    I'm in the process of doing the kitchen counters in my home. I went with a white/grey marble with minimal black and grey veins and some light blue accents to tie into the base cabinets. I made a neat mistake when I did a practice desktop, a dog hair landed in my flood coat, but the colors matched so well that I kept it. I even pulled a hair from a dog we are fostering and laid it in a vein in one of the kitchen pieces. It'll be a nice little keepsake when he moves onto his next home.
    The biggest thing I've learned is to work in a clean area with no air movement. I made that mistake when I did my basement floor and again in some of my practice pieces.

    Awesome. I'm just now getting things together so I can start doing this with my business. I'm a flooring installer . Countertops, showers, exc... I do tile brick flagstone slate granite marble exc... . I was doing a home in Ruston, Louisiana and actually thought I had the countertops as well until I seen some guys come in and start doing them in a white w/ grey veins in it and was amazed and decided right then I was going to learn this. That was a year ago and now I'm finally at my starting point and I e watched several of your videos. Many videos. I really like this one. I like them all but I want to try this one.

    Dear Sir,
    I stumbled upon your video tonight and couldn’t believe what I saw - the exact same glass tile " Night Sky" that I am in love with from HD. I’m currently using it to redo our spare bathroom's shower. I also plan to epoxy my floor over travertine and the countertop for the cabinet sink in the bathroom to match the colors.
    What is the color used to paint the cabinets? It is perfect for the bathroom cabinets.
    Your technique is incredible, and I am so excited to implement it. I will be studying this video a lot and practice on some old pieces of the Travertine that was used on the floor here. Your work is absolutely gorgeous and perfect.
    What a very lucky client you had!! This is one my DIY project for the year, and I am grateful to you for sharing your video. You're amazing, talented and I thank you so much for your inspiration.

    Love the look! The edges are what scares me the most doing this. I have a small table with a pine top but it's inset into a metal frame. Have no idea how I would make the edges look good.

    • @kcdcdesigns
      @kcdcdesigns Месяц назад

      Is the metal edge at the same height as the pine top? If it is, and you're able to round the top edge so the epoxy can flow over, you could "etch" the metal with 60 grit on a grinder and apply bondo to the metal edge (remember, bondo is used on vehicles). You just don't want too much of a build-up of bondo, keeping it less than 1/4" thick. And it wouldn't take much to just add some character to your edges. BTW, bondo would adhere best to bare metal, so try to remove any paint where you'll want bondo.

      Thank you, and you are correct that I did spritz with with 91% isopropyl alcohol. Sorry I omitted that in the video, but good catch!
      On the rock edges, as soon as I put the first epoxy color coat down, I "grease" the edges with epoxy so it will flow over evenly.
      I do have design and fabrication tutorials on my RUclips channel, including how I create my rock edges, if that would help.

    • @kcdcdesigns
      @kcdcdesigns 2 месяца назад

      Thank you, and sorry for the late reply!
      Right after I poured the colors out, I melded, then ran the beard comb through it. I want to do both very early while the epoxy is still very fluid. This way I know it will continue to move and soften, and the lines from the beard comb can soften as well.

      @@kcdcdesigns yes I agree, but it's pretty hard to find ppl who appreciate art, and it's hard to make a living out of only epoxy countertops as your main job.
      Without any social media views or sponsors.

      My epoxy countertop business is my sole source of income, nothing else to rely upon, including sponsors (I have none) and my RUclips channel pays enough to keep gas in my vehicles and that's about it. Maybe someday I'll hit subs in the 6 figures but that's a LOT of work to get there, and the time I spend editing videos the way it is, there's not enough ROI.

      @kcdcdesigns that's great to hear. Success like yours is good to see, gives me hope.
      Btw I love your work and attention to detail it's top tier.
      Do you have an LLC or are you sole proprietorship?
      I'm looking at what route to start with.

      I am a LLC, but there's certainly nothing wrong with starting as Sole Prop until you get established. There's certainly more accounting work involved as a LLC, and that's not my strong point, lol.
      Thank you again for the kind words!!!
