I have an elderly friend who worked as a background dancer on 6 Elvis movies. He worked on Roustabout, the Elvis/Barbara Stanwyck movie. He said that Barbara Stanwyck was SO KIND to all of the extras, grips, and construction people on set. Most stars of her caliber would never pay any attention to them, but Barbara was so down to earth, she preferred their company to that of the other stars. He never forgot her kindness. He said she was also very professional, always on time for work, knowing her lines, and willing to help others who were having trouble with their scenes. And she was never in a hurry to leave the set at night. A remarkable person, and one of my favorite actresses. Thank you for this video!
Thank you for your comment. I’m not surprised by your description of her personality and work ethics. I have watched many of her movies, tv series and mini series more than once and her energy, passion and enthusiasm shines through each time. I think her best performance was her last scene in the Thorn Birds with Richard Chamberlain at the top of the stairs as she tells him goodbye. She won an Emmy for that performance. It was magnificent.
Yay, bravo Jerry, this is great! I love Miss Stanwick, especially her movies made in the thirties, and grew up watching The Big Valley on TV. Thanks so much, you include the most interesting information and narrate so beautifully. Well done dear sir! 🌹
Me too, never missed Big Valley, and the Thorn Birds was just ammmazing!!, loved everything she did!! What a lady and a class act...humble to the very end.🙋♀️🙆♀️🙅♀️😘😉
One of my very favorite actresses. You say she was NOT able to have kids due to a botched abortion, when all I've ever heard is that she chose her career over kids.
Thank you Robin, there was no way she could tell the real reason she had no kids. So she went along with the story that she was so busy with her career there was no time for children. Thank you again Robin. Jerry

barbara stanwyck is someone i'd refuse to believe much bad about. great tribute to someone who was pretty enough to be a star and magnificent enough to be remembered nearly 1/3 of a century after her passing. thanks, jerry.
She specified in her will that her riding outfit from Annie Oakley be given to the Cowgirl Hall of Fame at that time located in Hereford, TX. I happened to be there visiting with the curator who was a friend when the parcel arrived & helped her unpack the costume. This shows Barbara's generosity because at that time the Hall of Fame was very small. It has since moved to Ft. Worth & is a very large operation.
This was beautifully done, sir, thank you for all of the love and hard work you put into telling these folks life stories! I had absolutely no idea of who Barbara Stanwyck was as a person. I’m sorry I never knew this, she was a wonderful woman. Thank you Mr. Skinner for yet another excellent documentary.
Barbara Stanwyck what a fine actress. I was not aware what a difficult childhood she had, sad her mama died so tragically. I knew Robert Taylor was the love of her life and boy was he handsome. I watched every episode of The Big Valley, so Jerry I appreciated you mentioned the characters and a bit of their background, it made the video that much more interesting. Who ever remembers The Thorn Birds, magnificent mini series (by the way might want to do Richard Chamberlain bio). Barbara was one of a kind excellent actress. So happy she finally got a Golden Globe award in 84. Thank you for a wonderful video Jerry Skinner I love it. Elizabeth C.
Growing up, I never missed a Big Valley episode. She has always been one of the best actors. Sad to see all the tragedy of her young life, but it looks like thats one of the reasons she was so smart and resilient. RIP, Barbara-and Lone Pine is a beautiful place, about 50 miles from where I live.
Me to, although back in the day the show would start at about2:00pm in the afternoon, I would rush home from school just to see the episodes of the big valley. The Joaquin Murrieta episode was my personal favorite😆.
Thank you for such a great presentation. She was one of my favorite actresses. Her strength her way of taking no crap. I loved her in Big Valley. Such a strong woman. You didn't mention she had serious back injuries from that horse dragging scene. Suffering for the rest of her life because of it that's why she had to limit a lot of her movie making as she got older she could barely walk sometimes. But she didn't let us see it did she? That was the prevailing training at one of the best pain centers that didn't use addictive pain meds of her time. I know because I went there & the process taught you how to live with your pain without letting others see that you have it, thus making you less of a possible victim. Unfortunately I was in one of the last groups that went through in 2000, it was dismantled right after. However it bought me 20 years of walking upright instead of a wheelchair that had been predicted for me. I'll always be grateful that someone like her with her star power showed the program was useful & could make a difference in seriously injured person's life.
Jerry you could literally read us the old yellow pages and it would have the same nostalgic charm of these great documentaries. You are a treasure. Thank you for what you do Mr. Skinner!

