Anyone else almost cry listening to them? I have such an emotional attachment to this band and im so glad that they are expanding and continuing to be such a success.
Me too! Its almost embarrassing how emotionally attached to get to their music. Not their image mainly, but their music. Sometimes i wish there was someone I could share it with. I hope you're still around and have heard their new album!
I was introduced to Purity Ring back in 2019 and this is the first time I hear them "live". It was quite unusual to hear these songs as "new" ones, when it's the ones I first was introduced to them with. Bodyache, Push pull and Begin again are fucking spectacular.
I think it's so beautiful how everything from her melodies to the electro instrumentals are so unique and different from anyone else, and it's still so damn good. Like when u hear a new Purity Ring song, you instantly know its them cause who else sounds like that???
You must be lucky enough to have pretty much missed the whole mainstream trend from like 2012 or 2014 to 2020, because EVERYBODY in the pop world was trying to sound like this. These guys got skirted hard by bigger names.
I'll never regret seeing them live. Among the best headliners I've seen. Their production is amazing, but the crystals had evolved into something else when I saw them
I've been obsessed with them since Fineshrine, and I don't think I've ever been more in love with a band ever. another eternity is incredibly perfect and the music videos that keep coming up making me fall in love with them even more! So excited for their next album I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT
And the coolest part is, I still haven't listened to all of their music. And I've only just started getting to know them as a band and as individuals. I feel like a kid before Christmas.
Same here man. Someone played Fineshrine on turntable.fm years ago and I was hooked instantly. Unfortunately I didn't dig deeper until a year and a half ago, but damn I'm glad I did.
push pull - 0:17 bodyache - 10:48 begin again - 13:50 Was first introduced to these guys Record Store Day 2015, received a free sticker and decided to check them out. Have loved them since then
I'm fairly sure there's some really light pitch correction, my engineer ears are picking up the tiniest bit of funny business at certain points. That said, I think it's 95% her, like it's just there to take excellent to perfect.
For an album they created from scratch, this sounds amazing. I am a long time listener of music from hundreds of genres from all around the world. With all of that said "Lofticries" is a song I will never forget as long as I live, it is a masterpiece.
its strange, i heard lofticries around the time it came out and i’ve always loved and listened to that song on and off again but never actually looked more into purity ring. the same thing happened with begin again, i must have heard it on a playlist and was instantly hooked but those were the only two songs i knew... until womb came out, and i thought i’d FINALLY listen to all of their material and i am so so So in love. i really regret not listening to them sooner because for the past month since womb came out i literally have not listened to anything else. purity ring have instantly shot up to my list of top favourite artists
Hah, same. Begin Again was the first one I came across, checked out a couple more and liked it but stopped there. Then heard Fineshrine on Letterkenny, and started looking into who it was, only to remember I had a few songs from them already. Went on a binge at that point lol
I swear the performance of bodyache is still living in my skin. Seriously. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Will be staying with me for life. Pretty sure I'll be 90 and still talk about that show. HANA opened for them too. Check her out too if you can!
Ive been listening Purity Ring for 2 years now , I think that in all my life I can really say I enjoy very much the music you do, its uplifting, closer to God than mostly any other electronic music, you guys keeo it up, I love your music soo much; please let me know when you come to Mexico Ill show u around!
I love this particular version of push pull. They changed the melody slightly towards the end of it vs. what's on their official track. I like it much more this way.
I actually had to make myself listen to these guys over and over before I started to really vibe with them. Now they’re one of my favorites. I love the sound, her voice and especially the lyrics which seem to be all about how physicality and emotions interact. Very unique band. Can’t wait for their new album as their new singles are their best work yet!
This is such an awesome job by the dude on the right. He was messing with that box the whole time for all sorts of effects, and, from what I can tell by listening to the album, it was a flawless performance. Overlooked!
Fun fact: This is the only video online of Purity Ring performing live that is both *ACTUALLY* in HD, and has the highest bit rate audio. Seriously, screw anyone that records concerts on their cellphone and put it online. Just stop. You don't have the money, talent, or work ethic to actually do a good job recording a live performance like the pros do. Thank you KEXP for actually providing a worthwhile service to the public.
They're just perfect live, it's impressive. I also find it super interesting how she goes from seemingly nervous, sort of uncomfortable when speaking to absolutely dominating the room 5 seconds into the song. Not sure if she's an introvert necessarily, but it goes to show how much you need to give people space for them to shine.
Looking back I’m so glad I saw this interview and beautiful set because when I showed my friend to them at Coachella 2016 They couldn’t believe there set was so awesome I’m glad they were swept away
Listened to a Live Concert recording on the local radio here in Australia today, and thought what a clear or shall i say pure voice ,without knowing the name of this duo. Most performers today cannot reproduce what they record , these guys sound better live.
First time seeing/hearing this band. I'm a huge Chvrches fan. and people's comments from other videos led me to here. I dig em! KEXP never lets me down.
You really need to have curiosity for music to find the most beautiful songs hidden like gold. I ❤️ Purity Ring, there music takes me to a place I've never been with the soulmate i would hopefully find...for now just let me dream about that imaginary time of my life
Sound, Voice, Presentation. All top notch. Hope they get the attention they deserve. Wish them all the best and I can imagine they will collect lots of music awards with their next album.
I remember when I first learned of purity ring back in 2012, listening to that shrines album for the first time, blew my mind, probably my favorite album of all time honestly.
Saw tonight in St Pete FL. Went for Lofticries from years back, didn’t know them but amazing show, her voice! Their sound is so deep and ethereal. Displays were out of this world too! Here I am late at night listening to even more of them
My dream job is to just play bass guitar for some absolute geniuses like them, and just be along for the ride and have the best seat in the house night after night after night... :)
I found Purity Ring when Danny Brown did the song 25 Bucks. I wasn't really into anything but hip hop, but the beat and the singing on the hook was dope, so the first song I found was Bodyache. Since that day, my musical taste just started veering in wild directions and I realised how musically shallow I had been for years. And I haven't given them the credit that they deserved. I hadn't really listened to them for quite a while until they just did the Better Off Alone cover. I'm fully back in love with Purity Ring and have already fixed my spotify playlists accordingly. And looking forward to the stuff I missed while I wasn't paying attention. And always love to KEXP for these videos from all the music I like. Generally, if I stumble across an artist that isn't super popular, they've done a KEXP performance and its awesome.
@@steelparadox Yeah. For a long time people ask me, "What do you listen to?" "What are you favorite songs?" I couldn't answer because genuinely I didn't know what music I was passionate about. That changed with Purity Ring.
They are amazing. Ugh. Chills it was beautiful. Scary for all the artists performing but amazing to see each artist play into the elements down to Robert Smith as the closer!!! 😭😭😭😭😭
+MA55ACRE Begin Again IS an awesome track, but listen to their new album a few more times all the way through and you'll probably find that most of their other songs grow on you too!... I also really like Heartsigh... Watch the video for that song too.

"Classy-quirky." Well said
