She's, and always will be, my all time favourite !
The only tornament She didn't, in order to 1988 be absolutely perfection, was the year end finals!
But I'm sure by then She was drained, not just phisically but above all mentally👏👏👏

@@MoneyMatter-y2b even without the stabbing Graf won the GOLDEN CALENDAR SLAM before the era of Seles. Something NO ONE, male or female, has done ever since in 33 years of trying. No Federer, no Serena. Plus she was already 186 consecutive weeks at No. 1 before Seles came - even Chris and Martina did not achieve that. So Graf was already a legend before Seles got stabbed, even if she had stayed at 11 GS titles. Otherwise, Bille Jean King or Evonne Goolagog would not count as legends either.
I am a fan of both, Stefanie and Monica. We will never know what would have happened. I just believe that the other players would have learned to adopt to Seles' game over time, just like the other players learned to adopt Graf's game( took most of them about 5 years). Or Serena's game. Or Federer's game. Or any dominant player's game. To believe that someone will win and win and win and never lose at slams is building castles out of clouds.

And as for the following year, she won Roland Garros and reached the Wimbledon final which was an incredible achievement given her age and the competition. For me she’s the GOAT. And she retired because she’d achieved everything she’d set out to achieve, not just because of a relationship.

I don't no for sure, But I think this was the fastest GS finals win. Also I personally believe it was the fastest ever match played at RG cause on clay any point is 1,5 time longer than on hard court, and twice longer than grass. If somebody knows the exact stats about the shortest final of any GS?+shortest not even final, but match at RG ever(without taking consideration of injury stopped matches). And overall of any clay WTA tour finals, is this the shortest one? Cause I do believe that on hard and grass such fast finals probably were for sure in WTA circuit in modern era. But clay...hmm.... 🤔 It might be one of the shortest for sure.

Graf has the golden grand slam and most weeks at number one, but that’s about it. She has a shocking amount of losing head-to-head records at 13. She has a winning record against 3 of the all-time top 10 players. Evert holds the record with winning H2Hs against 4 of the all-time top ten. Graf does not have the most titles at the Austrian, French, Wimbledon, or the US Open. Those records belong to Williams, Evert, and Navratilova. She does not have the most GS titles on the various surfaces.. hardcourts, clay, or grass. Those records again belong to Williams, Evert, and Navratilova. She’s not the best at any grand slam or on any surface. She doesn’t have the highest winning percentage all time or at the grand slams. Those records belong to Court. So how again is she the GOAT? You own your professional record from the time you hit the first ball, to when you hit the last. Without Parche she has 12-15 GS titles. That's it. Even with Parche she only holds a handful of records. Its shocking how few she actually has.

@@jm7804 Lol... im pretty sure you are either from the US or of african background... those are basically the only people in the world who think that a one dimensional roided screamer ball basher like PED-Rena is greater than Steffi.

Steffi always seemed to be in a hurry… I wonder if she felt sorry for Natalia or if she would have shown more mercy ten years later.
I'm just glad Zvereva managed to cope with this defeat. Even the greatest players have terrible defeats to cope and it's a hallmark of a great sportsman that they can manage that and find new self-confidence.

Apparently years later she couldn't remember that she'd won 6-0, 6-0. Suspect she was slightly embarrassed by it.
