    Just fitted your booster plug and it has transformed the bike by taking away the snatchy throttle as you go from no throttle to rolling on, especially entering corners. Worth every penny and wish I did it sooner. I’m sure Triumph wanted the motor to run this way.

  • @markhobson3219

    I’ve fitted a Tec X pipe and Booster plug to my Speed Twin and can recommend for a smoother throttle and a much better proper sound, even on standard pipes! Agree with George the Vance and Hines are a lot of money for a minor sound improvement, unless you prefer the look over stock. I’ve tried the progressive springs too, but they need a bit of fine tuning, so the adjustable caps will be needed when available. That no plate relocation looks pretty cool too
    Well done George

    It’s really nice to see honesty say with the remap power commander example. I’ve bought a few of your products to use for my speed master that I’m extremely happy with and I’m fortunate you distribute here in the states. Ironically prior to seeing this vid I am in the market for a new bike and was leaning towards a speed twin. Now I know if I buy one where I’m going for aftermarket kit. It’s refreshing to have found your company truly is. Carry on friend!

    brilliant video and really excited about the speed twin , i will be getting one at some point , t120 bonny was too much of a sofa for me and the thruxton too uncomfy , apart from a lack of touring ability with the lack a proper screen and as close to perfect for me anyway , i just really hope to see some proper usable touring parts for this bike , defiantly a couple of sizes of screens or some kind of innovation such as a adjustable spoiler or something , and also some options for panniers would be great , maybe some options to work with existing panniers that are on the market ect , but cant wait to see parts coming forward for this platform the speed twin which due to its all round usability i think will be triumphs most successful bike yet

    I'm quite surprised at the fact that there is no adjustments to the forks for this price range. Here in Australia, Speed Twins go for around $19,000, while XSR-900 goes for around $14,000 and has quite a bit more adjustment, while being in a similar bike segment.

    Well I am pretty late to see this vid, but after just buying one of these, I totally agree. I had the Thruxton R and also the T120, and this bike is a good combination of the two. I have fitted your tail tidy and it looks awesome. What I would like, as I go touring, is some side rails so I can sling my throw over panniers over, unfortunately the Bonnie ones don't fit without me modifying. So whenever you get round to the luggage items, will definitely consider them, cheers, Dave

    I’ve got a bit over 3000 kms on mine now and it’s bog stock. Not really tempted to change anything- I love it as it is. Always had sports Ducatis, which I also love, but the Speed Twin is more licence friendly and makes more sense in the current regulatory environment. It’s not slow by any means - just not really a track bike. Great fun to ride. Sounds splendid out of the box. Doesn’t piss off neighbours and cat is environmentally friendly. Only sips fuel. But the only riding mode you need is Sport.

    Great informative video George. I think the lack of a centre stand option is pretty poor these days for the money we’re being asked to pay for bikes. Black anodised pipes would be another great option to match the engine, this off colour chrome just looks tatty to me on this model.

What would be interesting, would be rear sets for the Street Twin and Street Cup, so that we can change the riding position of the smaller Bonnies to match the Speed Twin and the Thruxton. So, since there is only one cartridge, it should be mainly for rebound purposes and therefore the bike is under underdamped in compression. Thus, the progressive springs are fixing the compression damping. Is my guess correct? Please let me know if I am wrong.

    Great video George. I've done 2000km on my Speed Twin and I agree with all the points you make. Unlike you I would like to see if having the bars a little higher and closer might add to the comfort, so do you have any plans to look at an up-and-back riser for the bike? I don't think it needs much, but I would like to have the option and I'm hoping you might produce a part. Thoughts?

    I feel bad for you guys, In California very often I'm on what we call "freeways", and yes there's traffic but often there's no and if you go under 70 mph you will get run over by the rest of traffic. I have long arms and when I want to I can ride fairly upright on my TTR. At about 65 mph, you have to bend over or the wind is going to seriously bother you. My kawasaki w650 has the same riding position as the speed twin, and its comfy riding slow, but again, at 65 plus you get killed by the wind. (have a wind screen for it) For TTR owners, its about the look, speed twins don't have it. There was a time, I thought I'd retrofit my TTR, not anymore. The only time its an issue, is after 2 hours with my wife on the back. I'm 56, wifes only 95 lbs, but with her on the back I have a different riding position.
    That all said, I encounter a lot of TTR riders who just don't ride enough so the TTR bothers them. If you are an average person, and you go and do 10 miles on either bike, you are going to choose the speed twin. If you do that, and you ride it like me and put 6k miles on your speed twin in less than a year, and you are going usa speeds, you are going to find yourself with a big ugly wind screen, or a sore back from leaning with the wrong bar position. Just saying.

