    Lyrics
    Well it’s just another day
Rise with the sun, don't be late
I rub the sleep out off my face
Not like I get much anyway
    Years of smoking cigarettes
    Can’t be undone by vitamins
Down ‘em with coffee and regret
‘Fore I gotta head out again
    Take the Florida Turnpike
    Then gotta head for Montmagny
    It’s nothing much a trucker’s life
But you do see the country
    And it makes you realize
    Behind the stunning countryside
    There’s so much inequality
You see the saddest sort of eyes
    Asking myself all the time
What’s the reason where’s the rhyme
    Living in hypocrisy
    And still believe in life
    [Refrain]
And at night when I come home
    After driving all alone
I feel I maybe should have known
    America just bursts with pride
    But in my rearview cries
Is this the fruit of our success
    The evidence our excess
I haul along these lonely roads
    Seran-wrapped frozen overflow
    The rotten fruit of privilege
In the back of every fridge
    Still we’re never satisfied
Even while our own future dies
    Asking myself all the time
What’s the reason, where’s the rhyme
And what will our children do?
    When nothin’s left but ruin
    [Ref]
    Well Interstate 95
    Snuffed out yet another life
    Impatient cars just crawling by
    A requires in flashing lights
Honking their way through the mess
    The rubberneckers strain to see
    But when did fatal accidents
    Become reality TV
    Asking myself all the time
What’s the reason where’s the rhyme
No respect far’s you can see
    The world has gone crazy
    [Ref]
Another truck stop on the route
A meal that maybe once was food
Well, if you’re gen’rous, call it soup
Just close your eyes and chew well
The franchise killed Mom and Pop
Made with love in some sweatshop
Can’t even turn on the TV
    Without another mass shooting
    Asking myself all the time
What’s the reason where’s the rhyme
Are we just ‘long for the ride
    This lonely loveless life
    [Ref]
Well, it gets to me sometimes
'Specially in my rig at night
What the hell I’m doing here
    This godforsaken frontier
All the milestones that I missed
With Mimi and my baby girls
    Can’t shake this fucked-up feeling
That I’m just a stranger in their world
    Asking myself all the time
What’s the reason, where’s the rhyme
    Always bein’ far from home
    Another workin’ drone
And at night I drive alone
I’m always so far from home
I think of Mimi’s loving eyes
And my heart just bursts with pride
    But on the inside, dies
    Paroles
    Y'a tellement d'inégalités
Et de souffrance sur les visages
La question qu'j'me pose tout l'temps:
Mais comment font tous ces gens
Pour croire encore en la vie
    Dans cette hypocrisie?
    [Ref]
    Y'a pu' tellement d'amour (yeah!)
On a tué la chaleur humaine
Avec le service à la chaîne
À la télé un aut' malade
    Vient d'déclencher une fusillade
La question qu'j'me pose tout l'temps:
Mais comment font ces pauvres gens
    Pour traverser tout le cours
    D'une vie sans amour?
    [Refrain]
    Pourquoi travailler autant
    Éloigner de ceux que j'aime
Tout ça pour jouer la game
    [Ref]

Hello beautiful people, salut tout le monde
For first-timers, welcome. For those who are returning, welcome back. I hadn't known that Karl Tremblay was struggling with cancer. We lost a good one this week. This was one of my first English adaptations on this channel, and I didn't know much about recording or mixing three years ago. It's a sad day, and I hope you can enjoy the effort behind this while being kind to a younger me and the attempt I made.

I'm french canadian, Quebec gang represent.
But holy crap... What you did with this song... I don't know if it's the slower, acoustic pace that makes it feel so much more genuine or just the perfect adaptation, twist of words, figures of speech that you used etc. etc. but... I was straight up crying at the end of that song. The original could get me a tiny bit choked up when I'm already exhausted.
You did a perfect job. From A to Z. 100%, 10/10, A+, would gladly cry again.

@@Jaclyn_LizziQuebec froze in shock and the prime minister offered national funerals to the family. This group really made its mark here. They looped songs all day at radio and the next day all radio stations played the same song at the same time as a tribute.
As a native quebecer I wanted to find English variants to show my English speaking girlfriend and stumbled on your adaptation. Very well done.
Would be nice if you could adapt one of those: Les étoiles filantes, Toune d'automne, Mon chum Rémi, Plus rien, Sur mon épaule, to name just a few. You capture the emotion very well.

Incroyablement touchant Jaclyn!

Wow it's so rare that an english singer pays a tribute to a french one! He was one of the best overall but in term of a person and the messages that he was giving he was the very best. Hearing this today, a a little more than a week after the lead singer of the original died, put a bit of balm on my fresh wound. This group is my favorite one with so many awesome lyrics and melodies, you are such an amazing person to have made that version. Thank you very much, im glad i stumbled on your version this morning!
