely reworked as a fully automatic 167 damage for TR...
Hell, look at how many kills Camikaze managed to score in this video, and it is the """improved""" version...
meh charger is still trash gun
