    Thanks for a great review. I have both watches and your functionality is spot on. Rangeman.....I rely on for survival. H1000 is my Fitbit replacement. Good points of H1000. Faster GPS acquisition when worn on wrist. 20 seconds compared to 2 minutes (average). Vibrate alert, call and text alert (really needs a microphone like the Apple Watch allowing you to take calls. Battery life (superb), back light and finally comfort. Bad points....Flimsy strap, glass scratches, complicated menus, some alerts are meaningless, overall durability not what you would expect from a G-shock. If you could put the GPS, and Battery from the H1000 into the Rangeman you would have the perfect watch. Hope that this is useful.

      I'm getting some feedback that the GBD-H1000 is based upon fitness training and running, so anyone wanting to know more information with regards to riding a bicycle say it's not the greatest. For running it's perfect, and seen a few have turned to the Instinct by Garmin.
      Personally for me, I'm all about navigation and the GPR is my watch between them both. I was going to review the GBD-H1000 but as its focus is upon the fitness and running, then it's best left to the likes of DC rainmaker and the other fitness guy who are into this side, so have pulled away from that review, as I would only review it upon the ABC functions, and because I'm breathing, I don't need a watch to tell me that my heart is beating LML :-P

    Yes indeed the vibe alert is a one the most useful features you could have on any watch for that matter. More often than not the alarm sounding off is often too low a volume.

      Got one question. Is it possible to do a quick switch between altimeter, barometer and compass on the Rangeman or display it in different screens? While I’m hiking I like to switch between these functions quick and easy without using a crown and scrolling. On my GBD-H1000 it works, I can switch between ABC with only one button. Also in training mode I have 3 different screens where I can customise the shown informations including the ABC data’s. I ask, because I’m additionally interested for the Rangeman because of it’s navigation features and it’s “Master of G” quality ;-)

    • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  4 года назад +3

      @@wolfgangtraxl812 I like how you have the ABC from home screen, the GPR doesn't have this, the quickest way is one press on the mode button, scroll down and there is the ABC, but you'll need to scroll to choose, while in navigation you do have a quicker view to altimeter if it's already opened... but compass no... you can opt to show the barometer in home screen which stays on. The GPR is more navigation with the ABC not far away... and of course there's the premium materials as it's a Master of G :)
      I must say one thing, the icons on the GBD-H1000 such as LT look tiny and seem dotted around... the GPR has this more focused at the bottom at a good size... what is your view upon this?

      Thank you my dear friend :)
      When Simple 1i mentioned about doing this video I wasn't sure how it would work, as most of the time when making videos with no watch to hand usually gets the flakes upset, but am really pleased that so many think it was done well. I thought putting it next to the Rangeman would answer many questions, as I for one was thinking is It a replacement to the GPR-B1000 but with my research found it's actually something completely different, which is a good thing. I think they've gone in the right direction as it's not a smart watch, so will have plenty and plenty of life long use I'm sure.
      Price seems to be good, and it's still a 200m G-Shock, so that must be a first, as most of these activity watches are only rated to 100m.
      You can see the difference in build next to the Rangeman, and it clearly it clearly shows how the Rangeman is priced the way it is, with the secondary market still strong on them. I would guess these will sell like hot buns, then settle to a price around £350 Male £300. I was thinking to have the Instinct in the equation but that again is something different, plus it has no O2 sensor. Looks like the app works well from the videos I've seen, and should be a very useful tool to monitor your activities.
      Thanks again

I'm personally much more interested in the GBD, for working out and hiking. Never felt the need for a "save my life" kind of watch. That's the nice thing about G-Shocks, there's a model for each purpose and personal style.

      Cheers buddy :)
      I was referring to the Rangeman being the one I would choose if whatever happened, but that's just a side that G-Shocks have become, a loyal piece of kit that's always ready :)
      The GBD-H1000 looks good for the fitness side, and it's another series of G-Shocks that spreads it further still for choice :)
      I wasn't sure how I was going to make such a video when Simple 1i mentioned it, but one thing that crossed my mind, was it an upgrade... but with much research it was actually another addition to the line up, so wanted to show them the best way possible next to each other with the content that's available without having the actual watch, and not make it about which is better, they're for different purposes and can live with each other, and I think the G-Squad is priced well, as the Rangeman is still a chunk of money. I'm glad CASIO didn't go smart watch and kept it to their module type :)
      I've done a few tutorials on the Garmin Fenix and Instinct, another two great watches I own. It's all down to your needs and what you want from a watch of this type... the Fenix 6 Pro is an incredible watch and one I chose when I need a route planned that requires a lot more details because of the maps that are installed in the watch... so the question, do you spend another £125 and go for the Fenix 6 Pro???? That's a tough one as we know G-Shocks will outlive any smart watch of today.
      Cheers for the message and thanks for the feedback, as I thought this video being that it has no physical watch would get slammed :-P

    I pre-ordered the black one from Casio. I waited a long time for a G-Shock with notifications. I feel like i'm probably the market they were trying to reach out to as other than the look, ruggedness, steps, heart rate and notifications the additional diehard stuff i wouldn't even use. I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 46mm now. My only concern with this is going to be the size as I never had a watch this large other than a Protrek model but Wear OS was terrible and it wasn't this thick but i am also assuming it is designed to fit overall much better. Does it make any sense to add some kind of screen protector to these? Clearly it's extremely rugged but i wouldn't mind preventing screen scratching if that's a potential issue. Looking forward to it.