      @@karlosh2422 The whole Bonnie thing has been done before. Was hoping to see something similar in architecture to the Kawasaki Z900RS, BMW R nine T and Yamaha XSR900 all of which use a "better" mono shock rear.

      @@nikitis13 Do mono shocks make that much difference ?

    • @nikitis13
      @nikitis13 5 лет назад

      @@karlosh9286 A mono shock rear usually has the engineers developing a more sophisticated swing-arm and frame also, to accomodate the optimal load location in order to provide control and enhance handling. The arrangement allows the bike to stay better balanced with the greatest amount of contact/traction on the road. Twin shocks can never be as balanced as a mono-shock/set-up and over time can develop unequal balance as both sides are independent of each other. Just like a car can develop greater wear on one shock over the other. Single rear load points eliminates any left or right balance discrpencies. I had a Thruxton 1200 R with the very good Ohlins rear suspension and it never felt as confidence inspiring as what a mono shock would on less than perfect surfaces. It alway felt like the tail had a mind of its own on uneven surfaces when riding "enthusiastically".

Also, with only one cartridge in the forks, would there be any benefit to fit 2 cartridges, can it be done, and would it be worth it, or would it be better to change to the progressive springs for both, and do away with the cartridge. I don`t know what cartridge forks are, what they look like, or how they fit etc etc. Can you do a film explaining and showing them?.

    Nice video, thanks! What i'd like (except a de-cat, which i will most likely send my Scrambler XC exhaust to you for) is adjustable footpegs that fit the scrambler. If i tippy-toe the OEM pegs i can grip the tank between my knees as opposed to having knees in (too) close proximity to cylinder head on left side and exhaust pipe on the right.
    Now, do you have any plans making adjustable pegs for the scrambler? I'd guesstimate 25-35 mm would be enough, preferably using the part your foot is on from the originals, but if that's too much work, a setup similar to the ones you show in the video above.

    Im thinking of going down from a 200hp zx14r and have been thinking of a thruxton . Then the speed twin gets released, being lighter. Then I watch this video . Now I am like a kid in a lolly shop. My kwacka handles is quite comfy and will go slow....70mph....without complaint. Torque in spades inn6th....lots of protection....so id buy a thruxton or speed twin and then feel the compulsion to customise it. So what do i do....repeat ive done before, fill my garage up????? Or downsize for my OAP days to one bike, or keep my 2 and get a third???

      I had a 2013 Zx1400R that I did a little drag and land speed racing on and have had the Thruxton R since new in 2016. The 1400R was a sensational bike but....I don't have the self control to ride safely and rationally on the street. The Kawasaki was sold and have not missed it. The Thruxton R is a treat on the street in terms of performance, comfort and handling a well balanced bike.
      Yes I have done a few modifications since I do drag race and do land speed racing with it, just slightly slower. I was at the drag strip recently to test some land speed gearing and fairing and ran against, guess...a Kawasaki Zx1400R. I think despite the gearing I put a scare into him see RUclips "Thruxton R vs Kawasaki Zx1400R 1/4 mile".
      I do plan to get one of George's cams in 2020, too bad I can't afford for this August Bonneville run though. If I didn't race it I wouldn't have changed it.

    Look into "Nology " coils and spark plug wires ! That and a better air filter, and any mod you can do to the airbox!

    Hi there!
    If I could ask you knowledgeable guys a question....
    I have a Street Twin, it as now 5500km on it... and on two occasions I’ve witnessed acceleration/clutch changes, from one day to the next...
    Trying to explain in writing isn’t easy...
    I use to have a bit more torque in first, and the general acceleration sound was a nice bop bop bop
    And now it seems to me that the bike is winded out very soon in first second and third... and that acceleration sound is now more of a lean rrrrrrr
    It’s a shame cause I can’t seem to find what’s going on
    Tha Triumph garage tells me they can’t see anything wrong, but they hadn’t had the bike before and after, so they can’t know

    • @TECBikeParts
      @TECBikeParts  5 лет назад +1

      Hi
      I have not experienced any clutch issues, but I know Triumph has changed the clutch slightly now from early models. the only thing similar that these bikes we have found is engine surge when the tank is getting low caused by lower fuel pressure when the fuel sloshes about, this can happen any time after the fuel light comes on.

    whats the difference between T120 and speed twin ??

    • @georgemilburn6213
      @georgemilburn6213 5 лет назад +1

      They ride massively different ,main differences are Frame geometry/ weight/ power output. The T120 feels heavy and steady compared to the agile speed twin, and the heavy flywheel on the T120 makes the motor less responsive.
