Waking up to a very cloudy and cold morning in Northern California. How I wish I could talk to these young kids of yesteryear and find out what they did with their lives. They all look so happy and so much has happened since '67. Are they still alive? What careers did they choose, are they still working, etc. Most importantly what was their experience on American Bandstand. Did they all know each other? I would have loved to dance along with them.
@Martha Patchin Hi Martha! I would think the majority of the 60's regulars are still alive. At the upper end of age range they are probably retired. Most of the regulars we chat with on here are roughly 5 years older than me...making them 70+or- a year or so. I suspect just like now most went to college. The exception of a few over-achievers and under-achievers would encompass both men and women. Peggy Waggoner Names went onto a very successful career in films....from the perspective of audio/sound. You can look her up on IMDB....her career has been impressive to say the least. How many regulars hoped to get themselves on camera enough to audition for television or theater? If any of you heard your fellow dancers discussing it....let us know. This audio overdub of the music is nice to have, but it's strange how I miss hearing the original, slightly muddled mono sound on these clips. Makes it more nostalgic because that is what it sounded like coming out of the old TV set when I was growing up.
@shyman99 its a really tough choice I go through weekly regarding overdubs. The "canyon" is the streets of NYC as is obvious from the initial lyrics where the singer is looking out his/her window and seeing the steeple. @dancer don, Hi Don, did they change any of the colors on the set for the new color tapings? Were the walls and the checkerboard square that aqua blue/ teal color prior to Sept. ‘67? I’m thinking Clark’s penchant for “thriftiness” played a big role in both not updating the Philly set until late ‘64 and updating the set for the color broadcasts... or maybe it was just that very slow drying paint, lol!
