    I love that you have really been sticking to brush painting. It’s nice because not all of us have the luxury of an airbrush and I feel like we need a dedicated no airbrush gunpla painter on RUclips.

      Thank you! I see that there’s a good interest for brush painting, so I will cover more of it in the upcoming videos. I also don’t have the space for an airbrush setup, so brush painting will be my way to go for the future!

    I've gotten into the habit of painting the inner frames of my gunpla. I almost exclusively build MGs, so I always have an inner frame to work with. I like to airbrush with a gunmetal (either grey or blue), detail with a gundam marker and give the whole thing a gloss topcoat. Since I put a matte finish on the armor pieces, I think it gives a nice contrast.
    I also tried drybrushing the inner frame of my Barbatos with silver over black primer and it looks great.

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla  2 месяца назад +1

      Markers are a nice and quick way to detail indeed, I have been using them too here and there. Unfortunately I don't have the space for an airbrush set up, maybe in the future.
      I also agree on the dry brushing technique to be very good. I will probably cover it in an upcoming video.

    Thank you for the guide. As a father of two with two jobs, painting gunpla (or anything that takes time) is no longer an option for me. I do still want to improve the gunpla, and this guide is just perfect. I just want to improve color separation and not to paint the whole kit. I believe Bandai already made a good color separation and we only need to paint the parts they left out.
    Edit: also thank you for using brush, I do not have the luxury of airbrushing as my house is very small and doesn't have good ventilation.

      It is actually simple:
      Paint will make the surface of the plastic gets thicker so to counter it, it is better to sand down the surface a little bit before paint it.

    • @Demoncradle

      @@akhdannaufaldy1693it makes the paint adhere to the surface better is really the reason for sanding first. But yeah thickness can be an issue

    What a great video for someone who is just starting painting gunpla like me! I have a question: What is the brand of primer that you use and wich one do you recommend?
    I'm from Venezuela, where there's not a great selection of brands, in fact there's almost no selection, so I need to know alternatives brands for primers and paintings. Thank you and keep the good job!

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla  2 месяца назад +2

      Thank you very much! If you're starting now I suggest to watch my previous guide on brush painting, if you didn't already! There a lot of info about tools and techniques.
      The colors I am using are from Sheik Mainland (SM), a brand I really like because it's really thin, and helps a lot with having a smooth result. Unfortunately it's not so easy to source. I don't really know which brands are available in Venezuela, but the most famous are probably Vallejo Acrylics. They have all the regular colors, metal one, primers and varnishes. Another option could be Citadel Colors.
      Hopefully you can find somewhere online where to get some of them!

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla  2 месяца назад +1

      Thank you so much! It’s an acrylic gloss coat/varnish. It’s from a brand I really like, Sheik Mainland, code RBT1115K. Unless you’re in Asia they are pretty hard to find, unfortunately. You can use in case the acrylic gloss varnish by Vallejo, it will work on the same way

      @@TeaandGunpla I've watched your videos on hand painting the Gouf Custom. Do you think that we can masked the part to paint like for airbrushing?

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla  2 месяца назад

      Honestly, you could but it's going to be pretty risky. The paint will be ticker than it would with an airbrush. When removing the tape there is an high chance to have a big "step" of paint, which will be pretty ugly to see. You could also chip the paint.

    I've head that ABS plastic, the softer plastic in a lot of inner frames, can be melted by some paints that are even generally plastic safe. Is basic priming enough to keep this from happening?

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla  Месяц назад

      Acrylic paints are 100% safe on any plastic. What really can damage plastic are lacquer paints. Priming should make it safe, but you need to check that the primer itself doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals

    any trick with the top coat so it doesn't give you freeze effect?

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla  2 месяца назад +2

      You have to make sure to:
      - Shake the can really well for a minute
      - Spray from 30cm pretty much
      - Fully press the nozzle down
      - Don't be stingy, if you see some frosting try spraying a bit more.
      If you are doing all of this and you still have issues it could be that the environment is too hot or dry. The top coat needs to stay liquid for a bit to spread evenly.
      Hopefully this will help!
