There’s a couple clips where you can hear my ceiling fan blowing on my mic 😵💫 I’ll make sure to turn it off next time 🫶🏻
The intro is so good I feel like I'm watching a Netflix show hahahaha
I’ll take that as a compliment 😂
I love this series. Don’t feel bad about DNFing a book. No one wants to read bad books it’s about the fun of choosing random books to read
It is so valid to say a book isn't for you because it is triggering. Hope you got to take care of you after that read. Can't wait for the next episode!
The thing about “dark” romances is that they are romantic in the sense that they’re completely unrealistic (think old school definition of romance), not romantic in that they are a love story. I genuinely worry about some of the women who read these dark romances because they’re young, and can get a false idea that the relationships in those books are healthy and desirable. 😬 Ladies, if a man will do abusive things to others, he will do abusive things to you. You aren’t special. You aren’t exempt. He does NOT have a soft side that only you can bring out. When he shows you who he is by how he treats others please believe him and RUN AWAY!
Hopefully this wasn’t too intense of a comment. I’m just passionate about the subject because I have people I care about who are stuck in abusive marriages.
I'm assuming you mean Gen Z, when you say younger women, and I think we have to remember that Gen Z is more aware socially and politically than any generation that's come before them. Reading is escapism at the end of the day. I would be more concerned about people reading Collen Hoover books that have some of them same themes and don't advertise themselves as being a dark romance, than books that are advertised as dark romance.
I agree completely with you. I think adults can (hopefully) better separate fiction from reality. I read romance with men who are sometimes toxic but I’m never interested in that irl (I’m also dating someone who is the complete opposite of them and have been for a decade).
Young girls may not be able to separate it as easily, of course most of them probably can but I just know there are some of them who can’t. This coming from someone who was a teen at one point and probably would have been one of those girls if the wrong person came along.
Yes, two!
Also you should totally reward yourself with reading more of the Tessa Dare series after having had the 4 disappointing books.
I'm loving this series. I subscribed after the first episode and after watching a few more of your videos, you've helped me get out of my reading slump since Feb 24, so thank you!📚📖💟
Tessa Dare just hits different. I've read many historical romances and often come back to her writing because I like how it feels
I have read a lot of historical romance but never by this author, I am definitely going to give it a chance now
I love this series. I enjoy the mix of genres you've read so far, and particularly the fact that none of them are the Hot! New! Book of the Summer! OMG, obsessed! Sometimes I feel like some booktubers think that they can only like something if it's the latest, most hyped new release that everyone else is also talking about. It's much more fun to delve into the stacks with you.
I hope you're doing OK after reading Hungry, and that you're being kind to yourself. Dealing with any kind of disordered eating is tough, and you're very brave to share a bit of what you're going through with us all🫶
Glad to know that I’m not the only person for whom the phrase “first things first” must be followed by “I’m the realist.”
Love this challenge. I need to do something similar with my own shelves but it’s so intimidating!
Historical romance like that book is my guiltiest of pleasures. They are quick, they are steamy, the men are hunky, they make me squeal and kick my feet. I try to only read a handful of them each year otherwise I would burn myself out on them
I love your energy and your way of explaining why you like or don't like a book.
I personally am on the cheesy romance side I don't like it when a love interest treats the protagonist badly, I've seen enough of that in real life.
At the end of the video I was dying of laughter when you said that you had not bought books but you had bought more yarn 🤣
I am obsessed with you and your videos !!! Your personality is so comforting and feels so safe. Absolutely love 🤍🤍
Ahhh please do 2 episodes in June! I am loving these:)
The sleepover camera shot took me out! You make me laugh out loud.
Do you have any more books by Hendricks and Pekkanen? Now that you’ve read two by them and not liked either, are you going to keep giving them a shot or just unhaul any you have?
Loved the video!💜
Girl you are so f-ing funny. I love this series!
