I wish we had RUclips back in the 60’s and 70’s when I sat in front of my record player and wore out albums learning this song. I learned this back in 1968. This is a great lesson!!!!
Thought about that a million times. Had to work a little bit harder but when you figured out the licks or song you feel proud or like you accomplished something. 60s and 70s were g
Thanks so much. Hadn't heard this lovely song in decades. I see Garfunkel performed this on his rooftop during the pandemic. Have to listen to the recording and work on my timing.
Hi Chris , i've been waiting for this tutorial for ages! taught by you it's an icing on the cake, one of the best teachers online, keep up the good work
Great lesson. Lovely song. Glad you chose standard tuning. I like alternate tunings but not if it requires tuning strings up in tone, always afraid a string might snap.
@@SixStringFingerpicking hi guys, I just add a comment on your RUclips channel. I am trying to buy from you but I am unable to fill out the form. It doesn’t let me access the different info boxes…
Thank you for that. I've nearly learnt to play it in 2 hours! just waiting for my vocalist friend so we can coordinate the picky guitar and vocals for a future open mic.
I’m slowly working through this one piece by piece, great tutorial! I’m playing it on a spruce top classical and it sounds just as good, but a little different. Thank you!
On the last verse Paul plays something different on "the autumn winds blow chilly and cold". It's not the same as in the first two verses like you showed.
Excellent piece and congrats for the channel. I got this and Homeward bound's tabs, best ones I could find out there. As a request it would be extremely helpful for a better understanding to get the lyrics progression along the tab and a video of full playing the song. I just get lost after a few bars trying to sing the song 😑. Carry on with the pieces please 👏👏👏!!
Great tutorial as always. But I am really missing the "performance" you used to have at the beginning. As you have always advocated it is good to use as a check on timing, etc. Any chance of these being included in time going forward?
Thanks Charl, I usually do full performances for arrangements but for songs like this I usually just do a demo of the part I'm about to teach. I'll certainly consider a full performance going forward. Cheers
Just come across your channel..thankfully. Thinking of investing in a new guitar after many years of being without one. Is that a Martin 000 by any chance? I have a small hand and would like to narrow down some options before I venture out shopping. Any advice ? thank you
Hi there, Chris I am trying to buy few lessons from you via your website but It doesn’t let me enter anything in the different boxes requiring my personal info. Or anywhere else on the website for that matter. Hence this comment. Help please. Thank you.
Hi, sorry to hear you're having some trouble. Would you mind emailing hello@sixstringfingerpicking.com with a screenshot/video of what's happening and we'll help you. Thanks

I dont know why the writers themselves cannot release the tabs. Plethora of the interpretations are different compared to the original.
Several artists play songs differently each time

Thank you so much and you’re very welcome!
one of my favourite songs, thank you!! this was performed at my grandpas funeral as it was one of his favorites too
You're very welcome. Ah, your grandpa certainly had good taste.
Another Paul Simon song along this same pattern and manipulation of chords is Kathy’s Song. Beautiful lyrics in both songs.
Magnificent. It will take me a while to get it all down but your lesson is perfect. Thank you for posting this.
Glad it was helpful!
Might not be the smartest thing to learn this as my first song ever on the guitar, but this song has my heart so challenge accepted
Yay!
How's it been going with learning the song?
@@seenonyt2210 trying my best, struggeling a bit with the rhythm tho :')
@@nathaliedextor wow, congratulations! It's a steep learning curve for a first song :)

Hey, it's a 000 Sinker. My only advice when searching for a new guitar is to simply try loads of them out, then buy the one you can't put down.
What does "d with an 11 in" mean? Very new to guitar
I wouldn’t worry about it if you’re very new to the guitar but it’s to do with notes in the scale (degrees) being added into the chord.

Bro that capo was throwing me off
My hand is too small to play the bass note the my thumb 😢
Can you put your chord shapes in tabs going forward. It would help on your songs
Try,to teach mi howto guitar,,sir april come
I've never heard of anybody tuning a guitar up half a semitone.
Yeah it's pretty rare but it does happen
😢I’m jealous that I’m not a good guitar player-I wish I could be.
Ur a great player but a pretty fast teacher haha. Maybe slow it down
Jesus Christ how do people even conceive these melodies? My beginner ass does not compute
Just give it time, you’ll get it eventuality

Over complicated it any travis picking will do for this song
You should have sung it so they can follow, or you don't know how to sing?
It's useless if you didn't sing it to know where the right chords.
