As long as Bandai does not entirelyneglect the 1/100 scale and release great quality FM kits like the Aerial (which feels quasi-MG), then I'm fine too.
The fact this comes with a fully transformable Core Fighter, with so much detail, blew me away. I really hope this means we can get an RG ZZ Gundam with this kind of engineering in it
The question is how the legs flip and turn... For such a small size and complex transformations, there's no way they wouldn't slap the pre built Advanced MS Joint for that rite
Granted, they've had practice with making a transformable Core Fighter with the Impulse's Core Splendor (Hell, I'd even go so far as to say that the Splendor is more intricate than the OG Fighter).
I was ready to see how awesome this new RG RX-78-2 is, but mecha showing he can turn from a dog to a human at the beginning was something I was not prepared for.
I'd love to see this compared to the PGU. Both of these kits have been revolutionary to their designated lines, and i'd love to see how both have been able to change Gunpla in their own ways.
The RG Freedom Gundam already has a 1.5 technically speaking at least. Sure it still uses some of the old parts but it basically is still changed A LOT.
Yo if this is a sign for where the future of gunpla is going my wallet is gonna hurt. I've always wanted more affordable models that have a detailed skeleton...
so for some of the joints they basically removed the traditional pegs into hole type of connection. this drastically reduces the amount of parts needed. however unlike c-clips they wont get stressed out easily and benefits from added friction when the side walls rub against each other, making the joints stiffer
After building quite a few MGs, I have come to really love inner frames. So this gets me all excited. I hope to see this kind of detail on future kits' inner frames.
Okay, who tried to bestow the Sharingan onto a Gundam, and why wasn't it Deathscythe-Hell or God Gundam or Exia!? This kit looks absolutely sick. And I fully expect a pearlescent finish (whether they call it metallic or whatever) repaint to come sooner rather than later; gotta milk the mold for all it's worth, after all. And despite how many parts it seems to have, it looks like it's a way simpler build than even the likes of RG Exia...😮😮😮😮😮😮 And the V-fin is basically attached to the baseball cap visor? Nice!!
As a person who builds gunpla and a fan of Gundam, mostly UC stuff, for about 5 years, I think it's time for me to own Grandaddy Gundam and this new RG is a good one to have. I love the redesign on the Rx-78-2 and the details too
Something that I just thought about that could be really neat, is alternate battle damaged armor pieces. Have some armor parts cracked and deformed, some armor parts with open bullet holes to reveal inner frame detail, beam saber slashes or explosion streaks, etc. I think I'd pay extra every now and then for a + version of a big ticket kit that comes with all the regular armor parts, but then also a few extra trees with a bunch of alternate battle damaged armor parts. That would be so fun to paint up too
i cannot wait to get mine in the mail, this looks awesome. RG has surpassed MG. its easier to display/shelve, takes up less space, is perfewct for older gunpla builders who dont have room for giant display cases but want to build gunpla.
I thought this was gonna be mid as hell just because it was a 1/144th scale RX-78-2 kit but I was immediately proven wrong in a heartbeat… I REALLY hope that they give this quality to other RG’s in the future or at the very least.. other RG 2.0s and this isn’t just special treatment for the OG because OH MY GOD!
Man, the hype for this one is real. I can't wait to have and build one. I'm just waiting for the prices to go down as this is not yet available locally.
The Japan economy is currently in the shitter, so I'm not surprised they're prioritizing developing smaller kits over larger ones. Smaller = less plastic = easier to produce and turn profit. Frankly I'm just glad they aren't in the middle of a new longform anime so they can't make new, tinier 1/144 model kits like they did with the F91 and the Victory kits.
True, but at this point, I think Bandai is trying to bring innovation for every grade, I feel like standard MGs have already gotten as good as it can be, that’s why we’ve only gotten Ver.Ka and MGEX releases lately as they’re the only MG releases that continue to push the envelope of what that grade is capable of, but idk I could be wrong
*MG 1/100 and PG 1/60 already dead a long time ago anyway with the current era prefer smaller and details kits with affortable range price and easy to mass produce in short time* 💹
Have you not seen the MGEX models? That seems like a lot of love to me. Also since 2020 there have been more retail MG releases (13) vs retail RG releases (9). The MG Narrative was also just four months ago.
@@jarik7658 years back you would get a mg nearly every month or two. Now their 1/100 releases are either very ka, rehashes, p bandai, or mgex. The days of the regular ol mg kit are pretty much over
If you leave the head cameras clear and shine light through it from the back, you can actually see that the clear plaatic has that nice detail you see on the sticker
Some people say that the vulcans on the rg 2.0 are a bit out of place, making the head look a bit weird and the vulcans peek out half way, some people get around this by making small adjustments to make them gee out all the way to look better
I really hope they release a version of this where the colored parts are in clear plastic, so you can still show off the inner frame once it's all put together.
This really makes me hope for a crossbone x3 RG and possibly a MUCH deserved full cloth RG. Currently there is NO full cloth kit representing the UC full cloth that isn't either an old impossible to find pbandai (hguc), a HUGE hand grenade (MG), isn't the UC version (hgbf) or doesn't need A LOT of color correction (actually all of them). I feel like bandai's black magic has finally reached a technical level where a decent full cloth can finally be achieved.
the only thing I want to die happy is a Sinanju 2.0 also, while it's total a shot in the dark, I do wonder if it's able to use the broken RX78 arm/head parts that were included with the RG Zeong somehow
I've worked with AutoCAD before and honestly, this kind of engineering and design for inner frames on a model kit is insane. Idk what's holding Bandai back from making an RG/MG Atlas Gundam though
they way you built it looks like the PG Unleashed. Bandai now needs to create a RG Kshatriya (the disrespect to builders to not having it already created in MG, PG or RG)
Please use the backpack of the calibarn or the destiny 🙏 also, please dont gloss over putting any panel lining on the whole body, even if you are on a battlogue
Can you use the core block from the original RG to replace the core fighter in this one? My hope is that they make a 2.0 of the RG Aile Strike. Since they're making an RG Akatsuki as well, ideally they'd make a new frame for it that would be reuseable on a 2.0 of the Strike
Would love to see the Zeta Gundam get a 2.0 upgrade because I keep seeing way to many copies' joints and parts either falling apart or breaking while transformation, especially the inner frame. Including others that didn't last long after being built. ( Not saying that they WILL, but would be cool to see them upgraded one day.)
My first gundam was the rg rx-78, built with scissors and a nail file, i didnt know the rating system and it scared me away for a while.ive built 3 hgs since and I think ill have to get one of these to see how it goes,
ok yeah, I need this kit in the backlog holy shit lol. I'm hoping that every line from the HG's up is upgraded in this way. very much a good quality of life change to kits lol.
RG is my all time favorite line. So excited to get this is in. Now that the granddaddy looks like this, they could give us the Thunderbolt next! As for 2.0s we need the Sinanju and Zeta!

