i'm new to this type of game, about 20 hours in so far and i just can't get past this guy. i've killed 10 other bosses and the mage during his 2nd phase fucks me every time. they made this boss really hard for early game players.

I sneaked him! Crouched literally right behind him for like 20 minutes until he low enough for me to kill him

Try save and quit if he starts to spot you and it will reset his agro

You need to go to the round table and buy the finger seal item from the merchant there!
Then learn
The spell
Equipe the item “ finger seal” and use it with the poison mist!
