I purchased mine a couple of months ago. I use it with my D5600. You can even use it to shoot some portraits. Liked it so much, I also got a Z 35mm S f/1.8 for my Z's. YES, they ARE both very well worth it in 2023 and beyond. Thanks for posting your video.
May the force I mean vibe be with you! Thanks for an enjoyable and comprehensive review. Love your style. I have the 50mm AF-S prime with my Nikon D40 but the field of view is rather narrow so will be buying one of these!
One really good DX lens is the 18-55mm afp . It produces very sharp contrasty pictures. The colours are also very good.. I've had this as a kit lens with my Nikon d3500, lightweight and works flawlessly.
Currently got an AF-P 18-55mm DX (non-vr) Y'think this'd be worth upgrading to? also considering either a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS or Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 VC.
When paired to a crop sensor camera it only renders a field of view of approximately 52.5 mm. Beside the crop optical field of view it still has the optical compression and characteristics of a 35mm lens. The vignetting would render it inadequate to be used in a full frame FX camera. Nevertheless it is fast (f1.8) well made lens for general picture taking. It's budget price could be the result of the aberration of a 35mm that attempts to act as a 50mm.
@@azores81no, focal length is focal length. A DX lens just won’t typically fill a FX sensor if you use one. But a 35mm fx or dx lens will both be functionally 52.5mm lenses on a dx sensor.
Love the vibe I was a lumix user too however sold everything and trying to check out older cameras. Getting a d7500 and now this 35mm 1.8. Any recommendation for a wider lens around 28 or a good street photography photo length ?
I use a Tokina 11-16 for wide field astrophotography. It's relatively fast gives decent milky way shots and time lapse. The cost is fairly reasonable too
@@sdhute I have the Nikon 10-20mm, very good for wide angle shots, especially when you want to do wide vistas, etc. Very clear images, its also light as anything. But it will distort images such as buildings etc due to the wideness of it. If you want for open landscapes, it is brilliant or to capture things where you just can not get back far enough to get everything in.
Vibe gets the like! 😂 I have both the 35mm and 50mm and use them with my D7100. I like them both, but I use the 50mm more - just something about the way the photos look, plus it’s just that extra bit of reach over the 35. I actually use the D7100/50mm combo more than my other cameras, a Fujifilm and Z5.
Another great vid, I was glad to see it paired up with a D90 as i am considering this exact combination in the near future. I did watch one of the D90 vids awhile ago and commented on it only to see you had more vids on the D90 so i got some watching to do! How well would this lens work on a D3200?
Hey was curious why did you go back to the crop? I was considering a d700. Also why not thed600 versus the d500? Got this lens & 50mm 1.8, d300 and d90.
@@grantrobertdavies yeah I agree mine broke with 111,000 actuations and I got a beat up one for about 60, 30000 actuation. I guess the question is you prefer a crop over a full frame for your main camera?
I have seen many reviews on this Nikon prime lens, and I'm going to go ahead and get one. It is hard to believe that you can get one at such a reasonable price! Thanks for the video and the lens information!
Hi Grant. I like your vibe! I have bought the DX 35mm 1.8. I’m a beginner. Ps i do have a DX NIKKOR 55-200 f 4.5-5.6g from a previous camera ( that was stolen!!
Totally vibing with this video bro lol. Ok I’m thinking about purchasing a kit from a buddy. Nikon d3200, the lens it came with, a zoom lens, and this 35mm lens for cheap. My plan is product photography, is this particular lens going to be good for that?
Thank you :) Yeah you could certainly use this lens for product photography - Just make sure your lighting is good (really good) and watch out for your minimal focusing distance... :)
35mm on a crop means, portrait at 3meters, street photos at 5meters and family travel photos at 7meters. Very versatile focal length, I even have the 40mm macro welded in my D7200. Which is more versatile because it can focus closer to get flower macros and will serve as a 35mm at infinity.
I bought it this week for my D3200. Good lens for portrait
Just ordered mine in 2024 for my outdated Nikon 3300😂
Hey, I have the same camera, and I'm pondering buying this lens, could you tell me how it has been so far?
@DonutDrawsStuff I really enjoy this lens and typically use it and my 50mm most of the time. Would like to get an 85mm next.
I too have the same camera, and I am looking to buy the same lens, what’s it been like for you?
I just bought one from Ebay, got it in the mail today, and I'm very impressed with it. So glad I bought it!
Enjoy it
Just got my D500. Such a great camera body. I'm getting the 35mm DX tomorrow and I'm excited to see what it does.

Thanks, mate. BTW, your voice is so relaxing it gives me asmr ha!
I had this lens. It's tack sharp, but the bokeh is very busy. I gave mine as a gift to my sister, and am now looking at the Sigma 30 1.4 art dx.
Great video! Would you recommend this lense for birth and newborn photography?
Yes, definitely :)
Recently bought, and it is every bit as good as said. But I also have an 18 105 mm, which has a bigger field of vision.
heading into 2024 thinking of buying this lens for my Nikon D80
Dude, you using the word “vibe” is one of the many reasons I came back.😂. OK, back to the video.
I got it brand new. the picture is so good~

My FX version is my go to lens on my D610. Excellent. Well worth investing in.
Would this fit a nikon d5600
this video is a vibe xD

Yeah man - all good lenses
I have a 50mm 1.8g (FX) for my D610 how does that compare to this 35mm 1.8g (DX)
Much the same I would say - Maybe some more dynamic range with your 50mm on the full frame D610 :)
Bought a new one on auction here in EU for 114 eur, it is great lense.
Just found a load of images on my computer taken with this lens and a D40 - miss that look so much
Liked for the rant about people shelving cameras for smart phones. More of this please
Will do :)

Wait... if it is a DX lens, wont it act as a 35mm lens on a crop (DX) sensor??? O.o
I thought only a 35 F would turn into a 50mm in a crop sensor ^^

FX lenses -
50mm - 75mm, F2.7
35mm - 52.5mm, F2.7

Got a refurb for $35.00 USD
Awesome
It’s a DX, so it’s designed for crop sensor cameras and is still 35mm. No 1.5 crop.
Ok then
I’ve been reading that the sigma 35mm f1.4 Art is way superior then then the Nikon 35 mm
Yeah - it might be, I’ve never used one
"than"
Given the price it had better be way superior to the Nikon.😅
The question is, is the difference in performance worth the difference in prices?
If It is DX, there's no need to multiply x 1.5, that's only with FX lenses.
I think you are wrong, but I might be wrong.
@@DashRendar308 You are correct. Nikon crop sensor always a 1.5 crop regardless of DX/FX lens.
You are mistaken. Both DX/FX on a Nikon crop sensor have a 1.5 crop. DX glass is smaller and cheaper, and that's the only benefit besides pricing.
False.
It's to relate it to full frame terms
Bravo, great video, just bought it $84
Great JOB!!! Enjoy!!!
