- MotorWeek's Overdrive is BACK! This time, Greg Carloss has a friendly competition on the autocross course against an 18-year-old aspiring racing driver. Greg is rocking a pretty stock Miata Grand Touring while Dylan's Miata is pretty modified and ready for a track day. Plus, there's a few more surprises in store. Who will win?

Thanks for having me on guys, it was so much fun!
As an owner of a 2021 MX-5 RF GT I congratulate you! Good luck with your future racing career.
@@jaydibernardo4320thank you so much!
Oh, this was great. I started autocrossing in 1987 with my brand new Mustang GT. I was all cocky and stuff with my big V8. Every weekend, I vividly remember getting my ass handed to me by VW GTI's and Rabbits. They just blistered the course, hopping up on three wheels around the tight corners. Great fun! Thanks for the memories.
My friend Pete took his dads Golf 16V to the autocross meet and destroyed everyone in it when he was 16. Those cars were badass
To be fair though it was an imported 16V, the only one in America at the time. His dad raced for VW and later moved to Honda. Still sick though
As some who does National level SCCA Autocross this looked like good old fun
Very cool addition to the MW channel👍
Props & Respect to all🚗
Reversing through the whole track gave me flashbacks of the police academy maneuverability test. We had to reverse through the entire track while maneuvering through different sets of cones. 1st set was a star shape, 2nd was 2 curves aligned with cones, 3rd a 90° turn, 4th parallel parking, 5th J-turn, and 6th slalom cones. Obviously we did this slow because slow is smooth and smooth is fast. But at the end they let us rip it in reverse for fun and it’s safe to say all the cones were murdered 🤣 however I was pretty good at the slalom in forward and reverse. Key part of doing them in reverse is your rear view mirrors!! Which is what none of these 2 used during the reverse portion
Kid ripped it
Great fun driving you two!
That backwards race looked like fun! haha. Both of you guys crushed it tho!
Amazing video, but it seems like he isn’t an “amateur”
More content like this, please!
Tires, tires, tires
So should we be looking for Dylan as a guest driver at Motorweek?
So much fun!!!
maybe an episode where you compete the best driver from local bmw, audi, porsche clubs ??
Miata to Miata the 200tw is all the time
🔥🔥🔥NICE JOB🔥🔥🔥
Wow. I know the test drives were important. However, this sort of thing would have never been imagined 30 years earlier.
I love chargers
Winner 🏆
Wait, who was the rookie?
And who was the pro?
I thought they made you put a rollbar for the track
Setting aside that this was not actually "pro" vs "amateur," (and certainly not a "rookie" as it stated on the thumbnail) it was a little cringy listening to an adult trash-talking a teenager.
Dylan 🤩 😍
Ikr! 😂
So what made you a pro ? Money??
He's reviewed cars for 10+ years
@@Eagle-wp4gy ahh yeah, I guess he said pro driver not fast driver.... Touché
@@a.benaway_racing Click-baity title. He's a professional car reviewer, the kid was an experienced cart and autocross racer. Most of these "pro vs amateur" competitions put a very experienced racer in a stock car up against an actual amateur who is brand new to competitive driving in a faster car. I honestly don't know what I watched, two dudes who have been racing around the same amount of time competing against each other?
Pretty sure i could take both of them.
Let's see you back it up on the track.
Would literally like to watch that
What do you drive?

Any old guy would smoke these two boys.
Lol. Greg called himself a pro. What a joke
As any pro driver will tell you, smooth is fast. Go into the corner with no brakes (obviously you brake before the corner), set your car, then accelerate off the corner.
That's incorrect. You have to blend inputs to maximize the friction circle. If you're braking before the turn it's wrong. Look up the term trail braking.
