It's really interesting that they seem to have deliberately reproduced the texture filtering of the N64 in this game. For those that don't know, the N64 had a particularly odd method of sampling its textures where it would sample three points in a triangle that nobody else really did (sampling a single point, or four points in a square were more standard). This gave the interpolated pixels a distinct "rupee" shape and it looks like they've reproduced that here, which would have had to be done deliberately because as mentioned nobody else ever did it that way and no engine would have it as a built-in option.
As an Indian person, I was very confused when you said "rupee shaped" at first...I thought this was another "do you know what a rectangle is?" situation
Julia was so right about Game Jam games. They all feel like games people are passionate for and not just appeasing shareholders or vessels for microtransaction hellscapes.
I can see Julia being an Athena kid but lemme also toss Hephaestus out there. With all the various art mediums Julia has tried across the years it makss sense. Also clock-making does sound more like his thing, since it involves more metal bits. Athena is always more a fiber-arts kind of goddess in term of creating stuff, but Hephaestus is more metal and sculpting.

In the last potionomics stream Jacob looked really annoyed and distressed at some point of the more complicated potion making process, so I am very glad he is going with the decision that makes him most comfortable. I myself LOVED the graphics and humor of the game but also returned it as it had gotten too complicated for my brain. So I can 100 % relate. i got this game about 10 minutes into the stream originally and binged the hell out of it. i love this game so much and im really happy that y'all introduced me to it!! i've even started to learn the any% after doing everything in the game on my first playthrough :)
i came home to a cat with major poopy butt and had to bathe him (and wash literally everything in my room bc he'd sat on everything) but he was an absolute champ in the bath which was great (because i had never bathed him before and it was midnight) he was quiet and would just try to step out of the bathtub but was fine when i gently put him back in
I would LOVE to see yall play through "I was a teenage exocolonist". It's about the life of a child from 10 years old to 20 as part of the first exocolony from earth. It got romance, it got sorrow, it got deck building, and to top it off, it got gorgeous water colour painting as the art style. It's probably my favourite indie game
Ok so I’m thinking through the whole who their parents would be cause they stumbled upon my special interest of Percy Jackson and I immediately became obsessed with the thought. Jacob is def Apollo Julia would most likely be Athena but hear me out: Hermes. In the books especially he’s known as the kind of Jack of all trades and that fits with her whole trying everything thing but I do think that Athena would also be a good fit. Karina I think would be a Dionysus kid and Nathan I’m not too sure about for the Greeks but I think that within the pjo universe he would be a Frey kid with the amount of glowy sun Nathan’s that they’ve drawn. If you have other ideas please let me know I would love an excuse to discuss more pjo
I saw the first few minutes of the game and absolutely had to go buy it. The PS1 era graphics are super nostalgic and I just love the near-dialogless gameplay. I finished the game in like 3 days and can't wait for J&J to play more! I know there's things I didn't find and I went about things in a totally different order from Jacob, so I wonder what he'll find! I did have to refer to a fan-made map to get the last stuff, it's so easy to get lost once you've out-adventured yourself 😅
The MC gives off vibes of being a PS1 or N64 protagonist and I love that. Everything looks like it was made for the purpose of feeling good to do. I love it and want to give money to the creator.

Bought the game less than an hour into the VOD. It's amazing! Thanks to SSS for shedding some light on this gem. I'm back now after beating it in 6ish hours (had to start over due to getting too far with too few upgrades) and I gotta say, Jacob is killing it! Some real platforming skills.

Only problem is it doesnt have controller capabilities. Its a relatively shirt game, perfect for a stream! It took me an hour and a half i believe

The low framerate character animation looks so nice.
I think because in low framerate animation you need to focus more on recognisable key frames.
