    Tbh it's kinda hilarious that this comes out basically a year after these kits started to roll in to the us. I definitely think that these kits are gunna become really popular for customs (especially the grunts) and I'm glad you are getting into them. Great work as always btw. And for the paper texture issue maybe a glossy paper might work better. Or a glossy sticker paper if you have a printer that can handle it. Might be able to produce a better more sticker like result without having to mask out super tiny lines.

    Great work as always! I didn't really notice how stocky the HG Aerial is until after I built it, and I think that the mods that you did to the proportions really elevate it's sleek-ness in a way that brings it in-line with what I imagine Aerial should look like.
    I always underrate how much open-hands can add to the dynamicity of a pose, unfortunate that they locked it behind the Mirasoul Flight unit. Also, hilarious that the metaverse leak actually came in clutch for you here.

    1. Witch From Mercury was just starting when I finally fell into Gunpla and I LOVED the first season and a lot of the ideas it was playing with. Then the second season came and went and I was left just feeling, like, ???? That's it?? It really felt like there should have been at LEAST a third cour, if not a fourth. The back half felt so messy and rushed compared to how decompressed season one was.
    2. Watching your process for extending the antenna, I was wondering if you've ever messed around with using baking soda to kick off your CA glue? It was a trick one of my bosses taught me in a model shop for a TV show I worked in a few years ago. It sets the glue just as fast as Zip Kicker, the powder helps add volume to the piece for sanding down, and it's significantly less likely to give you bladder cancer, haha. I still use Zip Kicker all the time but the baking soda technique is super helpful when I need to build volume.
    Anyway, love your videos as always. A bit too intense for me in terms of Gunpla but lots of great ideas to carry into my original builds.

      Baking soda + CA glue is a classic trick, for Chinese modelers at least, I saw a lot of people doing that when I was still a teenager in China since they couldn't afford fancy Tamiya plastic cements. I think they didn't even use baking soda - they used baby powder lol. It's a super cheap way to make fillers, back then all of them were doing that on seamlines. The downside being the end result is extremely tough so it's a lot harder to sand, and also you have to actually mix that stuff and work pretty quickly after. It's still a viable technique though. The Starbond thick is pretty much the same idea, it's just CA glue with a resin filler, but it stays liquid in the bottle so I have all the time in the world. But yeah, over all it's the same idea. Good job on connecting the dots!!

    • @Xenofauna
      @Xenofauna Год назад

      @@comradegunpla OH. I wasn't aware of the different composition of the Starbond! I just assumed it was the same as the BSI thick style CA that I tend to use. Thanks for the info!!

      @@Xenofauna Yep, it's this woodworking glue brand I found when I was trying to find a glue similar to Cyanon, which is a glue that all Japanese modelers use. They got a couple of really versatile filler glues and I've been hooked since. I don't think any other modeler is really using these Starbond glues. Their white glue is especially really really good, cures exactly like ABS plastic, perfect for filling a large area.

    great review! i agree that the Aerial is a little overhyped, it has a few more stickers and seam lines than i'd like, plus the effect parts being the wrong colour sucks. still pretty awesome overall though imo
    as for the show's ending, the thing that gets me about G-Witch's conclusion, as much as i love the show, is that it feels like a step back from IBO thematically. IBO's halfway point is G-Witch's endpoint, and the former has a lot more time to feel out what actually happens when you try to do Late Capitalism But More Ethical, which is mostly a lot of really bad shit.

    • @comradegunpla

      I never got around making a video on this and I don't know if people would still be into it, but my idea is Sunrise probably only wants one major show reeling in revenue at a time since running multiple shows at the same time oversaturates the audience and doesn't bring more people in (kind of like how Amazon canceled The Tick once it got The Boys, redundancy in taste clusters) and they were gonna push the Gundam Multiverse and the new Freedom movie, both lower effort than building a new IP that's controversial with certain weirdos.
      Corporate probably thought they raked in enough with Season 1 of WfM, wanted to focus on the capital gain promised by Multiverse (which was a huge flop) and the guaranteed revenue from Seed Freedom (nostalgia IP, always gonna be a big earner) so the suits probably just wanted to cut WfM short to not compete with the other IPs. Again, entirely my own speculations based on my understanding on public companies with oblivious management. A very typical consultant move.

