    Hello, great tutorial, I just subscribed 👏 But I suggest using the other version of Raser for that specific piece. The Raser Origin, the thinner one, it's smaller and less harsh, so it's more suitable for those kind of pieces. Anyways, I hope you make a video about some Balancer alternatives. I enjoy the Balancer as well but I've noticed that they wear out after multiple kits, I guess I enjoy them too much. They're effective but kinda pricey for me, since I keep buying them. I hope there are some good alternatives for that tool.

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla 2 дня назад

      Thanks for the sub and for the advice! I had been trying different products for polishing the kits, and the balancer is still the best choice, unfortunately. You can swap to cheaper polish boxes, use higher grits or even polishing creams, but the easiness to use and speed of the balancer rest unmatched!

    Amazing video as always :) I do have a few questions, namely is there anything you do to protect the metallic shine on the metallic paints when you flat topcoat? I recently finished a paint project and I tried out a bit of gunmetal which looked really nice, but it lost its sheen when I topcoated it. Do you have any advice to keep it shinier? Maybe a gloss/semi-gloss topcoat would be better? Also, where do you get your pla plating? I've been looking online for some and I can't seem to find any store that has it. Your videos are really motivating and inspiring, makes me want to do more painting projects!

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla 6 дней назад

      Thank you so much. I honestly like the tone down effect of the flat topcoat on my metallic colors. If you want to keep the shininess, you have two options. The first is using a gloss or semi-gloss coating, but I am not a huge fan of the final result (personal opinion). The other is switching to metal markers. The ones from Ray Studio, for example, are pretty scratch resistant and, paying a bit of attention, won't get ruined easily. They can be applied with brushes too and you can do panel lining with acrylic on top without worries. For the pla plates, I used the ones from Dspiae, you can check their shop if they deliver to your location: dspiaestore.com/products/dspiae-pc-gy-plastic-plate-for-model-customization-diy-parts?srsltid=AfmBOor22FuVd6Ls1_BB_AVtbNG5V0ElHueL89jNwGShXjiuUABPm7JL Let me know if anything is unclear!

    I am very thankful I got an airbrush. I always sucked at hand painting. Never had the patience to wait for coats to dry and I'd always end up with brush marks. I really like how you mix two shades of blue on the armour plates. I'm planning on redoing my MG MkII. It was the first MG kit I ever built and it is more than a little rough. I already disassembled it and stripped the (bad) gloss coat I gave it. It's been sitting in a container as I finish my current project (Sazabi VerKa) I may take a few things from this video when I finally get around to painting it.

    Do you have any advice for brush-painting very bright colours like white or offwhite? I've been using offwhite for a project myself and I find that brush marks are a lot more apparent when using that colour compared to others

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla 10 дней назад

      Unfortunately white is a pain, it’s probably the hardest color to paint. My suggestion is to apply a lot of really thin layers to minimize the strokes. It’s easy to get fed up and start using too much paint trying to get coverage. You should also know that it will probably still look a bit patchy at the end, but once you spray a flat topcoat is gonna be alright. Maybe do a test on a spoon if you don’t feel confident

    • @VelenZaiga
      @VelenZaiga 9 дней назад

      @@Amy_CoolShark I can doubly confirm what Tea said. I've tried to handpaint white on parts before using Gundam Marker. *it does not work very well on the first go.* This is because white is the brightest general color you can have, so anything of the original color showing through will stick out like a sore thumb. You just need to be patient with it.

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla 11 дней назад

      Make sure you apply a black primer for the metallic paint. The first coat has to be pretty dry, almost like dry brushing it. Then you can apply regular coatings. If you didn’t, I suggest watching the inner frame tutorial I posted, I explain the metallic paints there

      @TeaandGunpla 18 дней назад

      Thanks for subbing! Honestly, I never used the pen on the acrylic coat, but I’m pretty sure that the chemicals you’ll need to clean up would mess up both coat and paint. If you don’t want to use an acrylic filler/wash and clean it with water, I would suggest to just use a spray gloss topcoat, like the one from Mr. Hobby

    The shoulders are tricky to make posable and stable. The problem is if you stabilize one part the pressure is transferred to the other part then the elbow and so on. It's a real hornets nest. Ultra lite florocarbon line used in finishing threaded between the 90° bends over (under the armor) down the back would do it but would need adjustment every time you pose it. This is the problem with our kits. They don't have muscles and tendons, just friction and joints.

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla 24 дня назад

      I know, right? That's why some external support really helps. The beam cannons actually weight on the torso, and that's pretty stable. I managed to create a couple of brackets to keep them in place too. I think it should work fine.

    • @TeaandGunpla

      Thank you! First of all, don’t expect miracles. You can clean it but it won’t get white again. What it will do is stopping leaving black streak marks. With Tamiya just get zippo lighter fluid, damp the eraser and pass it multiple times on some absorbent paper. Repeat the process until it doesn’t leave any color on the paper. Still, be prepared to change the tip at least once for every kit, if not more.

    When I started I bought all the tools I used. Now that I have been building for 10+ years I make my own tools mainly for comfort 😂 (except for nippers and sanding sponges. Still buy quality ones)

    After you paint finish your part. Is it okay to use a spray gloss coat like Mr Top coat gloss instead of painting a gloss coat on?

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla Месяц назад

      It’s totally fine, you can use any gloss topcoat you prefer.

      Is it okay if the top coat is lacquer based?@@TeaandGunpla

    • @TeaandGunpla
      @TeaandGunpla Месяц назад

      It’s a bit risky to be honest. Lacquer is really strong and there is the risk to ruin the paint. I would avoid it. Stick to enamel or acrylic and make sure the paint is nicely dried

    When I saw the thumbnail I was like "Oh noo. Wtf happened here". Good recovery tho goodjob!❤ I always have a molten runner in acrylic thinner. It levels easily on application if its thin and can act like a putty when thick enough.

    If you lightly sand the surface after engraving, sometimes dust can lodge itself inside those lines. A make-up brush from the dollar store will make quick work of that.

    There's a side benefit to also having a cheap cutting blade set in addition to that. With a Dremel, you can modify the blades you don't need for other purposes, like shaving a thin engraved line to the side of where two parts meet or making generic chamfer shapes. Takes a bit of practice and creative planning, but you can achieve some great engraving effects with that and a cheapo set only costs ten bucks or so.