The second book in the Tessa Dare series is amazing. It’s got two “weird” little girls and they are hilarious
Thank you for the videos! You are a delight. 😊 the sleepover clip had me laughing out loud.
"I'm going to get on your level" *bed raises* LOL
YESSSS, new episode!! 🥳👏 I am here with my snacks
I love your Bookshelf Ultimatum videos so much! Also your are so funny! Small comments such as like, we are at a sleepover and let me get on your level. I love it!💖
I love this serie! It's so all over the place with genre!!!
Love the 'Girl Meets Duke' series - you're gonna love the next book!
I was so excited for House of Hollow!! I loved that one 😂 Maybe next time
I did put it back in the jar so possibly!
I am loving your Bookshelf Ultimatum series! So fun!!
I'm so happy you are loving the historical romance! It's my favourite genre of romance! I love them so much. I love Eloisa James and Jo Beverly. I have so many reccomendations if you want!
Even tho you didn’t like a lot Atleast you read them and you will have more space for books you love☺️ another great video you always make me laugh
I absolutely love your personality and how you let it shine in your video. Please don't let anyone dull that sparkle!
That Tessa Dare book is the only one I've read by her and I loveeeed it aswell! I was giggling and kicking my feet while reading this. I can't wait to continue reading more of her books
The second one is even better!! I finished the second and the third yesterday 😜
@@BethMorvant Omg I had completely forgotten that I’ve also read another book by her called “When a Scot Ties the Knot” and it’s also a super funny super good time!!! Idk if you also own this one, but it’s another funny book by her
I personally like dark romance because I love villains - it’s fun and cathartic to read a bad person being a bad person
A lot of dark romance is…rough to get through, though - I didn’t like Hooked, either
I love this series so much, I can’t relate to having so many books but it gives me the same feeling of decluttering my own home to see you unhauling
I completely understand 🫶🏻 I’m more of a Prince Charming kind of gal 😜
one historical romancey series i like is the love comes softly series! its also like independent woman ish too i adored the first book.
I'm subscribing! Your editing for your intro is perfectly snappy. I'm doing something similar with my TBR, only I wrapped all of mine in brown paper. I only had 46 unread books, and my goal is to get my physical TBR down to 10 books. I'm a consistent 'starter' and will forget I started a book and then start three more before I finish on. Now I have One physical book to read at a time. My Kindle library is a different issue... I'm too afraid to tackle that one yet.
added The Duchess Deal to my tbr based on your reading experience! Loved this video 🥰
I do love this series this gives me some new ideas for books I’ve never read historical romance but I’m going to give the duchess deal a try
Its like a sleepover made me lol !
Also a moving bed !!!! I want one of those !!!
I have an afghan that was crotched for me in the later 90s by an elderly neighbor and I still use it!! Figured you’d appreciate to know that they can hold up and be used for decades ❤
Wow! I may be headed to a jar with pink slips myself. I never understood the TBR problem until I began collecting my own books in the hopes of filling shelves. I wish you good luck! such a fun video. Thanks for sharing. Elizabeth
❤️🤣📚❤️. YES two next month!
You are so good with your synopsis of books, very entertaining. I would go so far as to say, don't hold back on the spoilers, but I understand that a lot of others wouldn't agree with me. I think you were the right person for the Hunger book review, very important and necessary review. Thank you.
Justice for House of Hollows! 😂 put it on your June tbr for this challenge, maybe?
Love this series, love the crochet content! 💜💜
Love that blanket 😍 Makes me want to start knitting again. I really want to make a chunky yarn blanket (I see them in the store and am drawn to them) but am not sure what to do it after I make it 😅
I remember enjoying the duchess deal :)
Tessa Dare, Lorraine Heath and Stacey Reid are historical romance QUEENS!
I’m also new to crochet, I started with hats and now I’m onto Baby Blankets. The Secret Yarnery , Hooked with Robin and and Bag-o-day crochet are great tutorials for beginners!
