While praying God had me go into the other room in my house . He had me open the window!! Only to see a man trying to steal a car from the lot of our house. Called 911 and that plan was stopped!!! To God be all the glory!!! I’ll never stop praying !!!

I loved people pray in tongues at the same time felt so discouraged hearing them speak in tongues, I felt like something was wrong with me, I developed the desire to seek God more in the area of speaking in tongues.I told God am tired of hearing others and now let it be me .I thank God He answered me .Live righteously and desire the Gift passionately,Pray with a purpose and from one word in tongues,to a sentence to a paragraph to hours of praying in tongues.

Thank you for the video about speaking in tongues. I was stuck. I would say on set of words and felt stuck. I was affaid to speak out around others because of a deliverance experience I had at my first family church. It was when I left that. I began to change in tonges I would feel the fire in my belly my tougne change. The church where I currently attend ,I am having spiritual experience with God where I improved alot. I just feel ready for the more of God. I was hearing my Bishop say we are praying for new levels in the tongue. I just kept on praying and talking to God about it. I do believe it is a combination of my Bishop praying and my praying and God directed me to this sermon on praying in tongues. In my house since last week. I have been learning to pray with out music I can hear myself clearly and God is work on me. Today I will say I made it to another level. In my edification with God. Thank you. I will continue to follow your messages. This is some of my story. What a glories day it is for Jesus. Thank you Jesus for stretching me. The power of the holy Ghost is real. I have it and I know that. I believe that through Christ I can do all things.

In Acts 2, "tongues" means "languages". When the "gift of languages" was "given", people of neighboring regions could hear, "the wonderful works of God" in their own native language. My question is: what is the language being spoken here in this place, and from what region does that language "hail" from?

Steve. vick yes, the gifts will cease when Christ returns in the end, but that is absolutely not clear enough to say they are ceased now. And the other two scripture you provided had nothing to do with it at all. If you reference scripture, you should expound it too

Steve. vick thank God it’s not gibberish, the book of acts and 1 Corinthians is clear about that. And with due respect, it doesn’t matter what you “think” the Bible says his ways and his thoughts are above ours, many times we do “think” and those thoughts are foolish compared to the ways of God. Read about tongues and see that it’s a spiritual gift, we aren’t supposed to understand how it works in our mind.

This verse in Romans is actually talking about something entirely different, not tongues. It's talking about an unutterable groan or moan from the Holy Spirit in a time when we do not know what to pray. Tongues is a gift from the Holy Spirit where we are uttering a language that we do not naturally know and we are talking to God and edifying our spirit.
Tongues as Jesus prescribed is the ability to speak on another language. This gift was given to the disciples so they could go out and bring the gospels to other nations. Lunatics and false preachers babbling and pretending to be speaking in tongues is nonsense. It is an abomination and completely disrespectful to Jesus.