He didn’t know who she was until after they stop playing and one of his friends asked her if she was Barbara Stanwick. And she told them she was. He said she was nice and signed some autographs for them
This was an excellent glimpse into Miss Stanwyck's life. I'm glad I watched it because I learned so many things about her as a human being, not just an actress. Thank you Jerry for all the work you put in to making this wonderful video.
My father's favorite actress was Barbara Stanwyck and my middle name was after her. This commentary showed a lot I wasn't familiar with. She certainly had a hard life in the beginning but what I admire about her after seeing this documentary is her love of horses and if she show her ashes to be scattered, she chose Lone Pine which Hopalong Cassidy movies were made. RIP.

I am a great lover of the films of Barbara Stanwyck and I am also fortunate to have been able to study film during my college experience and so I wanted to make sure that you received at least one comment praising your work to the highest standard.
I do not know why she abandoned her son. I think, but I could be wrong, Barbara told her son never to give an interview about them. I think the son did give an interview, when at boarding school, and that was the end of the mother son relationship. Children mess up all the time, but our parents continue to love us.

She won an Emmy for the Best Actress in the Thorn Birds. I believe Oscars are only given for movies and Emmys are for TV series and Mini Series. She certainly was the best in the Thorn Birds even though she was only in Part One.
The first time I ever saw Barbara opposite Gary Cooper in Frank Capra’s Meet John Doe along with Walter Brennan the true heart of this very precious woman was irrevocably fully on display for any and all to see, and experience. Recalling her portrayal to this very day brings deep emotions up from my heart - tears of both great joy, mixed with tears of great appreciation for the truly compassionate individual Barbara so uniquely imbued from her own uniquely warm, and loving, selfless character into that portrayal. To me that is, and will always forever be the absolute greatest, most powerful, inspiring, and uplifting performance of her entire career because in it is revealed so very much of who she really was.

I am a big fan of her movies and especially television series, The Big Valley with All star cast : Lee Major,Linda Evans, Peter Breck, Richard Long, and Napoleon Whiting(Silas). Fantastic, Jerry. I love these detailed stories. I thought I didn't care much for her as a person and now I am reminded that we cannot know what people have been through, how they may have suffered and yet rose to great success through determination to better themselves in spite of their trials and pains. Fascinating woman. As a young child I always wanted to "be" Annie Oakley - never knew she had played her. I'm so glad that you have shared her story with the world. Thank You.
Thank you my friend. Mona, i was like you, Barbara always seem sort of cold to me. After looking into her life, is was surprised about her kindness to so many people.

Thanks Jerry, as this is a brilliant documentary about a very talented and obviously hard working star that acted as someone from humble beginnings or a character that was of high stature, she could always hit it off. As always you have worked very hard to gather together all the facts and footage then voiced this video better than anyone else could do. Take care my friend and all the best. Stevie

This was a wonderful documentary of a great actress. She was a strong woman who had class. I went on holiday to Las Vegas in my early twenties and spent one day in sin city and hated it, I spent the remaining two weeks riding horses in Red Rock Canyon and loved it, the mountains and the cowboys were amazing. During that wonderful time this English girl noticed pictures of Ms Stanwick in alot of the bars and now I'm overjoyed to know her story.
Jerry, this was FABULOUS!!! I'm so glad you devoted extra time to this wonderful woman. Her birthday was two days before mine, and she died in the hospital in which I was born. Oh, the memories in seeing the pictures of the areas I was raised and lived... wonderful! We had a modest ranch in Tarzana. My last two years of high school were in Beverly Hills when I went to live with my father. My high school sweetheart lived the block down from Barbara's first house on Arden. You definitely "did her justice," Jerry, as you always do in your documentaries... excellent!!! ~Dany

Sincerely yours,
JB Henderson MD
Although I grew up with Barbara Stanwyck on The Big Valley, my favorite of her film performances was in The Thorn Birds Another great JS Documentary.
She. Was amazing in the Thornbirds.
Oh... the thorn birds..my go..to movie and Stella Dallas. She was so kind to William Holden while making Golden boy
I have 1978 Oscars and they were so touching. He credited her for helping him. Later he died and she got an award looked towards heaven and said..this is for you Golden boy. What a beautiful soul she had.rip missy.
The Lady Eve is hilarious. And she was really smoking hot.
Barbara Stanwyck is one of my favorite actresses. I have watched every movie she ever made. I an so sad that so many people died so young!
She was not my favorite actress and to me seemed insincere and cold. What a life she had a lot tragedies and despite all of that she really became a top notch actress knowing this I have found new respect for her. Thank you for this video it's amazing.
Fabulous documentary Jerry. What a life she lived. I watched all her shows. Thank you so much.

