    I'm happy to see Truman Boots get some more love. Honestly, they are probably my favorite boot company.

    • @zachp5291
      @zachp5291 2 года назад +6

      I’ve always wondered why they don’t get covered more as well. I have a two pairs from them (the second pair being from a giveaway), and they are quickly becoming my favorite brand. I own Grant Stone, White’s, Red Wings, etc…. they are all great, but I think Truman really hits that sweet spot of quality/affordability. You can find some models from them for $399, and for that price they’re barely any more than Grant Stone and arguably better crafted. Also they’re Made in the USA which is a nice addition. Love to see them get some notoriety!

      Matt how do you feel about them vs nicks?

    • @NombreHombre
      @NombreHombre 2 года назад +2

      @@andrewpeana I would put them in a comparable category. Obviously, Nick's are purpose built to be world-class work boots, so they're going to be heftier. But Truman's are better looking IMO. They have a distinct style that no one else has. So the Truman's fill more of a casual role than the Nick's, but are comparable in quality and finishing.

    William, great video ! It is good to see the style of your videos is always evolving, never stagnant. The finished product is very professional and easy to watch. By the way, there are many products you could use on these boots to restore the wax down the road. Skidmore's, Otter Wax Boot Wax, and of course, the iconic Sno-Seal, just to a name a few. Bick 4, although it will lightly condition, offers no water resistance. Best regards.

      Venetian Shoe Cream also works, and I believe I read somewhere that Horween actually uses it to finish their waxed flesh and suedes. I've used it on some CF stead waxed suede and it made it look close to new.

    Truman make some beautiful boots. I love the Java Waxed, they look just about perfect.
    So many great boot options over there in the US. I wish we had a shop where I could try on all my favourite American boots here in the UK. We do have a few stores with Red Wing boots, but no Nicks, Whites, Grant Stone or Truman unfortunately.
    I like to try boots on before parting with my money. I don’t like the guessing and hoping.

    I have the Truman Java Waxed since 3 months now and they have still some breaking in to do. Only last week I found out that the leather insole is actually removable. I took it out and intend to put it back in in a couple of months when the footbed has been broken in. The upper is tough as nails, but is starting to stretch already. I find the heel of the 79 last crazy wide, so mostly I have to crank the laces, as I have a slim heel. Overall though I’m rather pleased with the boots and will continue to wear them as they do get better and softer although very slowly.

    I love my Truman boots. I have 2 pairs on the 79 last in 9D (I measure as a 9D on a Brannock), and they fit perfect, if maybe a bit on the big side. Mine are in Oxblood double shot (awesome, thick, supple, teacore-style finished leather) and the other in noble ink rambler (dark blue shrunken suede with TONS of character). I really hope Truman sticks around, i love their 79 last, and it's true that Truman boots have a very distinct and, IMO, attractive silhouette, and they use a metric ton of different leather options and colors that can fit anyone's fancy. This video is one of the reasons i made my first Truman purchase.

    Did your 79 last java wax flesh boots ever stretch to fit you more comfortably? I have a pair of coach ramblers that arrived today and they're tight. I'm an 8D-Left/7.5E-Right on the Brannock, but I also have a high instep on the wider right foot. I wear 41M in Ecco shoes and 8M in Brooks running shoes and both of those fit great. The Truman recommendation was to go with a 7.5D for the 79 last. Unfortunately, Truman doesn't offer an E width, and I fear the EE will be too wide for my D left foot. And I don't care for the boxy look of their 20 last boots. This is my first pair of boots, so I have no idea what to expect in terms of break in. I'm debating whether to return the coach ramblers, exchange them, or keep them in hopes that I can stretch them. Though I've read that hoping for a tight shoe or boot to stretch to fit isn't always the best idea. At the very least, it seems like a risky proposition. In the past, I;ve given up on shoes that were too tight, but I never attempted to have them mechanically stretched either. I was already thinking about ordering a pair of Nick's Americana in brown waxed flesh as my second pair of boots. That would give me two very different but great looks. Perhaps the Nick's should be my first pair. Thoughts?

    Now I will miss out on nicks whits truman , thank God for grant stone , alden and great boot companies that allow you to order and then it's shipped in a couple of days . Boot companies that make you wait 7 weeks to more than a month is crazy , what if something is wrong with the boot , the fit is a little off, you return and wait another month , no way .
    Grant stone is killing especially for the thousands of men that agree about not wanting to wait forever after paying money.

      @mikewatson99 I work hard for my money and when I pay for something I want something that is quality and fit and look good with great price , so I don't care what part of the world my boots will come from . The Grant Stones are a quality boot. I just do my best not to buy anything from China if I have an alternative.

    • @Angel-AbC9
      @Angel-AbC9 Год назад

      @warden291 the thing is its from China but not from China, so there's a difference between something that is made 100pct from China and not. Grant stone material is not from China so nothing cheap like China goods are , all material is from USA, China only put the parts together , smart business move to keep 500.00 boot quality and sale it 380.00 , if built in usa then it would be about 450 , so kudos to Grant stone company there sales are good because real boot people love quality mo matter where it comes from.

    • @warden291
      @warden291 Год назад

      Very good point. I’ve read a lot about their company and I know they use quality components. Don’t get me wrong I love the look of several of their boots but it still irks me to buy anything that supports China and their economy. They are this country’s biggest threat and most of the idiots in the old USA don’t even realize it or for that matter care.

    Red Wing IR $350 uses a leather insole over a cork filled midsole. Truman $480 uses a leather over a synthetic cushy filled midsole (appealing to the gym shoe guys). That's $130 more for less quality. Not an IR killer.