There is nothing mysterious about Biblical "tongues" - when referring to something spoken, they are nothing more than real, rational language(s); perhaps unknown to those listening to them, but always known by the speaker(s) - it’s their native language.
If the history of the Pentecost movement is examined, one fact is very clear: at some point between 1906 and 1907, Pentecostal/Charismatic leaders were compelled to re-examine the narrative of Scripture with respect to “tongues”. The reason for this re-examination was that it quickly became embarrassingly obvious that their original supposition, xenoglossy, certainly wasn’t what they were producing.
This forced a serious theological dilemma - As a whole, either the Pentecostal movement would have to admit it was wrong about “tongues”, or the modern experience needed to be completely redefined. It seems the latter option was chosen.
The resulting implicit theology however was not a synthesis of revelation and philosophy, but rather a synthesis of trying to make sense of the modern “tongues experience” in light of the narrative of Scripture. A way to legitimize and justify the modern phenomenon by ‘proofing’ it in the Bible. The problem with this however, was an obvious overwhelming absence therein of anything resembling modern tongues. Call it what you will, but for this group of Christians, the result was a virtual re-definition of scripture with respect to the understanding and justification of modern “tongues”; a re-interpretation of select texts to fit the modern practice/connotation of what ”tongues” was perceived to be.
The plain fact however, is that the “tongues” Pentecostal and Charismatic Christians are producing today is an entirely self-created phenomenon. It is non-cognitive non-language utterance; random free vocalization based upon a subset of the existing sounds (phonemes) of the speaker’s native language, and any other language(s) the speaker may be familiar with or have had contact with. It is, in part, typically characterized by repetitive syllables, plays on sound patterns and over-simplification of syllable structure. One of the more noticeable results of these processes is that no two ‘speakers’ will ever have the same “tongue”.
With respect to the modern phenomenon, what Pentecostal/Charismatic Christians are doing today, 150 years ago, did not exist as a part of the Christian tradition.
People believe something to be supernatural because they can't explain it otherwise. There are, of course, many things in religion which must be taken on faith; they can neither be proved nor disproved. "Tongues" however, is not one of these things. It is something very tangible; it is a phenomenon which can be (and has been) studied and analyzed.
There is absolutely nothing that “tongues-speakers” are producing that cannot easily be explained in natural and/or linguistic terms.
Conversely, when it comes to something spoken, there are absolutely no Biblical references to “tongues” that do not refer to, and cannot be explained in light of, real rational language(s).
With respect to the concept of scriptural re-definition mentioned above, two of the best examples of this are the phrase “praying in the Spirit”, and the word “tongue(s)” itself.
Praying in the Spirit does not refer to the words one is saying. Rather, it refers to how one is praying. In the three places it is used (Corinthians, Ephesians, and Jude), there is absolutely zero reference to 'languages' in connection with this phrase. “Praying in the Spirit” should be understood as praying in the power of the Spirit, by the leading of the Spirit, and according to His will. In Pentecostal/Charismatic parlance however, the phase has come to be equated with modern “tongues”, i.e. when one “prays in the Spirit”, one is typically engaged in some form of tongues-speech.
The word “tongue(s)” itself is simply a more archaic word for (real) “language(s)”, nothing more. Replace “tongue(s)” with “language(s)” in these various passages and the whole modern Pentecostal/Charismatic concept of “tongues” begins to become difficult to posit - “language(s)” sounds a lot less mysterious, and in many cases, adds more clarity to the text. Again, in Pentecostal/Charismatic parlance however, the word has come to be equated with the modern concept of “tongues-speech”.
The most damning result of this re-definition of scripture is the reading into texts of things that are just not there.
“Tongues” is simply not what its ‘speakers’ want/need it to be.
Modern tongues is just another tool, like chanting or meditation, etc.; a way by which one may establish a closer relationship with the divine and strengthen one’s spiritual path. In this respect (i.e. as the tool it is), it can be quite powerful one to accomplish these goals, as attested by many of those who use it.
Most people who use ‘tongues’ are very keen on describing the ‘experience’; however, when examining the “mechanics” behind it, not so much. Indeed, when a person has experienced tongues, s/he is absolutely convinced as to the ‘scripturalness’ of his/her experience and the correctness of his/her doctrinal beliefs - this, despite the overwhelming scriptural absence of anything remotely akin to it.
Mind you, I'm not doubting or questioning the 'experience'; as mentioned, glossolalia as the tool that it is, can be very powerful. It is important to note however that this same statement can be made for virtually any other culture that practices glossolalia.
As a bit of an aside, it is also interesting to note that certain types of schizophrenia will present with glossolalia. Why is it that when schizophrenics produce glossolalia, it is immediately recognized and labeled as “nonsense” and quickly dismissed; but when Pentecostal/Charismatic Christians engage in glossolalia (producing the exact same thing in the exact same way), it is deemed as something ‘sacred’ or ‘divine’ in nature?
“Tongues” is to some Christian believers a very real and spiritually meaningful experience, but consisting of emotional release via non-linguistic ‘free vocalizations’ at best - the subconscious playing with sounds to create what is perceived and interpreted as actual, meaningful speech. In some cases, I would argue that it is clearly a self/mass delusion prompted by such a strong desire to “experience God” that one creates that experience (Agnes Ozman is perhaps the best-known example of this).
The common tongues-speakers’ catchphrase of “We don’t know what we’re saying…but it’s profound.” just doesn’t stand up.
Known by many different names, “tongues”, or more accurately “glossolalia”, is practiced by many cultures and religious beliefs from all over the world; it is relatively new to Christianity and certainly not unique to it.
By the way, let me also add here that I am neither a so-called ‘cessationist’ nor a ‘continuationist’ - I do not identify with either term; in fact, I had never heard the two terms until just late in 2016. Cessationist vs, non-cessationist is a false dichotomy; gifts ceasing is mentioned only once in one short sentence and the remainder of the Bible is totally silent on the matter. The one place it is mentioned is rarely taken into context of the entire passage. As far as I’m concerned, quite frankly, since the Biblical reference of “tongues” is to real, rational languages, obviously “tongues” haven’t “ceased”; people still speak.

Ps 119:11 says "Your words have I hidden in my heart." Also, Jeremiah 31:30 and Hebrews 8:10 state, "I will put My law in their minds and write them on their hearts." He is a well studied man of God and he knows the word of God because when children of the Most High God study to show themselves approved, as the Bible instructs us to do, God writes His Word on our hearts. So, if he didn't open his bible and you have a question about something he said, then the right thing for you to do would be for you to open your bible and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you that which you do not understand. It is expressed in the Bible that not all believers will receive this gift: “God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?” 1 Corinthians 12:28-30. We can see here that only some will receive the gift to speak in tongues, just as only some are called to be apostles, etc.
As with all gifts of the Spirit, the speaking of tongues is not necessarily a sign of spiritual maturity. Many of the Corinthians spoke in tongues but Paul states that they were “babes in Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:1) However, when used in an orderly and appropriate manner, it can be used to build up the individual and other members of the body of Christ.

I haven't read the statement or know Anything of the person ur referring to, however; I know that according to scripture there will come a time when we (the people of God) will have to rely on the WORD that God has so generously put in our HEARTS, cause there will be No bibles to bring out publicly without being jailed or killed as it was in biblical times, and still today one can lose their live for having A bible, so don't be sooo quick to JUDGE! Sometimes I think it best to simply pray about many a thing, before We put Our mouth on a true Woman or Man of God. Amen!