      To be honest, I wouldn't bother... upon one knock the protector will be marked and then probably start to come away with heat and water, then dirt gets sandwich and then just looks ugly... but if you feel that's what you need then I see Brian has been kind enough to leave a link :)
      With 101g this a light watch especially for the features... nice silicon strap with plenty of adjustments and vents so looks like it will be a fantastic fit, maybe better than the Rangeman for sure with regards to fit.
      It looks like it has all you need to track your activity and none of that fancy stuff which is just for nothing... button operation is my choice, as touch screens get confused when wet... The price looks great, and can see these getting a big hit, as so far these types of fitness watches are't durable enough, and this is also durable inside as it's a hybrid... will outlive anything of todays smart watches :) Excited for you my friend :))

    Awesome ! Have you bought one already ?....I find this amusing to be honest. G-Shocks for outdoors, G-Shocks for fitness, G-Shocks for this and that. Lol You all just look at them. They´re G-Shocks. I can workout in the gym with my Mudman as with the GBD. I can survive in the wilderness with a Rangeman (any of the two) a Mudmaster or with this GBD. They´re G-Shocks. The mud resistance, vibe resistance, tough movements and other things are just marketing stuff regarding certain issues inside the watch construction wise. In the end, they´re all shock, vibration, magnetic, water, mud, dust, sand whatever resistant. The same with materials, as an example sapphire vs mineral. They´re both good. Both have positives and negatives. They´re G-Shocks and they´re awesome ! :)

      The G-Squad is for fitness tracking, the Rangeman is a giant power house with that basic Navigational side... while the Instinct is a mix of them all... then the Fenix 6 Pro comes and stirs it up more LML :-P
      The Instinct is a fine watch, and you can navigate with it using planned routes from Garmin Explore... think this G-Squad has the tough side in favour, plus the display looks like it holds loads on information at once, so you don't have to scroll scroll looking at tiny numbers.

      Well asking Mr Rangeman is like asking a goat if they prefer a straw hat to eat or goats cheese??? As I already own a Fenix I don't need anymore cheese, so a straw hat for me :))
      If you're out of breath this is a sign you're either doing it right or you've pushed to hard, but when you stop breathing that's the point when looking at your watch is the last thing to mind :-P I don't use HR monitors so this isn't going to be for my activities, but for those who do this looks like a good watch to use... and being it's not a smart watch makes it a solid choice for years to come... think Fitbit are shaking LML :-P

      I did quite a bit of investigation before making this video, to really make sure I have all the details correct, but couldn't find tide/moon or sunset sunrise in any of the descriptions.... only time will tell, and once the module PDF is available only then you can everything it can offer. The G-Squad is for fitness, so will track you, but it doesn't have navigation, it might take point memos, but nothing mentioned that it can navigate you. The battery is enough for a day with GPS and HR running, so it looks like it'll need charging after every day if using it hard that way... the Rangeman is still the power house when it comes to GPS endurance, and I'm still waiting if Garmin would let me borrow the solar Fenix 6 to test that :-P

    • @MrCarpen7er

      The GPR B1000 only has moon and tide if you connect it to the app. Also, you have to scroll thru hours to get the right tide. Never understood that since many other cheap G-Shocks before showed the tide phase on the right time.

      When Simple 1i mentioned that I should make a video on this, the one thing glowing in my thoughts was "is this an upgrade to the GPR-B1000?"
      It looks great and I must admit that I was feeling like I have the lesser of the two... but after lots of searching I discovered it's a totally new watch that's focused on the fitness side... and if like me who is active but doesn't need to monitor the health side with heart rates then this will likely be bought for the looks.., and the GPR-B1000 is a Master of G using more quality materials.
      If you like more information with regards to tracking or navigating then the Instinct or Fenix 6 Pro... but if you just need a watch that has all the functions needed for day to day, but like to have something that notes a location that can be navigated later too, then the GPR-B1000... after the few years with the GPR-B1000 I really understand the logics of it, it's basic, but reliable and is built tough... I'm not worried with the completion as the Rangeman would be my one watch choice if it did go ugly that's for sure.
      Welcome to chat more, so will leave this comment open, but you seem like you have my thoughts too. I would love to review it, but it's not a watch I would really use, it's more for the looks as I have already the Garmin's.

