I was at this show and it was an amazing experience! This was when the Daytime Emmys were in NY and had a live audience! Oh and still so many soaps on the air!!
Seeing this recent upload in its complete duration is a treat treat treat to every soap opera fan!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this rare find with all of us!!!!!
Amazing talent in daytime. Phenomenal stage actors and actresses who didn’t play part but became the role and character. My favourite the late Charles Keating (Carl Hutchins, Another World).
well you're in luck the daytime emmys will air on broadcast tv this year on CBS on June 26th, but it won't be a traditional ceremony thanks to the pandemic
I cried when they cut to Rosland Cash's brother as Wendy Riche read those words Clare Labine wrote what Mary Mae Ward said. I didn't expect that and it was so poignant.
Me too! RIP Rosalind Cash. She was so very talented and such a gift to GH at that stage in her career. I regularly watch clips of her singing as “Mary Mae Ward” on GH; she was phenomenal.
Christine Tudor As Gwen On Loving Had A Wonderful Story To Do In Late 1995. That Was The Loving Murders Storyline. It Was Well Acted, Well Written And Directed. Her Confession To Being The Killer And Her Demise Was Incredible. She Even Dressed Up In Disguise To Do It. This Storyline Was Considered By MANY In The Soap Opera Industry To Be One Of Lovings BEST Storylines, But Also It Was Done Or Told In Similar Fashion To What The Edge Of Night Did Too.....
And Let's Not Forget....... Michael Sutton (Stone Cates) And The Wonderful Social Issues Story That General Hospital Did In Late 1995. His Death Scene With Robin And The Whole Story Of HIV And AIDS Was Very Important And Impactful. I Am Very Very Glad General Hospital Won For Besr Drama In 1996, For 1995.
Yes! I’m unfamiliar with the work of the man who won the category that year, but Michael Sutton and Stuart Damon both delivered exceptional work in the AIDS storylines for GH. Damon’s character also was magnificent in the breast cancer storyline. 1996 was phenomenal at GH! I wish the show would return to stories like these!❤️
Jerry ver Dorn is who won and he was a real powerhouse on Guiding Light but I agree about Michael Sutton 100%. I wonder why he wasn’t in the Younger Actor category cuz that was up to age 25…am I doing my math wrong? lol there was probably some technicality to do with timing…🤷🏻♀️
1:23:02 it would have been awful to be Susan Lucci that night because she was, for once, the favourite to win. You can hear the audience chanting her name. Her reel that year was exceptional and until she finally won in 1999 was her best work to date.
As I said above to someone, I truly thought she would prevail. The downside was Slezak also had very rich material and excellent submissions. Luckily it only took three more years until her deserved victory.
Yes, and in a way, her win in 1999 marked the end of daytime as most of us knew and loved it, so her win was epic and fitting for the turn of the century@@cajayson8301
No she wasn’t. Erika Slezak was phenomenal that year. She played 6 other alternative personalities, discovered she was sexually abused by her father and that she killed him as one of her alters. She had amazing material and hit it out of the ballpark.
OMG Jill Foster Abbott was so beautiful with her own style... And mind you so was Brenda Dickerson who also played the original Jil ..Jack and Jil went up the hill to play around in that cabin that rescued them from the blizzard Storm...
absolutely. As a huge La Lucci fan, this was hard to see. I truly thought she would have won I actually heard that many of her fans booed Erika Slezak after her win. That's just downright WRONG. Erika is a consummate, classy professional who always stood by Susan during her Emmy losses. Plus, she put 100% effort into every single nomination and win for which she received (unlike Tony Geary, who clearly phoned it in a lot of times). I would've been embarrassed had I been there that night. Show some class for the legendary Erika Slezak. Also, I loved how Erika said after this event, "I'm not going to apologize for winning, although some feel I should because they say I 'beat' Susan Lucci. I hate that word! I didn't beat anybody!" You tell em, Erika! She should not apologize for one second. Erika EARNED all six of her Emmy wins and other nods....just like Susan earned her Emmy win, her recent Lifetime Achievement Emmy and her other nominations. I have nothing but the utmost respect for both Susan and Erika...even when she got the Emmy over Lucci's submissions. If anything, it would be an honor to be a runner up to an impeccable daytime thespian like Erika Slezak.
Thanks so much for this!! Appreciate you! How many years of the Daytime Emmy Awards do you have? Would love to see as much as I can especially the 28th Daytime Emmy ceremony.
It won the previous year but they were not gonna win for two deaths in a row. Also they weren't nominated here. Also GH was known for clink boom storytelling under Guza. They're known for their shock and awe and how they write action stories better than the others. Action does not resonate with writing which is more about dialogue.
Oh! Your videos are gold.Thank you so much for saring the full show🌸.Do you have the 48th Primetime Emmy Awards in 1996? It would be amazing if you could share it here with us.🙏
But For General Hospital, They Were Robbed Of The Writting Award. The Now Late Claire Labine Was Brilliant With: Love Of Life, Ryan's Hope, General Hospital And One Life To Live. Also Michael Sutton Should've Won The Supporting Actor Award.
How were they robbed? Is it because you just liked it ? That was your personal basis opinion. When people likes something or someone when that person doesn’t win. It’s always they were robbed. When stats and data says something different.
GH was known.for their acting and production. That has more weight than writing alone. OLTL had strong writing and acting with the rape story in 94 but that was all they had to offer besides Sleazak. Their production was awful.
oooo a pre-daytime talk show Rosie....wait when did her show premiere again? 1:05:52 well that answered my question check your local listings, man you don't hear that word anymore do you?

The 1996 Daytime Emmys Was Great........ But There Were Several Things Wrong With The Show...... One Of Which Was 2 (Two) People Were Robbed Of Daytime Emmys. First Was Christine Tudor (Gwen Alden) From Loving And Michael Sutton (Stone Cates) From General Hospital.
is it too late to give a prize to the real star of the Daytime Emmys broadcast? "Clarence" did all he could to protect the envelope with the Best Drama Series honoree...or so we and he thought come 1:27:05
My guess this was on CBS other than Susan Lucci the network hosting the Daytime Emmy's really focussed on their actors/shows. Here we see how wooden the great Eric Braeden is.
@thetvzone Her best work overall was at "Guiding Light" outside of a few big errors. Beverlee McKinsey, Sherry Stringfield, Kimberly Simms, and Vincent Irizzary leaving and killing off Maureen Bauer were probably the only things that went wrong during her time at "Guiding Light." Other than those aspects, GL was wonderful under the JFP era. Jill Farren Phelps' best work was at "Guiding Light."
Oh boy i remember the storyline of Nathan from Y&R contracting AIDS and possibly giving it to his wife Olivia...Drew went off on his azz and his mistress who gave it to him... Talk about self serving and careless .
I'm so sick and tired of Erika Slezak always winning and never having guilt about it. Susan Lucci was robbed by her so many times. Lucci deserved it all the times Slezak won. It too bad it took Lucci 19 times to get only one. Slezak won 6 out of 9 noms BS
first off, I'm a huge Susan Lucci and AMC fan and believe this should've been her night to win. However, Erika Slezak always worked her butt off in each year she won an Emmy and deserved all of them, including the 1996 win....she submitted terrific material in her own right. She should not feel any guilt for doing her job 100%.