I just came across your channel a couple weeks ago and Ive watched both pf your other Ultimatum videos. I just love the way you describe the books you read and your reviews/thoughts on them. If you’re wanting to get more into historical romance I really recommend a Stitch in Time. The romance aspect is so fun to read and it has a mix of mystery and suspense that just makes it so much better.
The Duchess deal sounded so cute, I had to grab it. I’m on pins and needles waiting for my copy of the new SK book.
Yeah I don't read much romances but when I do it's either fantasy romance or historical romances. I have learned to run in the other direction when a book is labelled dark romance (I don't find being abused very romantic or psychopaths sexy).
I love love these videos! It inspires me to read my shelves! Glad you were able to make some room on your shelves at least
Have to admit that Hooked sounds horrible but I loved you telling us about it. Lol!!
Wow...that's a serious TBR. Your doing good though, your reading a lot to get them done. I do love your videos, you always make me laugh. Thank you Beth 😊💜📚
hope you're doing alright :) sometimes I pick up a book thats very triggering and it really is not fun so I get where you're coming from. so glad you had fun reading the romance book though teehee I might have to check it out.
I really enjoy this series. I do hope you continue to do more. The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare is now on my tbr!
I loved The Duchess Deal
@@kelsieknock9788 I'm excited to read it because it because I love those kinds of books especially how it was described.
I watched your first two unhaul videos on Friday and I can't believe I'm just on time for the third!! These videos are so addicting, and I hope you keep up with them!
I love historical romances, I think they are one of the best sub-genres of romances (definitely better than contemporary if we're talking about straight couples sorrynotsorry). I try not to read them too often so I don't burn out, and this way I've been reading Scottish ones for the last couple of years. I'd say they're usually less fluffy than your typical regency era ones, but they're so good.
I'm not opposed to dark romances, but I have absolutely no desire to read Disney dark romances. Especially when they often seem to only be Disney themed to get more sales.
Thank you for your honest opinion on Hungry. It’s been on my tbr but I think it would be triggering for me too. I’ve struggled with disordered eating since I was 8. You’re not alone…sending you strength ❤️
I love that Tessa Dare series! That whole series is like that so I hope you’ll continue reading them!
Hi Beth I found your channel a few days ago and I’ve watched your bookshelf ultimatum series and it inspired me to do this as well. I’m probably not gonna unhaul my books but as of now I have 125 books and only 30% of them are read. I’ve been in a reading slump for a long time so this is really going to help me and also I really love your videos and your humor. So thanks girly💕
I'm so glad I found you through this series on your channel! Loving your videos. New subscriber ❤
I recommend outlander if you like historical fiction/romance and time travel
The motorized incline 😂😂 hilarious
ahh yay!! this series is what got me subscribed, so i'm so excitedd!!
So glad you loved the Tessa Dare. Saved the set of 5 😅 wishing you a heck of a lot better pulls next time ❤
This is such a good series of videos, really enjoy watching them. Also I love to see your crochet as well 😊 I enjoy doing crochet whilst listening to an audiobook as well.
46:44 TWO EPISODES IN JUNE? Oh I'm sat with my snacks
Would love two episodes next month !
You’ve inspired me to start my TBR jar (also with 721 reads) and to pick 5 a month! I’m still gonna be buying periodically but this is getting out of control 😂
Haha if I’m being honest I probably would have just unhauled them all as soon as I pulled them lol
My favorite video series of yours! Sorry this one did not turn out better tho LOL!
Highly recommend To Have and to Hoax and sequels for funny historical romance! They are so good!
I am glad for this series! You are a new favorite booktuber for sure!
Thank you so much 🥹🫶🏻
I feel like dark romance is such a give or take.Like a lot of people don’t like it,it just has to be your thing
I want to learn how to crochet now
I love that blanket! It’s looks so cozy!
