I love this book and it's by my bedside every night. Sometimes I bring it with me to work and reflect on specific prayers. It's a great go to for how to speak to G-d.

This is an eloquent expression of a beautiful idea by a sensitive Jewish soul. On the one hand, Naomi has met a need that people have to express themselves to God - a need that has been blocked in much of the Orthodox world by people being taught that they must pray only through our formal prayers in the siddur. On the other hand, she seems oblivious to what our formal prayers actually say, something which many are missing in our individually oriented world, that is, prayers addressed to God by the Jewish people as a whole. For many , that sense of belonging to and identifying with the Jewish people as a whole has been tragically weakened, so that they do not feel the prayers in the siddur as being their own personal ones. In all periods of Jewish history, the formal prayers by the Jewish people as a whole were never intended to replace personal prayer, especially personal prayers of thanks or calls from one in distress.

Enjoyed Naomi last night at Boulder Bookstore on book tour. Guess what? My favorite part was her prayer/blessing that closed the evening.
