The empire (with the Tarkin doctrin) did make sense. The empire was "defending" tens of thousands of systems. so it needed a massive amount of fighters. From a defensive stand point, luxuries like a hyperdrive are a waste of space and money. You don't need 96 fighters with hyperdrivers are are going to spend their entire "life" on on planet. So for in system patrols, planet patrols, and such, the TIE fighter was perfect. Cheep and easy to mass produce. Given their size and the area to defend a quantity over quality for fighters seems right. THEN when you add in the capitol ships... the doctrin would dictact, large intimidating battleships... small escorts that would act as fighter carriers for patrol. And small quick to set up space stations to act as sentry posts for large numbers of fighters. The rebels on the other hand couldn't rely on transport ships... they couldn't waste time on docking fighters, so the fighters would need to jump themselves... for that all sorts of extra features like extended life support systems, shields, etc became a necessity.
At the same time though, look at the US... WW2, the M4A1 Sherman tank, short barrel 75mm gun, light armor thats hardly sloped... Average speed. The philosophy though was quantity over quality, things that COULD have been added to make it better, safer, etc... were skipped by choice to keep costs down. The idea being, sure, the tiger will take out 10 of them but 11 and 12 will take out the tiger. And this is the way it worked most of the time, the US would take horrific losses, in some cases 280% casualties. But who cares, wash the tank out with a hose, cut out the part of the plate with a hole in it and weld on a new part, send it out with a new crew. Russia and their T-34 had the same situation. the Big Cats could kill the t-34's easy but there were just so many.
+kitsychan -- At least the T-34 _(stumbled?)_ on to the importance of maneuverability in tank warfare on the eastern front which gave them an advantage over many German tank designs. All the Sherman had going for it was that it could fit on a landing craft. In that same way, the X-wing just struck the right balance of firepower, speed, and suitability (in that order) for the times. It's kind of interesting to watch the new generation of Star Wars concept artists actually try to make incremental refinements than just invent new starfighters. Turns out I actually buy that the TIE fighter was just one redesign away from becoming a formidable attack craft.
To be fair the reason why the sherman was designed the way it was was because they were made in america and had to be shiped across the ocean, so above all else the tank had to be easy to build, easy to repair/ and find replacement parts, and above all else , be easy to upgrade. Once they upgraded from the 75mm to the 76mm the sherman was pretty effective, and armor wise was on par with most medium tanks at the time. The problem was is that again the doctrine was quanity or quality and medium tanks only where germany was forced to focus on quality and outrange tactics and heavy tanks because of the lack of resources.
Actually it wasn't even that. Many parts of the Panzer and Panzer IV Aust F2 were so "over engineered" and over built. A tank who's life expectancy on the battlefield is 6 months, doesn't need gaskets, air filters, and such designed and built to last 25 years. this is why some panzer IV's were in use right up to 1967 with no spare parts available. (and then promptly knocked out with 1 shot by a Centurion with its 105mm)

Luke's poor X-wing. Left at the bottom of an ocean (shallow, but still) and now without an owner. Maybe Poe will pick it up. It's not like he has one anymore.
Dunno about that.. Luke's a great mechanic. was doing that and very good at it well before he knew what the Force was. Provided he could fix it just do what he did on Dagobah and pull it up out the water. In the latest movie so of course it should'nt be hard to do at all now
Even longer under the right circumstances. 1:30 is usually when you lose conciseness. It is actually recommended for astronauts to open their helmets and vent them to get water out incase of a leakage and the possible failure of countermeasures.
You don't actually freeze for a long time. There is no air in space, so you are very well insulated by the vacuum. You can only loose temperature by radiating. Your body will be warm for a long time after you died. That is also why astronauts NEED cooling. You would die heat death pretty fast in the thick insulated suits as heat would accumulate rapidly.
I liked the StealthX from the Legends Canon. For those who don't know, it was a Jedi-exclusive X-Wing in Luke's new Jedi Order about 40 years after A New Hope. It was all black with occasional lighter spots to resemble stars, so when it flew through space, it was nearly invisible, and had a lot of other stealth technology to make it almost impossible to find. It wouldn't use radio to contact other ships, which is why only Jedi could fly it; they used the Force to sense, communicate, and not crash into each other. It used special proton torpedoes called Shadow Bombs that had the targeting systems removed and replaced with more explosives, and the Jedi would have to use the Force to steer them, like how Luke destroyed the Death Star. The Jedi fleet of StealthX's could swoop in and destroy capital ships, and no one watching would even be able to tell why the larger ship had just exploded seemingly at random. They were badass.
God, what wasted potential. Disney fucked up by not looking to the extended universe. Would have been awesome to see that in the new series... along with better characters, of course.
Wedge and Tycho Celchu flew StealthX's to rescue Wedge's daughter and the new Wraith Squadron during the events of Mercy Kill, (at least I think they were StealthXs)
I mean I like the stealthx, but I love the XJ with circular engines. Mostly because I don’t have to mod my lego x wing, and I feel like Luke could’ve just modified his ship into an XJ. XJ3 with the blocky engines are cool, but I really don’t like the engine.
6:13 just noticed the cannon can turn and "rotate" to face different ways, but is not a "rotary cannon" in the normal sense. Awesome and informative video (and ARC-170s are awesome)
Grand Moff Tarkin not really those star destroyers are capital ship stompers. They could easily put down Venators. They're better off making something like a Harrower or Newer Mon Cala dreadnoughts.
Here's another Mon Calamari vs Venator Star Destroyers debate again. In short, the Venator have less but vastly more powerful armament than the Mon Calamaris, on the other hand the Venators can divert the power source from the extra internal batteries to it's weapons and shield projectors, other than that the Venators also have superior digital fire control system and the speed of the Venator is faster than Mon Calamari. Harrower Star Destroyer, that one belongs to legends.(sadly)

You can do the evolution of the Jedi. From highly trained, highly skilled Force wielding warrior, to crash course farm boy, to not needing any training at all!!!
Isn't Luke (in legends) constantly doubting himself and his ability to teach since he had such brief training? He is never said to be better or even equal ro the Jedi of old. Vader (most likely the strongest force user he ever defeated, is a shadow of his former self, limited by his robotic body and by Palpatine's fear of being betrayed.

