  • Giving a couple tips on how to use drywall texture in the spray cans. You can touch up "Orange Peel" style texture on walls, with an adjustable texture size with this handy product.
Creating an even texture doesn't happen automatically considering our eyes can see any irregularities quite easily, and paint coatings don't always hide these inconsistencies underneathe it.
The available canned "spray texture" has changed through the years. There is still an oil base version and a waterborne version.
Either version can be painted over with acrylic primer or paint.
The oil version has pretty strong fumes, so you should wear a respirator with fresh organic vapor cartridges, and get fresh air ventilation into the area. Avoid breathing it.
The waterborne version is much more tolerable, but caution should still be taken to not expose oneself to the fumes.
These products work for texturing drywall patches up to about 100 square feet if needed. They're invaluable to the average homeowner and house painter to prep and paint Interiors.

In my experience the orange peel version of the texture cans work really well. They do tend to shrink a little bit, and great tip about knocking down the more raised up bits when it dries.
The knockdown texture version works less reliably, and really only for lighter knockdown.
And the popcorn ones are less than worthless. Unless there's a way to make them work that I'm not aware of they almost make it look worse.

I use the knock down version for orange peel, in my opinion it makes a better looking orange peel than the actual orange peel version

what about the priming and painting part?

Sorry I didn't have that record painting in that particular bathroom scenario.
I used 2 coats of paint to roll the bathroom out. I don't believe I primed, though sometimes it's more crucial than others.
