High praise indeed! We are excited for the future as we continue to explore this amazing country - listening to flat six music all the way. As we look to expand - let us know what direction you’d like to see us go in! Also - your Super Thanks is appreciated and will increase our 2024 donations to benefit the regions impacted by Hellene. Cheers!
These videos get me going. I love living in East TN and being in proximity to so many of these roads. The Skyway is my favorite road as well and the arguments of Skyway vs Dragon drive me batty because the Skyway is just sooooooooo good to drive. See yall on the road, -Black M Roadster
Great video! I’m not sure the demographics of your channel, but I know I would be interested in a mini-series covering the best towns to travel to with the highest concentration of good roads/good routes. If I’m anything like the majority of your viewers, visiting these roads would be a dedicated trip that takes a ton of planning (although aided by your map). Covering good towns/areas to stay and highlighting available routes and day trips may be very popular. Keep up the great quality, I’m looking forward to the next one!
We definitely understand that situation as we also have to plan for the trip! Good idea about the best towns and routes. Maybe we can work that in to future videos going forward! Very much appreciate the feedback. Cheers.
Thank you Trueview for introducing such amazing winding roads across the States and have been following your youtube content for a long time. I hope someday, I'll get to experience to drive these roads on my Toyota 86. From Canada.
Love the three pedal - gear rowing for sure. Hope you stick around and check out some of our other stuff too what is your favorite SoCal road? If it isn’t on our map already - we will add it!
@ there aren’t many down here in Orange County but Ortega Hwy Rt. 74 is the best, but you probably already have that. It’s right nd dangerous, but fun. The other is Live Oak Canyon Rd. It’s short but fun and pretty. Lived most of my life in Virginia and used to drive the backcountry there and North Carolina. Hope to get back there someday. Great channel!
I stayed at a place near wayah road, and honestly enjoyed it more than the dragon. Less drama, hype, and traffic. Would hardly call it underrated, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not near the level of technicality of roads like the dragon, but it’s the kind of road you dream about for a good, low stress, spirited drive.
You nailed that description of Wayah. Sounds like a great place to hang while enjoying the amazing roads near by! Definitely thought that NOBO was the better way to go but both are great.
I'm fortunate that I have been able to drive your top 15 on a regular basis. One to consider is TN 68 from Ducktown, TN up to Tellico Plains, TN. It is a nicely paved road, quite a few twisties, but another to drive during the weekdays. Both northbound and southbound are great when the traffic is limited. Worthy of a visit for certain.
I drove GA-348 by complete accident a few months ago. Even in an old and slow base model civic, it was exhilarating to say the least. I will definitely be revisiting soon. Great video 👍
Thanks for that! We are trying to get the word out about what we are doing here. RUclips loves car reviews - but we need the roads to enjoy them! Stay safe out there - cheers.
This is a great summary of some killer back roads, unknowingly I’ve actually driven a couple of these unfortunately not in a good handling vehicle, but being retired might have to return to those and try a few more on this list in my porker car a CTS-V/2, and I’ll make sure my tires are up to the task, thanks
Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you and look forward to seeing the Porker out on the backroads! By the way - that porker has a great exhaust note and a lot of get up and go too! Enjoy and stay safe out there!
Awesome compilation! So many fantastic memories; it’s hard to pick a favorite. I hesitate to even suggest this, but as I think about the Skyway, the one drawback is that it is, on average, a faster road than all the others. So, the speeds are higher and the margin of error is smaller. You need to be moving along at a good clip to really enjoy it. But, man, when it all comes together and you are blasting up through the gears climbing up to the ridgeline, there is no bigger rush. Total focus.
Full agree - the issue with the Skyway is that the same “grip to limit” ratio is much higher risk on a fast road like the Skyway or GA-19. Definitely want to use judgement, stay focused, and enjoy the thrill ahead.
I spend a lot of time in western Carolina, I regularly drive and ride many of these roads. Fortunately there are many more unknown backroads here. Have fun finding them!
