Printing layers in the way you did so youre not constantly purging different colors and making it more 3dish was actually an amazing idea! Love the video.
Thanks! and thank you for watching. I started layering that way mainly because I use cardboard spools in the AMS and want to have minimal color changes so that hopefully they don't break down and ruin it.

When creating a vector, draw a bounding box, (usually square), and duplicate it on every layer around the artwork. That way your layers will always align whatever software you are in. Just delete them when you are ready to print.

Great work! This seems like a great use case for HueForge, it will create an stl and you can just select in bambulab filament layer changes instead of having to create 4 separate stls aligning them manually.
Great use of AI tools. Thanks for the video. Maybe next year you can figure out how to use AI to help you create and print some three-dimensional skulls and pumpkins. That would be a great follow up to this video.

Just an alternative, but you can import full size into tinkercad, export your STL, then scale the entire print inside of your slicer. You can also export a simple black and white model into tinkercad and model it in one color, and do the actual painting (easy with 1 click fill) inside of bambu studio. Great job!

Thats a very nice idea, love it! But got a suggestion… change the hight for every single color, you will save some material and the imagem will no look so flat at the face.
That bat turned out cute. Very nice video. This is one of the ways I refer to using AI as a tool in part of the process. You didn't just prompt it to get an image and post that image elsewhere. I see no difference in what you did and how others will use any other image search and "auto trace." I mean this in a good way, people defend one vs the other simply because of the AI boogeyman. I don't know if you watch Uncle Jessy, but he had a video on using an AI generator for non-flat model generation, but it costs. I think it is made by Nikko and using their database to generate the print.
Thank you, and Yes! I saw that! It was cool but I’m not willing to pay that much for the “chance” it’ll generate something I can actually print. Hoping it’ll get a little cheaper/more accurate and then I’ll give it a try!
Amazing. Excellent tutorial using AI from concept to print. Waiting on delivery of my Bambu Carbon with AMS. Thank you, I will be experimenting with this.

so cool! those turned out amazing. endless possibilities there. just wondering for selling these on etsy if the time taken to print just one would even be worth it? seems like you could only make 1-2 a day depending on design and not sure that would be worth charging a lot for for plastic
I think so. I list the thin, hanging ones for $15-20 and the thicker ones that can sit up on their own for $25-30 depending on the design. Pretty much everything I sell takes 4-6 hours to print so those aren’t much different there. People are paying for the art, not necessarily just the plastic.

Yet it ignored that entirely and gave you color images. If you had asked for black and white with no gradients, would it have given you the desired line drawing?
I did the “no” part wrong. I should’ve added -no to the end of the prompt and then said gradients or highlights. It’s hard to say what it would’ve given for black and white, you probably would have to say specifically to do a line drawing with black outlines on a white background.

I don't use bambu filament. I use overture, sunlu and esun mostly. The cardboard spools can be a pain and the sunlu rolls don't retract in the AMS super well once they get under 100g on the roll but they're cheaper than bambu filament so I just deal with it.

Love the video Macy and so glad I found it! Exactly like something I have been wanting to do and you made it very simple to understand! Question on using tinkercad, is there a preference over tinkercad than something like Fusion 360. I have been bring people's logos into fusion 360 after turning into svg's and then extruding each layer for a different color. By the way I really love the tabs you added to hand the decorations, such a smart idea!! Great job and I would love to see your process on multi color logos in this same fashion!
I’ve been wanting to print my logo in a multicolor stacked way so I’ll try to make a video for it when I do! As for tinkercad, I just find it quick and easy. I started out using freeCad and fusion360 but just found myself having a faster workflow in tinkercad for the simple SVG to STL conversions. If I was doing any real 3d modeling I’d probably want to use a better cad software to be more accurate.
+1 for nicholas idea on fusion 360 svgs, I want to see you make a tutorial about it @@macymakes3d ! you are such a good and inspiring content creator! =) keep them, videos coming!
Not so borring ... only for the machines ( 2 X1 & 2 P1 ? ) .. I want the same even without any decorations :) But for midjourney , it's the not free usage .. right ?
I still prefer this method over hue forge. I feel like I have more control. I’ll only use hue forge if it’s a really detailed design that I can’t separate easily
Haha, I'm a programmer by trade, and yet still on a daily have an issue when hearing or reading backslash or forwardslash, knowing which is which. Lol. The struggle is real
Why are you going through all these additional steps? First off you could have just generated the images right inside ChatGPT with Dalle3 which actually has better vector style output than Midjourney. And since you did use Midjourney, why didn’t you just convert to svg right inside Midjourney with Tracejourney?

AI had a small role to play but it was an amazing process just the same.
Very nice! Boo
Not so borring ... only for the machines ( 2 X1 & 2 P1 ? ) .. I want the same even without any decorations :)
But for midjourney , it's the not free usage .. right ?
Cardboard spools in the AMS...... 😮😮😮
I know. Living dangerously
Has hue forge replaced this process for you, or do you still use both?
I still prefer this method over hue forge. I feel like I have more control. I’ll only use hue forge if it’s a really detailed design that I can’t separate easily
@@macymakes3d Thanks for the reply, keep up the great content.
Haha, I'm a programmer by trade, and yet still on a daily have an issue when hearing or reading backslash or forwardslash, knowing which is which. Lol. The struggle is real
Interesting :-)
I'm a few days late but this was an AMAZING tutorial. Thank you
Tumb down for the AI BS .
Congrats on your own work very nice to see your working method .
That Bamboo printer sure is the next level .
Try hue forge.
Hueforge video already in the works
Can you tell me why you sound so bored? It´s an amazing job you do for us let it please sound it like too
My proposal an 3dprint project: decorations with moveable parts so that s can change its appearance - e.g. Happy face vs Sad face
That's a cool idea! I'll see what I can come up with
Why are you going through all these additional steps? First off you could have just generated the images right inside ChatGPT with Dalle3 which actually has better vector style output than Midjourney.
And since you did use Midjourney, why didn’t you just convert to svg right inside Midjourney with Tracejourney?
random, but what's the footswitch software used for
Lol I play a bit of warzone and I use it to “push to talk”
Do you sell these designs? I looove the skull and i waaaant it.