As unfortunate as that is, personally it doesn’t bother me that much. RG is my favorite line
As long as Bandai does not entirelyneglect the 1/100 scale and release great quality FM kits like the Aerial (which feels quasi-MG), then I'm fine too.
I hope not, my uncle is getting old and he cant do small parts no more, he sticks with mg’s now
I'd say it's because there's just not enough shelf space for big kits
but they keep making big ass HG kits
It'll be ok

@@kevintang2605💀
if there's a rg ZZ, it will be less detailed than this rx 78. The best case scenario is bandai making a structurally simplified 1/144 zz verka.

I'd kill for an -Avalanche- Exia update
I definitely going to hunt this RG soon! I think it’s amongst the best RG I’ve ever seen! And I’ve built HI-NU and G GUNDAM!
It’s literally a mini perfect grade but affordable
A scaled down PGU grandaddy arguably
@stormgalaxypegasus exactly my point, if we hadn't had the PGU, this kit wouldn't have existed imo
What’s the expensive mini pg?
Funny how I can physically sense the RG Hi-Nu sweating in the background
No joke, though, an RG Nu 2.0 would be kinda amazing, especially if they figured out a way to get the funnels to be even more stable.
@@Darkrai9087 An RG2.0 Nu may be the single best Gunpla ever made (unless they make an RG2.0 Hi Nu)

This tiny Gundam kit packs a punch! The level of detail and engineering is mind-blowing!
i can already see this being a good kit for an rx78 x ray diorama, in a hangar with federation crew putting on final additions
