Thank you so much for all the info. I appreciate how you played the same tune on each one, and posted several links where we could find the prices of each uke.
Lots of models to agree with on that list. Nice to see a 'best of' video that doesn't just go with Amazon choices that are paid to be there! Can't argue with these!
GotAUkulele well said Baz. So many paid advertorials out there. It’s hard to find honest info sometimes. Your blog/channel being the exception of course!
At this point I reckon I could hand you my pencil case and you'd be able to play something amazing-sounding on it. Thanks for this video - you helped me realise that spending a ton on a new uke is not going to automagically gift me with the skill to play it, and sticking with my little beginner uke is fine for now. :)
I'm very attracted to an uke, so far I'm thinking of getting either a Kala or Luna, which would you recommend me the most? And btw, I'm interested in concert or tenor size, thanks!
Really useful and excellent review! I appreciate the talk of the structural differences; scale length, etc. Excellent! I'll check out your other offerings.
Hey, I just wanted to pop up here real quick. When I was first buying a ukulele, I knew absolutely nothing about ukuleles. I bought a Stagg US-RED ukulele and I wanted to recommend it for all the confused people out there. I have seen plenty of cheap ukuleles in my life, but this one is the bet one yet. It's really cheap, you can get it for as little as 35 euro in lots of places. It is well-made, definitely does not look like it would break when playing a little harder. It looks clean, sounds amazing, it has pretty soft strings, so it's perfect for people that have never played a string instrument before. It's tiny and handy. I have it for 2 years now, no defects, looks almost like new. This is my full honest opinion, and it is not biased or influenced in any way. I highly recommend this ukulele and i hope I helped :)
@@jjblank both are great choices they both sound about the same they both have pretty low action but if you are looking for a more sturdy colorful one go with eh flight one but if you are looking for a more traditional design then go with the kala
I'm in Mexico near Compostela. Am inspired to start learning an instrument. Ukulele suits my needs. Thanks to this video I now know I want a tenor. Thanks
Very interesting... about to buy my first Uke and wondered where I can get hold of the ST-concert... link above doesn't work!! also, which other 'concert' uke's would you suggest? thank you
Wow! Nice video. Very nice ukes. I wish i have one like that. I have made my own uke from rubbish woods and materials.... but im very happy because it works even the sound is not that good. 😄😄😄 im from the philippines.
Great review! Thanks for hosting and giving a lot of great information. Can you name some of the commercials with ukulele music? I want to play some of them but can't remember! Stay safe and well 💕💕🎵🎵
Obviously, the teardrop-ish one caught the most attention. If I were in the market for a wooden stringed instrument, I'd pick one of those up, and I've been eyeing a no-name brand long rectangular-ish one, too. I do wonder how things would have gone for the ukulele in popular perception had makers really tried to differentiate their pieces from guitars instead of going for the toy-guitar look. Addendum. That ST-Concert, as it's called, is hard to criticize from my ivory tower. Bigger neck for easier playing while keeping the form factor of a soprano with the deep sound of a more spacious body, and it looks sharp to boot. More things ought to be engineered like that; any dime-a-dozen corporate copy-paste job is a waste in my eyes. Come on, it doesn't matter how much you paid for one "traditional" ukulele if no one bats an eye as you busk in the street.
Luna are nice solid instruments and reasonable priced. Do you like it? Have you taken my free ukulele fundamentals course? www.ukelikethepros.com/offers/gjeA2otd/checkout
Well I'm thinking of buying the pure tone soprano ukulele cause it's like 25 bucks... But I can't find someone who has it so what's your opinion on this ukulele?
i came from no musical family , but i wanted to have ukelele or a guitar . I found kala ,flender ,martin or kala is best according to wat i searched 😮 So which is best ? best in sound and budget for a begginer like me?
In answer to your question, no, their stringing is not similar. Ukuleles are strung GCEA and guitars are EADGBE, so the chord shapes are nothing alike. Hope that helps.
@@lkaufman1062 Thanks, I understand that the cord shapes and tuning are different, perhaps I need to rephrase my question. Two persons wish to play the same song together, one is a guitarist, the other is on a tenor ukelele. Each musician will play the cord of C major on their instrument. Will they both be in tune using standard tuning for guitar (EADGBe) and standard Tenor uke tuning? If the answer is no, how should they tune to perform in the same key together? Thanks
thank you for the video and comparison! I'd include for beginners also what it actually means lower and higher G :). I used to go to a musical school in Russia many years ago yet don't remember much... lovely ukes indeed!
I know very little, but I disagree with most of these. Basically the suggestions are too expensive for a beginner who might get bored in a week. If you want a decent cheap Ukulele, then go to Amazon/fleabay and get something like a Kmise branded concert uke in mahogany or saple. it will cost you about 50 gbp probably have all the kit with it; bag tuner strap etc, and be more than good enough for your first year of practice. Don't buy a cheap plastic one. Don't get a soprano unless you have small hands, because you will not enjoy it as much as a concert size. If a total beginner, don't get a baritone, because it's really a 4 string guitar and you'll be the odd one out at ukulele band camp. With hindsight, I should probably have got a tenor rather than a concert, just because I'm used to playing guitar and sometimes size does matter. However the concert size I have is extremely good build quality with good inotation, a lovely deep sound, and only cost £50.
My mans really be posting this in Oct. 2019, but titling it for 2020

The four highest strings on your guitar are tuned the same as a baritone ukulele.

If each plays the named chord for THEIR instrument their music will be compatible.
