Both sides are partially right in all of this. The Left is correct because we can't just say no to every single person trying to flee a bad situation just because of a few bad apples. The Right is right because we can't let dangerous people into our country, and, just to clarify, there are people from those countries that would love to see our nation hit like it was in 9/11. Both sides have taken an extreme stance on this issue and it's not healthy for our democracy, foreign policy, and safety. The majority of the refugees trying to get in are people fleeing a shitty situation and want a better life. Why can't we find a middle ground between the Left and Right from which we can cooperate and put into place a plan that we can all, at least partially, agree on?
You're right in principle. But the devil is in the details of the 'middle ground' you mention. Both sides agree on national security and anti-terrorism measures. It's the 'how" that's being discussed/debated. I see this action as a smart pro-active move, particularly due to the escalation of the war on ISIS.
I agree that a temporary ban, until we can figure out a better solution is better than letting things run rampant and unchecked, but it can't be a permanent solution.
But the question still stands... Why come to America? When they could go to Germany or other countries in Europe where there are lighter border policies and more Muslim people.
