Loving the RG Gundam 2.0 overall! One thing I wish it had, though, is a dummy core block. It would’ve added some extra structure and depth, even if you can still show it off with the core fighter out

When the ankles are fine, its always funny to see about someone blaming a certain part for not giving an ab crunch. Like... Have you seen this Gundam with that level of articulation in the Anime? Or is it because you expect it to be like the RG God Gundam of ab crunch in a sense? Anyways, I can't wait to test out the turning joints and enjoy the kit myself next month.

Mine got put on backorder too, and I pre-ordered it on the day it was announced. I think maybe people like us got our orders in too late and they might have sold out on the first release of it. So maybe we just wait a bit and then we'll receive them 👍

It seems like the backpack design with the beam saber points is specifically something that would work great for the cannon part there. Actually, out of curiosity, can the current ones from the HGGTO gramps work with those slots?
Although that new hand grabbing system is a little bit annoying, I think it is an improvement. Old one has a plug but the problem is since the model is small, it creates a very fragile part especially that you have to be extra careful when assembling or dissembling them. Sometimes I just leave guns with hands attached to them because I am afraid of breaking the plug. Well, of course I broke some especially in aged kits. So, it is not a perfect design for sure but it is an improved one I guess.
I think the lack of a pilot is due to it being an extreme loss risk and that painting them is a bloody pain. It probably isn't worth the cost of modelling the tiny character.
@@zafranorbian757 100%, but just not enough options since the 2019 revamp. I think half my kits arent available in RG, and the ones that are are early RGs and need this 2.0 treatment
Regarding the rifle-holding hand: Why hasn't Bandai created a hand with a pivot point that allows the hand to open? Instead of always having to remove the top of the hand, why not make it pivot like a clam shell? Makes so much more sense to me!
They tried with the early real grades and let's just say it did not work out. the hands are a hassle to fit into the handles and some can't even support the weight of the rifles. So Bandai decided to just use non-moving pose hands instead.
They've done it with older kits, and it was flimsy and it was wonky. They tend to fail at their job of holding the weapons as well. The older Master Grades also did so with more solid plastic, with the addition of a peg, but even so.... They still fail to do their job. I've been there, and both RG and MG poseable hands are just flimsy, their grip not as great as fixed posed hands.
The thing that concerns me is whether this'll be revolutionary for the kit line moving forward or if its just a one-off anniversary kit. I would hope this is the beginning of a new generation of RG, so I dont have to feel bad about not ever getting kits pre-strike Gundam lol. After seeing this build I cant help but think that standard MG is pretty much over for Bandai. This kit alone puts 90% of MG kits to shame with the frame alone. Its cheaper to produce, lighter and smaller for shipping purposes in regards to cost and quantity. Now it comes with a legit 4.0 inner frame that I would assume would cost easily twice as much to engineer and manufactor for a MG kit. Bandai seemingly doesnt care to want to invest in MG for the future, otherwise they would have just made a 4.0 MG instead of this RG kit with all of these improvements.
I dont like the faded blue color on the chest, if you look at the perfect grade that color is more of the original. Might have to color spray this one which I rarely do for RG kits
The core block really is a detriment for the granddaddy. Bandai put it aside for once and we got the masterpiece that was the mg origin. The first gunpla god of articulation
Actually the Core Block does have a mechanism so you can get a pretty good ab crunch out of it, but I still would like it if they had included a static Block just so I don't have to finagle with it sometimes.
Hey I gotta quick pick your brain question about gunpla primer. I can't seem to find pink water based primer so would it work if I used Mr hobby aqueous gray and painted pink on top followed by yellow would it give me a similar effect as just the pink primer?
Did you buy it at shopee or lazada on those chinese or japan shops? Or did you pre order it? Cause its not yet available in sm or toytown and if you did not preorder it on legit stores then you bought it on scalper price. That kit is only around 2400+ anything beyond that is scalper price. Even sm wont charge you 3000+ on this kit.
The hand is complex, but not needlessly. Sliding together will hold weapons much more firmly than the HG method. Then the back locks the pieces together. Of all the problems with Frame Arms, the hands are just better than Bandai hands.
Which one should I build first, this or PG unleashed? I have PG unleashed on the backlog, and was planning for it, to be my only PG/ultimate build experience. But seeing the enthusiasm on this RG, I am not sure if this 3.0 version will undermine the PG build experience. Any opinions/view would be appreciated 🙏
From my experience, I have to say RG 2.0 inherited a lot of design from PGU. If you want a tiny PGU that can be played on your hand, then RG 2.0 first, otherwise PGU.
i went back to this video to see what the problem was cuz mine didnt have any. turns out my head part fits perfectly for some reason and has none of that millimeter distance. is it just some kits then?
This kit's announcement pretty much sparked my interest in maybe getting into the RG Universal Century. I would want to get at least the main mobile suit besides the one from the Zeta series until we get an RG 2.0. Then I'll hope for an RG for: - MSZ-010 ΖΖ Gundam - LM312V04 Victory Gundam - Second V - LM312V04+SD-VB03A V-Dash Gundam - LM314V21 Victory 2 Gundam - LM314V23 Victory 2 Buster Gundam - LM314V24 Victory 2 Assault Gundam - LM314V23/24 Victory 2 Assault-Buster ...etc
I have but one nitpick on the aesthetics: the chest vents should be sunken in, without the yellow border. Iirc the RG line is meant to best represent how these mobile suits would look irl. And the OG Gundam has received at least two life-sized models; neither of them had yellow-bordered chest vents.
And after this, we go back to the good old release schedule of 0 MG + 5 HG and its 50 P-Bandai variants