That is fortunate indeed! We will see you out there as we enjoy the continued search! Any chance you want to share one of your favorites you didn’t see on our map? The secret is safe with this crew!
We love that road too!!! Maybe we will see that one on a future video and top 10 list. This will probably be updated every now and then as pavement wears out and roads are repaired. Also - we might find some new roads too! Thanks again
just coming on to your channel, love it. I'm from Florida, what would be incredible is some sort of pre-programmed map I can insert in to a mapping app or something that I/we can go drive them all in one multi day trip. Do you have something like that? Or addresses for the start of each segment and then I can plan to string them all together?
Hey there! Welcome aboard. In the channel page you can find a map with all of the locations of our current and future videos. There is also a Google sheet with locations and links to each of the top roads we have reviewed! Check that out and let me know what you think?
We visit Tennessee frequently but haven’t been to Arkansas yet. We do have plans to go there at some point and have marked several roads on our map to explore. Check out the Google Map on the channel page - it shows all of our past drives and future prospects as well.
What do you guys do for camera and audio setups? Windows open or closed, getting rid of road noise, etc. I'm trying to do some of this stuff in my E46 but the stock exhaust means I have to either do windows open to hear the engine at all with a ton of road and wind noise, or go windows up where you can't really hear the engine. I'd also like to toss in a loop near Blacksburg consisting of route 603 on to 622 all the way to Mason Cove, VA, then looping back to BBurg via 311 -> 621/Upper Craigs Creek. It's about an hour and a half round trip, could probably squeeze multiple videos out of it, but a friend recommended it to me after I told him what I was trying to do in my 330i.
First - thanks for the suggestions on the roads near Blacksburg. We will add those to our map of not already on there. Sounds like a great loop. As for audio - you do need the signal to be louder than the noise. Have you considered moving the mic to inside the trunk or putting it in a “dead cat” wind protector. Our mics are in a wind protector and all the way in the back for exhaust note recording. Make sure to tape down the mics and wires perfectly or you will pick those up.
@@trueview3127 The issue I've got with that is that I would need to get a mic for the setup, since after all I am just using my phone. I think I'll try with the phone in the trunk to just get an idea on the audio, so that's good. Maybe I'll try mounting the camera externally, near the back of the car. Best case of course is to just get a mic that I can wire up or bluetooth to.
Highly suggest getting a separate sound recording device and then synching the audio in post. It might be a pain at first but you will thank yourself for learning how to do it!
@@trueview3127 Hey, sorry for replying to an old comment, but I thought it was worth changing up my suggestions for roads. After running some of them with my E46, I wouldn't give any of roads I listed before above an 8/10, but basically any road with a double solid yellow that runs parallel to I-81 in that area will give a good time, there's just a fine line between them being too residential and too empty with poor pavement quality. Not to put the work on you guys, but going on streetview and checking them beforehand is a must, some of these routes get VERY sketchy, especially Upper Craigs Creek, damn near broke a wheel on a pothole there. The ones I can confidently say are a good time would be Bradshaw Road, Catawba Road, Mount Tabor/Newport Road, and North Fork Road. I'd definitely recommend staying away from the more sketchy routes, but I'd assume you guys do that anyways. Good luck and good hunting.

Shh don’t tell people about GA 348! A great drive even in a big car. Honorable mention is Highlands Highway 28 from Walhala, SC to Highlands, NC. In the times that I have been on the road, it has not been populated and additionally, there are some great, more technical sections. It doesn’t seem to be the main way people get to cashiers or Highlands, which makes it sparsely traveled.

Now that is a real compliment since RUclips is high competition in that arena!

Love it! Those two roads are almost the opposite to each other. For sure it makes sense to try them both! See you on the road Mr. Roadster
I almost bought a black M roadster from that area and would have flown out, drove it around there, and then home.

Great footage of these Fantastic Roads! A lot of new footage! WV-33 at the end of the video looks amazing! Why wasn't that one in the top 10?
WV-10 is under construction on the VA side - maybe when they finish it in 2025 it might make the list!
