  • Join me as I gather materials for another Father fish themed aquarium. Let's DIY an outdoor patio tank, outside on my deck. I'll take you along with me to a freshwater lake to gather some plants and then to a pond to catch some fish.

    Looks great! Definitely plant the Pennywort (small Lilly pad) into the substrate. You also have snagged some Hornwort, that wont survive if planted but does great floating. Keep us updated with videos of the tank!

    When I collect fish from a pond, creek or lake I just use a fish trap. Put some food in it and wait about 15min, you have a bunch of little fish. I live in NC so I mostly get blue gill.

      That was the plan, but I couldn't find mine. But the net worked out good for the video.

    This is the most humble fish tank video I’ve seen on RUclips I like it
    Awesome tank
    How you go about it in the winter?

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Месяц назад +1

      It will be drained and covered for the winter and the fish returned to the pond or given to a friend of mine with a turtle.

    I wanted to do the same thing with a 55gal I had lying around, but I get way too much sun daily with no blocks over my patio area.

      It's got some cover, and the back is painted, the driftwood and floating plants block a lot of the light and still I had a lot of algae the first 2 wks.

      All I know is it was labeled as a Spindle palm.

    wouldnt algae be a problem, being outside?

    • @junglenook
      @junglenook  Месяц назад

      After the first week I started to get a lot on the glass. seems to have cleared up now. The back is painted, and the lily pads cover the surface. It gets some direct light for about 5-6 hours a day.