A universal star in the forties of the last century💞🇺🇲
To be good to others is far more important then beening a star
Fantastic, Jerry. I love these detailed stories. I thought I didn't care much for her as a person and now I am reminded that we cannot know what people have been through, how they may have suffered and yet rose to great success through determination to better themselves in spite of their trials and pains. Fascinating woman. As a young child I always wanted to "be" Annie Oakley - never knew she had played her. I'm so glad that you have shared her story with the world. Thank You.
Thank you my friend. Mona, i was like you, Barbara always seem sort of cold to me. After looking into her life, is
was surprised about her kindness to so many people.
Well said and I wish more people learned the lesson you did. You can't judge a book by it's cover, there are many pages.
What I love about this video are the other informations of other legendary artists who got involved with Barbara
Nice! Now we have sound, thank you Jerry!🇺🇸
Awesome Jerry, Awesome. One of your best. What a gal she was, and you were right, there was so much I really didn’t know about Barbara.
Thank you Sir for this documentary, please keep em coming.
Augie and Jill Blase, Winter Springs. Florida.🤠
I mostly saw her later tv stuff. But what is really crazy it her address you mentioned, 8076, WOW!! Guess what my family home address is....8076. Of course another city and state. I don't know what possessed me to watched this, but I am glad I did. RI H Barbara.
Hi how are you doing?
Mr. Skinner, This is a wonderful remembrance to such a beautiful & remarkable Woman. I briefly lived right up the street from her, tho I never met her. I always admired her as an actress. You have such a way with words and are an excellent storyteller. Thank you. 🥰
Thank you Libby. Jerry
I fell in love with her when I first saw her (in movies of course)! She had this zest/bad girl nature that made me go bonkers (lol). She was a beautiful/sexy woman!!
Thank you so much...wonderful, respectful and heartfelt presentation of a remarkable beautiful human being that has been a major impact on my life...What an incredible calibration of Barbara's excellence of character, skill and lifes work...so grateful to be reminded...Kindest regards...
I loved her in the big valley what a great actress she was and very beautiful this was a good bio Jerry thank you for the time you take to do these .
Stevie
Thank you my friend. Jerry
She got better looking as she got older.' Christmas in Connecticut' is my favourite Christmas film. She had good comic timing.
Gettin' fancy schmany, old friend Jerry. This was wonderful! She was and still is one of the greatest actresse of our time. I adored her performances. From making me laugh to making me weep! 👍🎃🌻🙂🎬📽📺
Thank's my good friend. Jerry
Many thanks for your information bio on Missy and the cast of the big valley. There was so much I didn't know about her family, husband and her son. Bless you 😊
My grandmother used to watch her TV show that she called "The Big Belly".
Great Lady, love all her pictures and shows❤️
Another great one Jerry. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this wonderful documentary! 👏🏻You obviously did a lot of research and put a lot of work into this, and I enjoyed all of the information provided. I appreciate that you highlighted what a gracious and kind woman she was, a tough survivor but always with a lot of heart. She is one of my top three favorite stars, up there with Joan Crawford and Betty Davis. Charisma on tap! 🌠
Yeah...but it's about Barbra Stanwyck! She's good to watch, whatever the ailment!
Hey Jerry. Another of the one-in-a-million ladies we had the privilege to see. Thanks.
Thank you for this thoughtful bio on Barbara. I like the short bio clips on her co-stars in The Big Valley as well.
This was a wonderful documentary of a great actress. She was a strong woman who had class. I think she kept things close to her heart in that she treasured her family and friends which probably may have made her look somewhat cold to others. I am new to this channel but will definitely be looking forward to more videos.
Jerry
She would be so honored by this very
Loving & beautiful
Tribute..
Thank You for this.
My 2 favorite movies
Of her's were

The Titanic one, &
"A Christmas in
Connecticut "
With Dennis Morgan.
To All the stars in Heaven we miss you.
Lots I didn’t know about her, thanks to this excellent bio. I really enjoyed this video.
I loved her on Big Valley and Thornbirds
didn't know Barbara until 'Big Valley' amazed at her earlier career roles!
She grew beautiful as she aged...beautiful in Big Valley!!!!
~Dany
Thank you Dany. Jerry
