(Not an excuse at all, but I am disabled and in a lot of pain. A most delightful and pleasing rendition of the great Karen Carpenter. The brother-sister duo that captured America's and the world's heart during the 1970's...and then we lost Karen all to soon. But thanks to Ms. Lee we have the pleasure of hearing those beautiful songs preformed live again. If she is ever in my "neck of the woods" I'm putting my money down to hear her!

Very beautiful woman and real good singer ... many compliments to Mrs Toni Lee. It is widely known all over the world that Karen's voice is irreplaceable and unapproachable because her voice has been simpy "not human", but this girl made a really good work with a nice rendition. Kisses.

I listen to Karen Carpenter all my life and I can hear the difference she's similar to her but she's not Karen Carpenter Karen Carpenter has a very distinctive unique voice and I can hear it and I know it she is similar to Karen but not Karen but she has a beautiful voice

@@tonileesings-123 No offense intended, you do a fantastic job and sing the songs beautifully. Just like the best Elvis impersonators, or the Fab Four, or what have you, the idea is to get as close to the original as possible so that those who were never able to experience the real deal can at least get a sense of what it was like. And you are successful at doing that.

@@janjones690 ahh thats good to hear!!!! I was over in LA last April, in Thousand Oaks, Downey etc... met 100's Carpenters fans from all over the world, was amazing. Also met people that worked with them and some of the musicians that are on their recordings, and the producer Al Schmidt, who produced RC's last album release. So many there were saying tho that they do no hear them enough on radio, etc.... and so appreciate Tributes helping to keep their legacy alive, for more generations too. I performed my show to them of my recent PBS TV filming, it was such an honour. Miss her so much, she had the best voice ever, and love their music, its timeless , Best wishes to Michigan xx

I worked with the Carpenters in 1978 and to be fair I don't think Toni Lee is trying to be Karen. She's hoping to bring today's audience a feeling of the old days and to honor the Karen Carpenter legend. I think it is much more difficult to "impersonate" Karen than Elvis. I wouldn't use the term "watered down". She's trying to open a window into the past and give some comfort to those who still to this day feel the loss of such an amazing talent. And it is also not fair to criticize someone for doing covers of these songs. Many of the Carpenter's hits were themselves covers. I think she does a nice job of trying to convey the essence of the experience of hearing those songs done live and a remembrance of the unique style that made us all so enamored by Karen's voice and personality. It's a beautiful way to remember.

Thank you so much. Although many Asian singer love & sing these songs beautufully its very hard not notice the Asian accents that stand out. Karen didnt have an Asian accent. It kinda sways it for me. But to be fair tones are there. Beautiful voice but she cant hide her Asian accent.

Not the same, she may sound like her. But the emotional part Karen had is missing. Karen was a one of a kind. It's like all those Elvis impersonators. They sound like him but they are not Elvis. This girl is not Karen,she can sing close to her but the emotional power that Karen had is missing badly here.
I feel so emotional when I sing The Carpenters, means a lot to me, maybe look up my recent works, showreel etc.. often get told the complete opposite to your comments, this video is rather old

I think she is emotional but the problem here is her tone is not as deep or velvety as Karen's. Often singers are missing some part of the equation. She is a good singer by itself but as far as emulating Karen...if you're going to do it, it has to be spot on, which is a hard thing to do...thats why Karen is regarded so highly, her voice was extremely hard to come by. Even with constant practice, its not a sound that can be easily duplicated bc she wasmt copying someone, God gave her that tone and she just perfected it with practice.
I would have walked out after the 1st note out of Toni's mouth .
