Big River “Big Trouble” is IMO one of Eddie’s best solos. Pure 🔥
Dave is so much more clever with words, energy, humor and just more complimentary to Eddie than Sam
She’s the women is the burner on this one 🔥
You can hear how talented Wolf is on this album.
Whenever Dave & Ed wrote, it was Magic. Sam was great but Dave was Iconic. JMO but The Mighty Van Halen is Dave, Ed, Alex & Mike. Nice job by Wolf on this LP.
Dave is a poet! He has volumes and volumes of notebooks with lyrics, sayings, cool titles, etc. Roth calls it cross training!
Outta Space is the rocker on this album.
Been waiting for this one. Thank you!!! Some songs were new, and some were old ones never used. All bands do it. Regardless, it’s an amazing album and, for me, it’s one of their best. Love AS IS. It’s classic VAN HALEN..
You should react to the two songs DLR sang with Van Halen for the Best of Van Halen album in 1996. They are Me Wise Magic and Can't Get This Stuff No More. I think they are really good songs and a good bridge of DLR & Van Halen from 1984 to A Different Kind Of Truth. Also, the streaming numbers are going to be low for this album, because DLR had it taken off streaming services until just a few weeks ago.

Dave's lyrics are on fire with this album. Some of his best ever. His vocals are a little shaky here but his lyrics make up for it!

I think you may enjoy Alice In Chains when you're looking for something new. Nirvana get's most the hype of the grunge era but I think Alice In Chains is where it's at. Also, when you get the chance, check out Wolfgang's solo in Mammoth WVH's "Take A Bow." You'd swear Eddie is being channeled through the young fella...

Not sure if it was mentioned.. Headless body in a topless bar is a news paper headline about a guy who was found behead d in a strip joint back in the 70s.

Wow. I didn’t have any hope that you’d do this album, don’t know why. I totally forgot that there’s two videos from this album too. Tattoo and She’s The Woman.
And I listen to this record two or three times a week on average. SINCE 2012.
Dave’s references and Ideas come from far and wide. The colors he references are from Crayola colors. The midnight train to Georgia at 19th nervous breakdown and other things from you and your blues are from songs from all over the 60s and 70s that he’s lost larcenous. You should look up the videos where he talks about the album song by song those videos are on RUclips.

LARGO MARYLAND is much better my friend. US FESTIVAL is okay but they were wrecked, and Dave wasn’t good that particular night. I highly suggest it for you as well if you haven’t seen it.
The tour for A Different Kind of Truth was the highest grossing tour that year I believe and the best Van Halen had ever did. $95 million gross.

Was listening to this last night. To me, awesome album except for the first track.
I think Wolf did just fine providing the high harmony background vocals. He gave the songs 🎵 what we expect from a true VH album.
A lot of rthese songs were from the WB demo. 'Let's Get rockin' became 'Outta Space,' and sounds better, to me.

Sammy did not have the better voice.
The delivery is different but very generic. In fact, there are many better vocalists than Hagar, however none that of them would fit the Van Halen sound.
Roth was a better storyteller,he was soulful, original, bluesy,organic and more entertaining. He brought the fun to the music.
It’s the reason he fits perfectly with Van Halen’s brown sound and why classic Van Halen is timeless while Hagar material sounds dated.
David was right. He 'is' the best man to front VH. The chemistry forged from all those years and shows together from their beginnings cannot be recreated. It just is.

When I listen to Van Hagar, I feel like falling in love, getting married and buying a mini-Van.
When I listen Roth era VH, I feel like driving 100 mph in my stingray corvette, drinking a six pack of Budweiser, and making out with my stripper girlfriends!!!

It's sad that we all get old. And we all can tell by this point that Dave had lost his voice, but we can all agree that Eddie never lost any of his skill and talent! Other than tattoo, I didn't really enjoy any of the other songs on this album.
