I think you should mention to your subscribers that.....probably just as important as the articles of clothing are....remember to keep everything properly altered, PRESSED (no wrinkles!!!!) ironed, dry cleaned, laundered. There's nothing worse than a rumpled outfit...scuffed shoes, unkempt hair and makeup! All of the above reflects on how you feel about yourself and therefore how you are presenting yourself to the public....whether going to the grocery store or applying for a new position. And MOST importantly...A BIG SMILE IS ALWAYS IMPORTANT!!

True, I've noticed that I am getting a little lax on the details. My shoes are in good order but I need to polish them a bit more and even though I air dry my work pants, they could probably use a light pressing. Thanks for the post.

I am a stay at home mom and LOVE this video for myself as well. I have always prided myself on looking nice and not falling into a rut with my appearance. I love classic, simple, yet sophisticated pieces that are easy to mix and match. Thank you for encouraging women to be classy. ❤ Love your channel

Excellent message! At work, I make so many decisions and was overwhelmed trying to decide what to wear everyday. So, I went the Steve Jobs route; I have one dress for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and another for Tuesdays and Thursdays. Multiples of the same dress, of course 😊. I chose nicely structured pieces that are machine-washable. So easy.

The shoe maintenance is key to polish, remove scuffs, nicks and small tears on heels of pumps, replace heel protectors, etc.

Excellent, Dominique. I cannot agree more. I've been working in the financial sector for more than twenty years, and your guidelines are exactly the ones most of the women lived by. As you said, the better dressed, the faster people appeared to get ahead. Clothes make people, as a known word of mouth says.

This video put me on White House Black Market, 2 years later I am still obsessed. Black Halo went over my head the first time I watched this video, OMG I’m obsessed with Black Halo for work dresses. The neckline of most of their dresses are to die for! Love you Dom 💕🌸

This video made my day. Something I'm routinely working to perfect - my corporate wardrobe. I have found that alterations are also a key part of finishing a polished look. Buying quality clothing is also important - no matter the price point - since timeless looks enable a wardrobe to last a decade or more. An additional note to other women in the workforce that I've learned is invest in shoes that you can feel comfortable walking in an airport for work. I don't wear skirts, either - again, more of a choice of comfort. It takes effort and time to find a wardrobe that is comfortable and polished, but completely achievable. I'll also add that I am plus-size, so no excuses there - just learn how to find clothes that bring proportion to your individual body shape.
The biggest issue I cant seem to conquer is how to organize for business travel. I have the slim laptop, a few business folders, and all but eliminated toiletries as carry-on, yet purses still tend to get very heavy very quickly. I always check a bag rather than be concerned that I'm missing something for my wardrobe. I'd love to see ideas from you Dominique on how you carry work materials for travel as well!

I have a suggestion for you and the other ladies. It doesn't take a lot of sewing talent. I noticed the lovely blouse you were wearing was gaping in between the buttons. My mother in law taught me to sew small snaps in between the buttons to stop the gaping. It works in keeping the fabric flat. I love you and hope you are not offended.

I do the same -- sometimes it's about the manufacturer and how far they space the buttons apart, not just about the size of the chest.

Maggie Pentland absolutely agree. Must be careful to spaces between the buttons. The blouse is lovely but is ruined by the noticeable gaps. I either close the gaps or I wear a chemise underneath so that no bra shows. Cheers.

Having retired and, unfortunately, had a few health problems and gained some weight, I have slipped into the sloppy/relaxed mode of dress, i.e., athletic pants and t-shirts. I would appreciate, as others have noted below, a casual and easy wardrobe for home and errand running with low-to-no-heel shoes and some style. Thanks for all you do to keep us on our toes and glowing!

Great video! Agree with all of the comments. I also suggest: 1. Nude hose 2. Pink blouse is lovely but gap opening is distracting 3. Red Dress is attractive but V neck line is a little low especially if you are sitting in meeting or at computer. Jewelry is perfect! Thank you.

This video is worth as much as their degree in many cases, for women entering the work force. No one could teach this as well as you did in this video. Oh, so very many girls and women need this edge. It doesn't escape away with the excuse of being too expensive, either. These basics can be followed no matter where one buys ones clothes. I hope you'll do more videos like this one, targeting a different or wider demographic. I really enjoyed this!

Hi Dominique, great advice for new professionals or those who want to get ahead. One added tip... Hollywood Fashion Tape. Use it to keep blouses from gaping open (like your pink one), keep wrap dresses where they're supposed to be, bra straps under tops, etc. I'd probably even use it on that red dress to make sure the neckline didn't pucker or gape and inadvertently show more skin since it has the V-neck. Really enjoy your videos!

Perfect tips, especially in today's often too casual environment! I'd like to add that for those of us who don't work in an office anymore, PLEASE consider donating your corporate-style clothing to "Dress for Success" or similar organization. They assist women who can't afford otherwise to dress appropriately for job interviews.

Excellent video Dominique! You know times really haven't changed that much as far as dressing for success in the workplace. I was in the banking industry back in the 80's and 90's and I always dressed in the classic business attire and I always felt confident with my look. The only thing I would add to the "stay away" list is to take it down a notch on the perfume. Nothing worse than being overwhelmed by someone's scent of the day. Thank you - you look very beautiful in all your outfits.

Fantastic video!! EXACTLY what I was looking for. Re-entering the workforce (long story) and I need to re-invent myself and make myself over. I needed this for my new corporate look! I literally just bought a black pantsuit with white collared shirt yesterday, two blouses and I have two knee length pencil skirts and a new scarf. A step in the right direction. I have black patent and grey pumps - I will have to get some nude. Also THANK YOU for mentioning appropriate handbag. I needed to know what kind of handbag works in a corporate setting. I also have curly (often frizzy) hair so keeping it pulled back in a bun is what I was thinking for a professional look so I am so so glad to see that is exactly what you did. Jewellery minimal.... have noticed that you keep your earrings small and classy so will do same. Thank you so much please keep posting these amazing videos!! (now if I can just figure out how to properly apply makeup, I'll be okay). LOL

I'm so glad that you showed the sleeveless dress because I never know if (tasteful) sleeveless blouses/dresses are actually appropriate for work.

How would you dress a body type that has more of a tummy and less bottom? I have such a hard time dressing my body. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this. I enjoy all of your videos. You're great and such an inspiration.
