- Mamas Southern meatloaf
2 lbs hamburger
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/4 cup bell pepper
1/4 cup onion
2 eggs
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
mix all together
topping for meatloaf
2 slices bacon
1/2 catsup
preheat oven @ 375 and cook until done. depends on size of pan on how long to cook.

My dad use to make the best meat loaf he would put everything in but the kitchen sink...But I loved his gravy it just a can of Campbell's tomato soup and a can of beef gravy straight up out of both cans in a pot...it was delicious

...pretty much how I learned by observation as my mom made it (I'm 74) you GOTTA have the eggs and the bread - crumbs. or as she did, breaking up a slice - or two - of bread. I usually added a stalk of celery , chopped medium...mom laid 3 or 4 slices of bacon on top - but never ketchup...when I made it with my late wife, I wrapped the whole thing in bacon...meatloaf is good both hot - and also cold - on sandwiches...I haven't cooked since my wife passed away three years ago - no sense in making something that will go bad before I can eat it all...
First, I'm so very sorry for your loss. If you wanted to you could slice and freeze. My boys always loved meatloaf sandwiches. Thank you for sharing. The whole meatloaf would be so good wrapped in bacon. Thank you. Next one I make I'm gonna wrap it all in bacon..bacon does makes everything better😊