Rotating joints made of plastic, especially tiny ones like in the Real Grades, are just asking for things to fall apart in the near future
I've been there, and both RG and MG poseable hands are just flimsy, their grip not as great as fixed posed hands.
what if you carve back the openings for the vulcans in the head? those look to be where it is holding up
At 29:34 how'd he get the ankles to bend back like that without the calf armor opening?
Wait, there is no more stand adapter piece included? Didn't all RG kits had it before?
Regarding to the colour of the vulcans certain rx 78 2 designs do have the vulcans in grey... Mostly seen in redesigns of the rx 78 2
2024 onward gonna be a "remake" of a ride
5:14 I've always gotten 3rd party water decals, where would one get the official Bandai ones when they're released?
Now that I actually got and put this kit together …I really hope we get anime accurate version
Which one do you prefer? MG 3.0 or RG 2.0?
What's next? ZZ? Master Gundam? Ex-S? Wing Zero? Char's Gelgoog?
Hope we get more 2.0s. I know everybody wants a Zeta, but Zeon needs some love with a new Zaku.
This kit is almost the same price with my RG Hi Nu Gundam here in the Philippines. Talk about double.
It shouldn't be, it's a full £10 less in the UK
I thought they added articulation on the core fighter/block specifically to add the ab crunch while it's inside 🤔
I preordered this through hlj back when it first went up but looks like they didn’t get enough stock as I’m still waiting for it 😢
This is what the RG 1.0 hoped to achieve more than a decade ago
27:00 We call them Hotrod shoulders for simplicity’s sake
hoping we get this 1/100 one day. I've yet to build a grandaddy because the proportions never felt quite right besides the PGs
Mecha, can you please tell me what Camera you’re using for your videos? I’m always stunned about your quality work 🙏
The hand is complex, but not needlessly. Sliding together will hold weapons much more firmly than the HG method. Then the back locks the pieces together.
Of all the problems with Frame Arms, the hands are just better than Bandai hands.
Bandai needs to start making more rgs and mgs again. Cant wait for the mg vidar.
@@1nvisible-o8q thanks bro, yes I think will go with RG 2.0 first then PGU.
What color did you panel line the white and blue bits? is that a black, light gray, or dark gray?
From what I’m seeing it’s the Perfect Grade Unleashed as a RG
Please feature MGEX 1/100 Strike Freedom Gundam (Midnight Coating). Thanks 🙏
i went back to this video to see what the problem was cuz mine didnt have any. turns out my head part fits perfectly for some reason and has none of that millimeter distance. is it just some kits then?
Welcome back Grandpa.
Waterslides are a must for RGs.
I think you might've assembled the ankles wrongly, I don't think the gap between the shin and the ankle armour is supposed to be that big.
Does this RG has better articulation than MG RX78-2 Ver 3.0?
Is there a Zaku version of this. I've had rx plenty of times. Want something different.
5.3 inches is a PERFECTLY fine size for RX-78. So what if it is small...it works for me. I'm talking about the model and absolutely nothing else...
This kit's announcement pretty much sparked my interest in maybe getting into the RG Universal Century. I would want to get at least the main mobile suit besides the one from the Zeta series until we get an RG 2.0. Then I'll hope for an RG for:
- MSZ-010 ΖΖ Gundam
- LM312V04 Victory Gundam
- Second V
- LM312V04+SD-VB03A V-Dash Gundam
- LM314V21 Victory 2 Gundam
- LM314V23 Victory 2 Buster Gundam
- LM314V24 Victory 2 Assault Gundam
- LM314V23/24 Victory 2 Assault-Buster
...etc
@xxnike0629xx Really? You'll gonna hoard RG BOXES again? LUL
@xxnike0629xx even if you actually do it, sure thing you'll still ...
@xxnike0629xx refuse to build a kit again in the end ...
@xxnike0629xx you'll sell them online and very overpriced ...
@xxnike0629xx and you'll still continue to fire anti-UC cheap shots LUL
Would u consider this the new king of rg's?
I have but one nitpick on the aesthetics: the chest vents should be sunken in, without the yellow border.
Iirc the RG line is meant to best represent how these mobile suits would look irl. And the OG Gundam has received at least two life-sized models; neither of them had yellow-bordered chest vents.
It joins the origin and the PGU in terms of chest vent designs
You _could_ paint the border around blue, and only the fins inside yellow.
Yeah, would've been cooler if the yellow vents were sunk in.
@@WilliamChoochootrain at this scale, that'll definitely be the way
@@73juro Ver.Ka too
They stopped including pilot figures when they reimagined RG starting with the Sazabi.
