One trick to try for bearing installing is to put bearing in freezer prior to installing, should go in much easier.
Also large socket should work well for pressing back in the bearing incase the housing isn’t up to the task.
    Thanks for sharing good video!

I forget that trick all the time.
I use it regularly for seadoo wear rings, so much so that I just keep them in the freezer, but bearings and other press fit type things it doesn't click to do the same!
      Thanks for the reminder!

    ➡ Bearing driver set: amzn.to/3PgHl1E
    ➡ 2 Jaw puller: amzn.to/45PIrsh
    ➡ Bearing: Timken (2 pack - you only need 1): amzn.to/3PhZAVv OR SKF (1 pack): amzn.to/45QS7SY
➡ Timken Seal (16x28x7mm nitrile double lip oil seal, excellent quality): amzn.to/47Vv7E3
➡ uxcell Seal (Cheaper, easier to source, quality seems ok): amzn.to/4cq75mX
➡ OEM Volvo Penta impeller kit (21213660): amzn.to/3xhiu8n

Hmmm…the part references are no longer available expect for the bearing, but I have no idea if that same Timken will fit my 5.7 GI motor….are they all the same

Oh man I'll check in a little bit when I'm back near my computer and update them, there are a few different pumps, I can probably look up and see if your motor uses the same pump, is that a capital i or a lowercase L in the GI?

What are the other letters in your motor serial? if you want you can email me: tom at trythistv dot com
There are a number of options, some use the same pump, others are different. Some have numbers like PMDA, PHUS, while others just have a -C, -CF or such

Mine is a 2008 5.7 Gi (little I as in ida). That’s displayed on engine and the manual calls it a Gi-G. I ordered the Stay Cool kit for this motor and says it’s stainless bearings. Once I get it in hand I will see how it looks. If needed I will run it to auto parts store and get a Timken once I see the numbers on it for reference. The oem has no numbers I can see.
Great video and I have it all apart and ready for assembly though. I may even use one of my spare Volvo impellers as I have 5 since I change em every other year and none have many hours on them. If the kit looks ok I will go with it as that impeller will get swapped after 20 to 30 hours anyway.
It’s crazy that VP wants 80 plus dollars for an impeller.

Your Gi-G does use a slightly newer pump, but the staycool kit should have the parts you need, and worst case like you said you can match up a US made bearing if the one that comes with the kit doesn't look great. I would hope they are selling decent quality stuff, but you never know anymore.

Got it all installed and will test it tomorrow….the Stay Cool kit looked fine, but time will tell. Honestly, I’ve never had as much as a crack in any of the impellers I’ve changed. The bearing looked good to me but will make sure all is steady on the spin. My oem bearing wasn’t making sounds but had corrosion from water exposure so it was a matter of time…..it lasted 16 years so can’t complain. Thanks again for video….the knowledge saved me around 600 dollars.