    Could you tell me Mr Rangemen which watch has more memory in terms of gps tracking?

    • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  3 года назад +1

      Hey buddy... Now that's an interesting one as nobody has been crazy enough to test it, but with my view and what I've read about in the manual, is that the GBD-H1000 has a maximum of 18hrs, while the GPR has a possible of 48hrs (2x24hrs)
      The GBD-H1000 can take 100 logs, but it still has the 18hrs, while the GPR-B1000 has only 20 logs but can run twice 24hrs (48hrs) So the GPR has more GPS memory.
      Now, what are you after, as the GPR-B1000 is more your tracking and navigation, while the GBD-H1000 is more about activity tracking with regards to training, so makes them very different.
      Personally, I feel the GBD-H1000 will need charging more often than stated, and judging by the secondary market, they're dropping quite a lot in price. I hear many like them, but have also heard many have switched to the Instinct, so it's down to your needs.

Maybe have a read of their comment as I'm generally interested. WatchUP69 Mr Rangeman well, I don’t really care about other’s opinions or comments in such regards. A survival tool is personal & should be treated as such imo if that makes sense? Super accurate gps? No, but I don’t need super accurate in a survival situation I hope doesn’t happen. I only need the breadcrumbs it provides. If you can’t find your way back to your gear using crumbs ya got way bigger problems than an accurate gps can resolve. I have a sojj L at charger for my fenix 6. But what if that panel breaks or fails? The Rangeman is an invaluable tool. Almost as important as the gps are the sunrise/sunset features. That is huge info I want every day. Overpriced... not even remotely. Is it expensive? Yep. Worth it? Yep. ALL quality survival gear is expensive. Not sure how they phrase it in your country, but here it’s basically buy once, cry once.

      Hey buddy... This video was because of a subscriber says the same with regards to how I review. You know I'm about detailing and of course the geek side. So putting this video together was more about the comparisons and to really make it clear it's not a new Rangeman. I can get my hands on one to borrow, but am holding back based on a few things, mainly because being I'm not into the fitness tracking and training side, my side is with navigation and adventure. It all depends on what you want from the watch, if it's looks then the rest isn't a concern. Now G-Shocks aren't cheap, and maybe using plastic buttons works better, as clanging metal buttons on workout equipment isn't going to be a pleasing sound. It's not a Master of G and the price on the GBD-H1000 isn't either being half the price of the Rangeman. I feel you need to look at real time tests of this watch, testing it with what is has, not what it can't... you can rip anything apart, but with me, you have to see how and what it offers to see if it's enough for your needs. G-Shocks are made to run for a lifetime as they're not using smart watch tech, only the Bluetooth side... but smart watches offer way way more, but do get outdated.
      I've not handled on of these GBD-H1000's so can't be honest with you if it's worth it... it's only the worth if it's good for your needs, and if you're doubting the plastic buttons, why go further and try and force yourself.
      Is it the looks or functionality?
      I hope I'm helping a little, as I always like to dig around to knowing what people need from these types of watches.
      I really appreciate your feedback too saying I'm awesome, this really makes me boost my face with smiles :)))))

    Do you guys think that will be accurate?

    • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  4 года назад +1

      I have to say that all these gadgets for taking health readings is just to be used as a guild... your body burns different foods not always the same, the heart rate is probably the more accurate, but depends what activities you're doing, as the watch only needs to be lifted off your wrist quickly which equals a false reading, it's not a big deal but if you're wanting more accuracy then you'll need one of those HR belts around your waist, but these aren't comfortable and can slip... also they need washing as they can stink quite quickly... With a watch it's a good way to see how your performance in health is as long as you've entered your correct details about yourself. I've got three watches that measure HR's and calories and they're all a little different... but it's not a vast amount. To have anything accurate then you're looking at very hi-tech testing equipment, and this would have to be very controlled I'm sure... to measure your progress these types of watches are very convenient... and with the connected app you'll see your progress, also your lazy days LML :-P
      If you need more information then I'm sure there's pages of this written, as the health side is taken pretty seriously... I'm also sure these watches are tested in many different ways with all types of peoples, before they have a watch they're happy with to release... but to find a wrist watch with HR and calories to be accurate hasn't been invented yet.... these are just a guidance as far as I've seen.
      I'm sure there's plenty of experts in this field that can help you further. That's my view on it, hope it helps towards all your answers.

      The GPR-B1000 still has a strong sale hold which is a good part... now it was only released in 2018 so can't tell, but looking at some of my vintage G-Shocks these are still functional, and with today's methods it should last further... just get a spare bezel and bumpers and I would guess this is lifetime... the carbon in the strap should prevent it from stretching so that looks like life long too... but it's also down to how you use it and clean it, as leaving sea water all over it isn't wise as you have no idea what chemicals are in there... The GBD-H1000 is at a good price, would see this dropping to around £350 after the hype... guess new colors will come after. Always look for discount codes is a must ;)