Loving this series! I need to do the same. My shelves are out of control 😅
As much as it sucks to get bad book pulls, at least they can be out of your life now! Making space for healthy, enjoyable reads in the future.
I LOVEEEE this series I look forward to it every time!!!
Ok, my Goodreads WTR is exploding since I found your channel. I just purchased Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow. I'm excited for that one, however....the two you did finish in this video, definitely hit my WTR list and I'll probably order them, ohhhh, in a week or so. So glad I found your channel....and I'm recommending it to my sister!!!! EDIT: I just ordered The Duchess Deal for my Kindle!!! LOL!!!
The thing about the Bridgerton books is that they get better. The first one apparently is the worst of them. I don't know personally because I haven't read them. I just like the show.
Yey! I'm loving this series and the little vlog stuff you put into them. I was excited to hear about the anonimus girl, too bad it was lame. I was inspired by this ans picked up The Kiss of Deception that was on my shelf since 2016. I'm really enjoying it!
I just read Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare and it was one of my only five stars reads so far this year. I think you should pick up more of her books.
754 books!! How is your house big enough?@? 😂❤ my husband would kill me lol... I borrow from the library and use my kindle... only buy absolute favourites ❤
Literally love this series!!
I actually love these videos so much I can't wait for the next one already
omg i love this series ❤️ it's sooo good to see you again
Love this video series!
I stopped getting Thriller books from BOTM (not sure if you got An Anonymous Girl from them but it was a choice at one point) because they were always so predictable. Do you have recommendations of one that just blew you away?
Love this series!! Thank you for what you do.
Peri menopause. I started around 37. Was full blown done by 45…
i'm loving this series
Tessa Dare is definitely one of the best historical romance authors! She's got a unique writing style that feels lighter than a lot of others. I think someon with a somewhat similar writing style is Martha Waters. But if you're okay with some books that are a little more angst-y, Sarah MacLean, Courtney Milan, and Lisa Kleypas are great choices too. And when you want somewhere that's not The Ton, I would highly recommend DIana Biller. :)
You’re my hero! Definitely adding all these names to my list. Definitely a huge fan of angst!
Ok, so this video just showed up on my feed, and I am so glad that it did. You were so much fun to watch. I love your personality (also your dog is super cute)! I do a series on my channeI called Have I read It to help me prioritize reading those books that have been on my shelf forever, but mine is more of a game and I don't read the books in the same video.
I am not a regency romance reader, but I did get a kick out of listening to you talk about The Dutchess Deal. Lol, "we know y'all are going to fall in love." 😂 Almost makes me want to read it. I read Hooked and actually quite enjoyed it. Spoiler Alert: Hook turns out to be good and sweet and Peter turns out to be the bad guy. I had the author in one of my lives where we discussed the book. You might prefer the next book in that series because it is more regency romance. It is called Scarred and is a Lion King retelling. I dnf'd Scarred very quickly but that is because of me not liking regency romances.
You did a great job with this. New subscriber here! I can't wait to check out more of your videos.
If you choose to read House of Hollow, I highly recommend the audiobook. It’s a bit of a creepy book and the narrator does an incredible job
I think its just the dark romances you're reading! I'd recommend Still Beating. Check the triggers! But it's not all about the smut and there's an actual story line.
Omg I love this Tessa dare series
i made the same face you did when you pulled house of hollow haha. I'm reading house of leaves right now and it is NOT an easy read
I just finished hooked last night, it was good
I love this series soooo much!!!❤
My auntie hit menopause at 27 and ever since I found that out I’ve been paranoid about everything 😂
Yeees ma'am
love this series 👏🙌
🫶🏻👏🏻
Love this series.
Lmao! I gave an anonymous girl 5 stars 😂 BUT it’s because I love their writing and their flawed, weird, crazy ass characters. I don’t recommend their books because I know they won’t be for everyone but I just love the messy, drama filled stories 😅
Just when I thought we could be friends. 😂