      @@comradegunpla i think that makes a lot of sense. i really think Bandai was caught off-guard by what a huge hit G-Witch was, because they would probably have tried to sustain that gravy train a little longer otherwise, instead of taking a hard left right into the Metaverse trainwreck.

    Hey, Comrade! WfM left us with so many questions and I doubt we will evet got the answers. A little bit surprised tomatoes weren't as important as watermelons in Evangelion, but oh well. I would really love to see Bandai incorporating all the new tech for the future HGs. and not leaving it as WfM line exclusive. It seems that at least plastic seals are way more viable now, Gundam 00 Diver Arc will have them for the GN-drives detail.
    When I was building Shcwarzette, I thought that plastic seals would work incredibly well on something like Gundam X/XX. Add some clear purple/blue parts for the satellite system and we have a whole revive kit ready.
    Glad to finally see the finished build. Great work as always, really love the extdended horns. Is it my imagination or did I notice one of the Pharact parts, while you were working on the the kit? Also did your forget to paint the back of the feet, or was it a design choice? Would love to know what you're planning to do next, your builds and videos never disappoint!
    P. S. leak came in clutch C:

      LMAO you caught me, I was gonna fill in the back of the feet with hand painting but idk, just didn't like how it was going to look. I might still go back and fill it in later.
      And good to know about the plastic seals in Build kits, I never really paid attention to them so completely missed out on that news. It is honestly some crazy tech that Bandai is developing there.
      You did indeed see Pharact parts, almost done with that. I'm pretty ADHD coded so I'm constantly working on like 5 different projects at the same time, which is kind of awful. Every time I shoot a footage where I need to zoom out a bit I always have to shove everything else off the table lol

    • @back_dash
      @back_dash Год назад

      @@comradegunpla sorry to be that guy! It seems that plastic seals are just the beginning. Both new Burning and 00 Diver Arc have some new tech for their clear parts. I think for the Diver arc it's somewhat light-reactive and glowing in the dark? And for the burning it's just some new type of resin or coating (?), so it can slightly change the color, depending how light is falling on the part. Definitely excited to see what's Bandai R&D team has for us in store.
      Nice, can't wait for all the next builds and videos!

    • @comradegunpla
      @comradegunpla  Год назад

      The default answer is Godhands, or really any single blade nipper would do for a budget. I have a pair of the Madworks single blade, it's not as good as the Godhands but still pretty ok.
      My real contrarian answer though, is if you think you'll upgrade to airbrushing kits later, don't even bother with cleaning nubs. Cleaning nubs for snap building vs painting can be very different, and when you fix nubs/top coat right now, it actually makes it harder to paint later.

    wow, side by side your finished kit makes the original proportions look stubby. I wonder how long the wfm honey moon phase will last. A lot of people over look the plot holes just because it features a female protagonist in love with another female. Just look at how mad people got when bandai said their relationship at the end was up for interpretation, and wouldnt confirm they were married.

    • @comradegunpla
      @comradegunpla  Год назад +1

      The honeymoon is already over, WfM is not gonna go down as a memorable Gundam series, but tbh the "queerbaiting" relationship isn't the issue at all with the series. The issue is just it's incredibly mid.
      I'm gonna talk about this more when I finally make my WfM rant video, but we have this misconception that queer relationships in entertainment have to be somehow "profound" whereas they don't have to be at all. Movies and TV shows feature straight hot characters all the time, not because some sort of plot development purposes, they are just there to attract viewers. Relationships in anime are teased for baiting shippers in the fanbase all the time. Queer relationships are just put on a different standard because we somehow assign them more purpose. To me Bandai's move in denying the marriage is no different than like, idols in Japan always hiding their relationship status in fear of angering fans.
      The issue is WfM is just mid, which makes it easy to attack every other aspect of it, so when people scoff at the queer baiting, it's a lot harder to defend it. Kind of like how Balder's Gate 3 was really gay, but you'd be a clown by every standard if you get triggered by it, whereas it's a lot more "acceptable" to shit on Starfield for having a pronoun option, because Starfield is a lot more mid.

    • @comradegunpla
      @comradegunpla  Год назад +2

      Oh I guess also because that Prologue was so good, like, it was literally on EVA level, I think the disappointment from season 2 became greater. They raised incredible expectations from viewers, so the crash came harder, especially since they raised that expectation again with the season 1 tomato ending.
