It’s amazing watching you go directly to the controller, looking at the codes, and then right to the problem. I don’t think anyone could’ve done it faster.
Anytime I did grocery store cases, immediately 6 old ladies would want tater tots or whatever, out of whatever case I was working on. You do have exceptional patience.
Thank you for another video! It was a great video. I could never remember or get myself to wanna get out the camera on crazy calls like that not to mention on the weekend. It sure is awesome to watch though.
I did take it apart and there was nothing in it so I don't know what the heck was going on, but it worked with the new valve. You'll see that on the next video.
Love the videos, I've learned quite a bit about refrigeration from you. Weekend call sucks but it sure is nice on payday. I'm curious about that Veto bag you're using. Any chance of a video on the bag and your loadout?
Amazing effort on a Sunday, most guys would've said F it and pass the hot potatoe to the next guy . And btw , why are you using channel locks on a rotalock valve ??! 😆😆😂😂
This was a special arrangement because they own a refrigerant company that takes care of their other stores outside of the area. Normally, we provide refrigerant.
I want my tots, Now! Get out of the way, I want my tots!!!!!! Or, it's the manager screaming about losing product because their budget build is a pile of shit and spends more time down than running. Pay me now or pay me later, the only difference is how much. Good job man, keep running and duck when you can!
@ Yeah we have 2 guys on call with a primary and secondary. Usually journeyman is the primary and apprentices are secondary. Got to love getting called on the weekend but the problem started on Wednesday.
Good job Rick, You have proven your troubleshooting skills, time and time again...........I would like to say you deserve a raise, but I'm not your employer, and jobs are becoming harder and harder to replace an individuals with skills, and jobs are harder too keep........
Do you get stopped by worried shoppers at time when you search for leak with that beeping sniffer? Like they are worried that it is dangerous or something?
I had a customer of a larger grocery store chain, who said he has done refrigeration for 25 years, tell me that roto locks don’t leak. I told him, I guess you have never work on protocols then.
@@HVACRSurvival Ehh, seems to be more and more common, it's frustrating when you totally know alot of the failures were preventable and would have been caught early. What they gonna end up paying in downtime and refrigerant cost I bet is higher than maintenance would be.
Hey, don't discourage the people that have the drive to work on these. I tried residential but couldn't handle the on call. We need more people in the trades on stuff like this. Then there probably won't be the long on call shifts.
mumbles something about thread locker should be used on all that vibratory crap. once backed off loose, it will eat the sealing rings up, but may anyway!
I agree, we used one of those build of valves from Sporlan with a right angle screen, so that'll catch the crap before it goes into the pins. It'll also be able to be taken apart and cleaned if something gets in there.
filter driers before any TXV should be mandatory... unless it's brand new install, with clean tubing and nitrogen purge/flow. maybe it's time for change over the whole industry.
@ problem is even when the guys use nitrogen they sometimes run out of it and don't even realize they did and then you got a bunch of pipes that are all carbon up.

Oh I know exactly what you're talking about.😂
open door, 30 people flood the aisle and swarm you.
This commercial stuff is always super interesting to watch, hope you got to enjoy your holidays a little anyway :)
Nor-Cal V. Rick leak detector war.😂
Another good ole Sunday matinee ... Nice job Rick ... I surely do enjoy these ... Thx
Love the supermarket stuff...thats what we do hunt for leaks all the time.
Rick, All your videos are amazing !
Appreciate it 🙏
Thanks so much for another excellent video!
In supermarket, you're not looking A leak, you're looking for THE leak
Was on call last week had a busy saturday till sunday 2am an luckily sunday nothin came in 😶 amyways good video keep it up 💪

Being on call was the worst time in my service career.
Back then it was a pager I had to carry, that noise still makes my stomach drop.
I appreciate you. Im learning alot from you. Imma be a good service tech like you eventually.
I appreciate the kind words, you can be whatever you want as long as you work towards it. Don't let nobody hold you back.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Great troubleshooting Rick. Thanks for sharing
Appreciate it! 🙏
Great video!
The danfoss peanut valves do have a screen in them if you take bottom nut off there’s a screen

Channel Locks🖕🖕🖕🤣🤣🤣
The "later" 40 seconds after I thought the video was over spooked me 😅
Those Mrs. T's Pierogies are delicious! Classic onion is my recommendation.
🤣👍👍
makes me want grandma's home made pierogies....
Nice Work Rick!
Thanks!
Where you get that blue marker?
I believe I have a link to amazon in the description. Same price for you but I get a commission from amazon.

Excellent. Exemplary working above and beyond instead of leaving early. Then go home and post this to mentor the rest of us.
Refrigeration is tough work. Nice job Rick!
It’s tough sometimes, but I enjoy it. 💪
@ me too 11 years just refrigeration.
Wild, in Canada we supply all refrigerant.
This was a special arrangement because they own a refrigerant company that takes care of their other stores outside of the area. Normally, we provide refrigerant.
Youre the man !
Good video.
Thank You was a piece of
Keep up the good work

What’s your on call schedule ? Cause where I work at it’s Wednesday-Wednesday
Every 4-5 weeks for 7 days

Just got one everything's good.
thou shalt not whine, but if you do, many of us will still watch. 🤪
Pretty scary that people are just isolating down to earth compressors without even tagging and locking them out.
I don’t work weekends or after hours unless it’s my install.
Maybe someday 😔
Do you get stopped by worried shoppers at time when you search for leak with that beeping sniffer? Like they are worried that it is dangerous or something?
No, people act like I'm in their way.
Upgrade that txv to a regular sporlan sbque
That's what you might see in the next video
Up, just for the title, before even watching ;)

Some of those compressors seem badly balanced, it just shakes stuff apart
This place does not believe in any kind of maintenance. They only call when it breaks.
@@HVACRSurvival Ehh, seems to be more and more common, it's frustrating when you totally know alot of the failures were preventable and would have been caught early. What they gonna end up paying in downtime and refrigerant cost I bet is higher than maintenance would be.
lol man! Are you ever not on call?
требуется теперь проверить масло на кислоту?
You should. Yes
Why would you want to do low temp
🤷♂️ it’s just refrigeration to me. Each segment of the field has its good n bads sides

Surprisingly, I don't think they've ever recommended that. However, I don't see why it would be a bad thing.
Sounds like you walked into a shit show of band aids. I feel your pain.
Every day, I'm shuffling
Feels like its been a year since we got to harass you. hope your 2025 is awesome
thanks Northstar!

Dan vos txv goes in the garbage. We never replace with OEM. Sporland

Those dumb little danfoss screens get plugged up on those garbage txvs 😑
