When you say You saw this "performance" . Are you referring to the 4 of them lip Singing. Wow! Thats cool as you get.Amazing how life goes. Its a different world ago. I love how happy and up it is. Today the young girls are over 70.I miss that simpler time.
George I was just thinking the same this song really moves me such a treat when compared to the dross we have now .The mamas and papas were magnificent.
I was about 18 years old at the time, and just starting out in college. Yes, they were great times in some respect (like this music), but those years also included civil rights resistance, violence, and riots - - and who can forget Vietnam for most of the '60s and part of the ''70s.
Her Granddaughter Brooke really looks so much like her! Beauty and kindness is in their DNA. Daughter Chynna is such a beauty and bright light as well!

Thanks for including the outro! It plays like a goup of kids called down to the Principal's office. Notice Cass's hands tied behind her back - a rather unfriendly stance. And her response to Ed's long, thoughtful question is a simple nod and an, "Uh huh". Wow! Michele is gorgeous.
Older people like Ed Sullivan tried so hard to understand the music of the 60s. The F.B.I. tried to find hidden meanings in popular songs. To us, it was just music.
Well, not exactly. Listen again. She says the song "is honest." Watch any of her talk-show appearances: Cass was never at a loss for words. Considering that Ed's question could inspire a dissertation and that the clock was ticking (unlike the clock in the song, which never moved), she mustered a straightforward, sincere response.
비정한세상 0초 전 Twelve Thirty Scott McKenzie I used to live in new york city Every thing there was dark and dirty Outside my window was a steeple With a clock that always said 12:30 Young girls are coming to the canyon And in the morning I can see them walking I can no longer keep my blinds drawn And I can't keep myself from talking. At first so strange to feel so friendly To say good morning and really mean it To feel these changes happening in me And not to notice till I feel it. Cloudy waters cast no reflection Images of beauty lie there stagnant Vibrations bounce in no direction But lie there shattered into fragments.
Check out Denny Doherty on Monday Monday and get back to us. Cass was featured more on the back side of their run. Both excellent. John knew how to use them both.
That is the myth about Sullivan, but actually, he was an intelligent man, and his question was a GOOD one! Why this resurgence in this kind of music? Compare that to the glib Dick Clark, who never stumbled or stuttered, but asked silly questions.
What I never understood is how all of their songs live sound just like the studio version! The voices and instruments sound the exact same!! for example here there's a piano which isn't shown on the video...
It’s lip synced obviously like most acts on Ed Sullivan, if you listen closely you notice the girls background vocals...but none of them are singing it...because it’s playing lol.
1. Yeah, he got it. Lol. He got there first. He kept bringing the heavyweights on year after year. Starting with his biggest coup The Beatles. 2. It's hard to view something in a historical context when it's happening live. Old Ed was hipper than you might think. I'm sure he realized very quickly the significance of what he had put into place.
This song is about trafficked children being taken to parties of the elite in Laurel Canyon. The band may not have known why all these young girls were being brought there…. So now it’s eerie to listen to.
There is a tragic back story to this performance. Michelle has learned John had been molesting their daughter, McKenzie for years. You can probably imagine the emotional state they were in. Michael gives a few clues with facial expressions and a somewhat less than usual performance. It's John's face which gives credence to this story. Watch as the camera moves in and as he sings "shattered into fragments" notice how he almost loses his composure and can't finish, in my opinion, as the reality sets in. Well then as I have probably ruined everyones mood and feeling for this great song, my work here is done. Be Safe.
Mackenzie was not Michelle’s daughter. Mackenzie is the daughter of Susan Adams his first wife. Michelle’s daughter is Chynna. John has a total of five children with three different women. Mackenzie did not disclose that she was molested until after John had died.
THIS!!! THIS IS THE ONLY RIGHT SONG! all these other fakes!? what is that!? THIS...THIIIIS IS THE ONLY true beginning to the song. THe song is ALL ABOUT the beginning. ANd listen to all these other fakes. Its totally different.
I saw this performance that night, they were fantastic .... They were truly one of the finest group of voices in Rock

Totally agree, one of the truly great groups of all time.
Always loved this song! Their harmonies are beautiful!
It's rare to hear harmonizing in music today. It's all beats and incoherent mumbling.
@@thingfish000 So True my friend!
Always loved this band, their harmonies are Amazing
I watched this. I could cry when I look back at how great those years were.

I absolutely love this song. A pure classic beauty.
I think this is my new favourite song ,can’t get it out of my head.not bad for a record nearly 60 years old

I could listen to it over and over and over and so on.
Oh contrare! It's what we expect from 60's and 70's era records.

My fave of their songs, hands down. Gorgeous.
One of favorite songs by the M&P. They all just shine!

So many childhood memories. Grew up in the late 60's and 70's hearing a lot of Mamas and Papas. My Mom was a huge fan.

Perfect blending of voices. It’s magical!

Ed Sullivan = most awkward TV host/interviewer in history. But he sure knew how to book the talent.
That is the myth about Sullivan, but actually, he was an intelligent man, and his question was a GOOD one! Why this resurgence in this kind of music? Compare that to the glib Dick Clark, who never stumbled or stuttered, but asked silly questions.

While being on Dick Clark meant you were popular; being on Ed Sullivan meant you were among the top artists.
Once upon a Time
It musta been weird standing there miming doing their vocal harmonies and a whole band
Wow, this song isn't that long to begin with, and yet they still cut it.
Kinda interesting to see what rock evolved from.
I mean, you try talking to Ed Sullivan whenever you’re high. It couldn’t have been easy.
holley2 lmao
I'm going to be thinking about that for a long time now!
It was hard to talk to anyone that age when we were high in the 60s, and trying not to laugh.
Honesty . A quality sadly eroded in 21st century M&P's so rich in harmony promise talent
What I never understood is how all of their songs live sound just like the studio version! The voices and instruments sound the exact same!! for example here there's a piano which isn't shown on the video...

1. Yeah, he got it. Lol. He got there first. He kept bringing the heavyweights on year after year. Starting with his biggest coup The Beatles.

Where do you suppose the band is. Behind the curtains?
Thier personal picadilloes broke them up after just 2 or 3 years.
the outro pried, but there did not refer to the scriptural reference to Mark 12:30
I remember how dirty nyc was, your eyes burnt from air pollution, bad.Coal soot.and cars.
Who else is here from NASASpaceflight?
Is it voice over?

What did she mean by honest? Is this an antiwar song?
It means that she was high out of her mind. All 4 of them were.
Total lip sync 'performance' here. The Beatles actually played live on Ed Sullivan.

the words are good. American music and art is completely dishonest and lame nowadays.
Lordy. This is a pedo anthem. Especially considering Mr Philips reputaiton, and Michelle's reported reaction to the lyrics ("you've had them all").
