great video i have owned 3 Gavita 1700ePro fixtures and purchased them on a preorder. Great quality for sure and after 3 years no issues. One thing to consider here is that the Gavita 1700ePro is a 3 year old light so considering its that far back in production compared to new technology its a very impressive light.
I've used gavita 1700 and yes they do LOOK flimsy but they aren't. We hang plants from our lights during first week of drying. We have over 100k in gavita lights too. I know their limits.

Compare common power drivers 3. Compare common didoes. 4. UV post/thoughts 5. Quantum boards vs bar style? 6. Far red thoughts? 7. Light Intensity drop per 12" LED vs HPS. 8. HPS ppfd vs LED ppfd That should keep you busy for a few months.

That would be the veg light. Gavita 1730 is the full spectrum light. Gavita does have the 1930 which is the equivalent to the 1000w hps. You do have to hang thes up high like an hps.

It is less expensive than the Gavita, but has the same efficiency. I wanted to feature lights that had better efficiency and light output specs. But it is a pretty solid light!

@Matthew Earl i love my gs-e720. I bought a e680, grow craft, scorpion diablo, and a timber. I came back to the growers choice and got a e720 because i have the best results with their spectrum. I will admit Im looking at getting a GML tarantula because of the ethics of the company and after Migro results, Im even more interested.

They can always put more power to any diodes and charge whatever they want but do these companies use have great customer service , how's their warranties , what diodes are they using , what drivers are they using , how's their reputation ? So many unanswered question for the competitors of gavitas that you didn't answer . Great video as always just asking why did you choose to put gavita on the chopping block and did you consider doing their 900e ? Yes, from the manufacturer. I know HLGs has been third party tested but I am not 100% on the others. Most manufacturer’s data these days can be trusted. Almost all brands are using similar diodes and drivers so the numbers make sense.

Yes, that COULD have been on the list too, but the lights on the whiteboard are better in terms of light output and efficacy. The HM660 is $725 which is nearly the same as two of the lights on this list. As mentioned in the video, these lights are examples of good lights and there are more out there to choose from :)
the canopy ppfd is a salesmans wet dream..so whats the ppfd at 3.5 foot away from the light..lets say the hanging height is 1 foot and iam asking for 3.5 foot reading..that is still only a super small 2 foot plant..many led use 0.4w diodes the gavita ct2000e uses 3 or 4 times the power..the light shines further..just like a 600w hps vs 1000w hps..the 1000w can be hung on the ceiling and will grow bigger plants.canopy numbers are bullshit
The MIGRO ARAY 8 was a little underpowered for a 4x4 compared to these other lights so I didnt include it. The MIGRO ARAY 12 is another option to conisder though. The dimensions of 54″ x 39″ on the ARAY 12 is a little outside the square-like shape of the Gavita and these other lights so that is why it is not on the list. Great light output vs price though!
Isen’t spectrum just important for morphology? And not quality or quantity.. 90% of the lights on the market are suitable for growing from seed to harvest.. so why everybody keeps talking about spectrum baffles me
yes i also wonder why fire safety have no value to most people.. testing of a product involves alot more then measuring the light 😆 imagine if we did not test anything but the headlights of cars... not all of them can get a CE stamp for example, and that should make people using them very scared.. safety standars are not something that should be lowered, if anything they should become better i wonder how many fires was started because people bought simething they saw someone review social media.. somehow these kind of videos should only be allowed in a region, if the product is allowed to be sold and used in that region on the marked..
The point of the video was to show you that you can get a good light for a cheaper price than the Gavita 1700e. There are many lights better or on par with Gavita. The build quality of the 1700e is not that great. Quite flimsy. Although I will say it uses good diodes and driver with low warranty issues. Hawthorne customer service needs to step it up too.

Only a fool would put a slightly higher umol in front of build quality.Generally speaking EU built is better than US built,and that includes LEDs.Iv seen more Kind with broken diodes than any other make of light on ebay.It must be as high as 25% of the kind for sale have a number of broken diodes.
All these manufacturers and for that matter all LED light manufacturers products suck. None of them even come close to meeting my needs. I build my own.
