I hate that i just found your channel today. A channel mainly about 1/144 kits is literally something I was looking for as that scale is my favourite. Keep up the good work ❤
That was a lot of work. But you made it look easy. Now I'm rethinking building this kit. None the less, this was an excellent analysis and a sharp paint job.
Putting metal balls in the feet is a clever idea to compensate for the heaviness of the back pack!! I have a question though, what was the size of the metal ball because i’m planning in doing that with my destiny gundam.
I honestly have no idea, I have an assortment of sizes I got from Amazon and I just put in whatever that fit. I used a couple of different sizes in this build.
Wow, tons of modifications having to be done is a bummer for this kit (especially the wings, those do NOT look fun). I think you did a real good job but maybe I'll pass on this kit for now, at least until my backlog clears up a bit 😅. Great work as always, loved the new proportions and details (especially the extra detail on the quads). Hopefully the next one is a more enjoyable build (and also, good luck with the move)!
Hahaha, you can totally skip like 90% of the work I did here. I guess you can't really skip the wing masking though, it's honestly awful. Thank you for the kind words!
Yeah they REALLY didn’t make that part easier to mask, lmao. I feel like maybe if you mask the blue parts separately, maybe it’d be easier? Too late for me to experiment now though
For this one I did, part of the reason why the kit didn't stand up on its own is because the waist was kind of loose so painting all the joints around that area helps it to stand better. For other kits without the standing problem though, I'd mask the joints.
It's crazy to me when I see people like you modifying so much an HG, so much time and effort went to that project, we can tell lmao but I'm wondering if it is worth it ? Isuppose to each their own with that, but your LED video got me through my first custom project, and seeing this there's a ton more I have to learn in the future, awesome video as always, very informative, and amzaing build lmao
I mean, this is definitely where "Gunpla is Freedom" kicks in, kind of all depends on what's your goal with the hobby. I always think if building as many kits as you can is what brings you joy, do it, just snap build, you don't even really have to topcoat. I build kits all the time like that off camera. Some people just do straight paint without mods, that's fine too, you get an elevated result without too much input, that way you don't end up spending like a month just on an HG like me lol, that's completely fine too. Madworks has been doing these videos on how to finish painting a kit in a day, it's totally possible to get great builds without putting in too much work. For me though, I just like putting in a ton of work to make something that I'm truly proud of. I think I managed to make an HG look like an RG, ever since I finished this, every time I pass by my Gunpla shelf I take a couple of seconds to look at this kit. This is what brings joy to me personally, and I think showing people all the possible things to do on a kit is definitely worth something. But yeah, at the end of the day, we are literally just all grown children playing with mecha dolls, lmao. I hate it when people gatekeep the hobby, build however you want to build it, I'm just here as a reference so you can achieve the result you want.
If you wanna know what true ridiculousness looks like, check out Naoki's modifications on the Rising Freedom on just the head alone: twitter.com/n_a_o_k_i_/status/1753022349866385695 This guys is practically re-sculpting the entire kit, which also explains why he never posted about this kit again since February lmao, it's taking him that long. He even remade the eyes just to get a more aggressive angle.
Rising freedom really has these HG XX thighs. Shit it so small it's almost funny. I thought you're more of Justice person, huh. Thank you for this awesome vid, there's really something warm and cozy in your videos. And good luck with the relocation, comrade!
I mean, you are right, I am more of a Justice person lol. That one is coming soon. This build was inspired by Naoki's post on how he is modifying the head of Rising Freedom, there's so much to be possibly done on this kit so I thought it'd make a good video, but I did start doubting my decision halfway into it lmao
Probably just to make the other lines look better to customers, I honestly don't know. Also there are two designs, the Okawara Kunio design and the Satoshi Shigeta design (which is what's actually in the movies), the Robot Spirits version is based on the Satoshi Shigeta design, whereas the HG is a blend between the two, and we all know Okawara Kunio's proportions suck
@@comradegunpla The proportions is a YMMV, as while you may find it "stocky", I think it's proportions are mostly perfect: not too thin (like I think the Robot Spirits version is), but still an improvement over the old HG SEED kits. I actually prefer the look of the HG to the Robot Spirits overall, especially when it comes to the darker colors and the more flared-out wings that look better in HiMAT. It's also odd to say that the HG Rising Freedom is "hated" as a kit when it's one of the more popular kits I've seen people assemble most anywhere, and by all indications it's sold pretty well. The hate on its appearance mostly lasted as long as people didn't have hands on the kit.
@@StrikeNoir105E oh, I totally agree that people liked the kit once they got it, but initially when the kit was first announced people definitely hated it. I saw so many comments saying “why did they do this to freedom” You can obviously have preferences, it’s always “to each their own”, but I definitely think a lot of people prefer the thinner and taller design.
Not for this build specifically because 3mm is just enough for the inner frame to still work. Any longer than that, you might have to either extend the inner frame, or extend the hip joint peg (which I think is easier)
i wish rising freedom had the same height as other hg freedom mostly Strike Freedom. it was too short 😣 i wish there is a simple way to improve this kit height without need to cut/add on or repaint just for the sake of make the cuatom kit color same..

LMAO if you just go slow it’s completely fine, they are sharp enough to cut through most things, it’s just if you snip with full force they can snap. Had this same pair since 2019.
the legs is kinda funny i watch lots of professional japanese modeler think of it and they modified the thigh a little bit to make it longer. professional gundam modelers see's we cannot see and a fan of gundam for a long time since 2010 i understand the body proportions, technology and all of the Sh*t. you know what i mean. art is art but. i dont know lol
Honestly, you only have to compare it to the movie design, and the Robot Spirits version which is very faithful to the movie design to see what's missing, I'm personally not artsy so I can only look to reference photos, lol
Whoa.
That was some really intensive work. But it was all worth it. Another beautiful custom.

As always another awesome video
Honestly your videos' vibes are super chill and i can binge watching all of them without feeling fatigue!
You totally made Rising Freedom rise above and beyond on its own! Great job and looking forward to your next builds! Safe travels to Minnesota!
thanks for the details in how you go through your process, super super helpful for someone learning like me!
that's the goal!!
Ditto!
Beautiful work, i learned so much from this project
Great video! I'm a big fan of the freedom line and this custom work just made the rising freedom pop.

Do you paint the joint part(I think it's called hip joint) which connects the leg and the skirt part or just mask them
For this one I did, part of the reason why the kit didn't stand up on its own is because the waist was kind of loose so painting all the joints around that area helps it to stand better. For other kits without the standing problem though, I'd mask the joints.
Could you do something similar with the RG sinanju, I've been having problems with it but it's my favorite design and I wanna make it more stable.
