    Top notch. One of the most realistic marble finishes I’ve seen. You’re right about the top coat. Matte is the way to go. Gloss has way too much reflection. It’s hard to get polished finish with epoxy.
    Shows every fish eye divot and every light in the room. I’m going to overly emphasize that matte is the way to go. I’m also going to experiment with both top coats blended when I get enough material on hand

    • @kcdcdesigns
      @kcdcdesigns  3 месяца назад

      Thank you for that, I really appreciate the kind words!
      I agree on the reflection, fingerprints, smudges, etc., that the UTC Gloss shows. Which is probably why at least 80% of our customers choose the UTC Natural finish. And personally I feel it's a much more authentic finish to natural stone.
      Thank you again, and thanks for supporting my channel!!

    This is a real heart-grabber! I see bits that I like then you shift angles and there's another bit I like then you stun me with a full glamor shot and I fall in love with the whole piece. There's just something warm and comforting about the browns, creams, and "desert" colors. Thank you

      Hi Brenda and thank you! On this project and 95% of all projects I use 3 ounces per square foot. As far as total on this project, I don't recall the total square feet, but 3 oz/sf for color coat, 3 oz/sf for flood coat.

    Nice countertop tutorial! That is a pretty finish, how long have you been working with epoxy, do you do this full time? What other projects have you done with it? I'm interested in trying out this technique, do you have any tips for beginners? Thank you!

    • @kcdcdesigns
      @kcdcdesigns  Год назад +1

      Thank you! I first discoverd epoxy through the Stone Coat videos and immediately had to try it and became hooked about 3 1/2 years ago. Within 3 months I poured my first countertop and went full-time within a year. My tips and/or advice for beginners is to watch a ton of Stone Coat and RK3 videos to build confidence.
      Thank you, again for all you do for the epoxy community!!!

    6:51 - how did you do that vein?

    • @kcdcdesigns
      @kcdcdesigns  Год назад +1

      Chris, those veins were created with spray paints sprayed on a tongue depressor. Sorry the video didn't capture more of that, but they're created and manipulated the same as on the Fantasy Marble sample board tutorial. ruclips.net/video/QPDFir1im4Y/видео.html

      I started out by watching a TON of Stone Coat and RK3 Designs RUclips videos. I followed their recipes until I learned different techniques and how to create different designs. I then attended the RK3 Designs Pro Class and that was a game changer for me and my business.
      Thank you for asking, and are you working with epoxy now, or looking to?

    Hi, Keith, what is used to do the wash coat ?

    • @kcdcdesigns
      @kcdcdesigns  Год назад

      For that project I used about 1oz/sf of Stone Coat epoxy and Black Alumilite Dye. I didn't want a heavy wash coat, just enough to "lube" the surface as you can see in the video, and provide some color as well (which is why I used black dye).

    why does it look like there is massive orange peal surface? it looks kind of bad where the light hits it.

    • @kcdcdesigns
      @kcdcdesigns  8 месяцев назад

      The gloss topcoat has an unavoidable orange peel, the natural (matte) does not. Customers are always aware of how the finished product will look, and what to expect. We've yet to find a gloss topcoat that does not have an orange peel appearance, but still offering incredible durability.