Getting spaced causes multiple forms of potentially fatal injuries. Decompression, Exposure (cold and/or radiation,) and Asphyxiation. Asphyxiation takes time. Closing your eyes and expelling all the breath that you can would help a little against the sudden decompression. Freezing takes time, and depending on the levels of radiation where a person was spaced, even that could have very little ability to do damage. Add The Force into the equation and there would be a chance to survive, but some advanced medical care and a healing trance would be needed to repair the damage.
The x-wing should not have been in TFA and TLJ. So weird that they are still in use after 30 years when so much had changed between 19 BBy and battle of Yavin
The X-Wing was an extremely efficient design, so it was kept in use. The USAF F-15 Eagle has been around since 1975 with upgrades along the way. Same with the A-10 Warthog from the late 1970's, and the B-52 Stratofortress from the 1950's!
If we were sucked out into the remote vacuum of space it would take us a minute to die and Princess Leia probably put a bubble of remaining oxygen around her
I've heard that it takes 20 minutes. Look at the NASA space suit failures in the 50s and you can see that as long as a person is returned to an oxygen atmosphere within 5-20 minutes they will survive if exposed to a vacuum like space.
Only if you make the mistake of holding your breath. If you let the air leave your lungs you go unconscious in 15 seconds but if you are returned to an oxygen environment within that 5-20 minute range you will make a full recovery in most cases. You also won't freeze because there are few atoms in space to transfer the heat away from you.
Will you be going back over the T-85 now that we know lots more about it? It's been in the show Resistance and several comics, I'd love to hear you cover it, you're thorough.
Steven Anchundia hope so I fell in love with the t70 and can't wait to se the next iteration of the x wing. Maybe it will have a blade wing composite beam.OP yes, but still a pretty cool improvement.
Stakuga The Undying no that was a t70 as well. I think because people started say poes fighter was a 85 there was a rumour the one at the begining of tfa was one, but there was confirmation we haven't seen the 85 by one of the guys that handle canon, can't remeber his name.
They're only written about in the Novels as of now. Supposedly they're even more efficient than the T-70 especially in the speed department but I don't think it will look much different than the T-70.
I'm curious to see if they will incorporate some of the weirder changes from the Rogue Squadron books like the underbelly Ion Cannon or the 6-wing foil design.
Shame you didn't mention the Legends E-Wing, the fighter FreiTek intended to be the replacement for the T-65 X-Wing. Instead every advancement the E-Wing made would be adapted into the next generation of X-Wing models, the XJ series which included the popular XJ-3 X-Wing and the Jedi-specialized StealthX.
I've got to say, I love this channel and the work you guys do! And this was by far the most I've laughed watching a video in a long time. Thanks for all you're doing and Happy New Year! #humanityfirst
These are the "canon" versions of the Z-95, but as originally described in Brian Daley's novel, Han Solo at Stars End, they looked more like space going F-14 Tomcats. Twin engines, twin tailed, with variable geometry wings. And three blaster cannons in each wing root. I would love to see THOSE in a battle, but the short range of the guns would limit their survivability. But as Han shows in the novel, it's the pilot, not the ship that makes the difference.
The T-70 X-wing is the best design! Not only is it faster and more agile than the T-65, but it also has rear defense in the form of the underslung cannon. This means that a pilot in this baby would have survived the Death Star Trench Run. The only thing that the T-85 has over the T-70 is greater speed and it is more expensive. I would definitely get a T-70 X-wing as my personal starfighter.
0:40 Actually research has shown that the human body can survive up to a few minutes in the vacuum of space, depending on how close you are to a star or some other source of radiation. It would still have negative effects, but you could survive it.
I wish there was a series of toys or collectibles that had ALL the main fighters from the eras. Arc-170, Vulture Droid, T65B X-Wing, TIE/IN Fighter, T70 X-Wing, TIE/FO Fighter
I have found faults in many scale models in the engine's exhaust outlets, many of them make the same length measurement, when in the movie if you look in detail you can see that the two lower outputs are shorter, I have a Micromachines Action fleet model that respects this, but not new models such as Hasbro and other brands, I do not know why this error is noticed by the naked eye.
In the TLJ novelization, while they’re on Crait preparing for the FO, Poe says he ordered a squadron of T-85 Stealth X-Wings but they must have been held up in transit, it’s not clear if the entire statement is a joke (Nien Numb laughs) but I think we’ll see them in IX and I think they’ll be stealthed based on this

big7588 Thank you! Someone else who actually gets it!
It's not like Lea went and shepered on us.
Thanks for the vid. It's increasingly harder to be a real Star Wars fan these days, with all the Disnification going on.
Legends FTW
Do I sense some frustration with disney canon coming from Gen Tech?! lol
Love all 4 of them! If I had to choose, I love the ARC170 just a little more cause it reminds me of the A10
+Tyler Donohue wow I don’t know how I missed that but you’re totally right
Hey you forgot the X-83 Twintail!
RobloxianCuber I think he is talking about canon.
And e-wing
AND the XJ series!
And the Stealth-X
Love you guys, keep up the good work. May The Force Be With You Always. .
The x-wing should not have been in TFA and TLJ. So weird that they are still in use after 30 years when so much had changed between 19 BBy and battle of Yavin
Agreed, they should've been using whatever its successor should've been maybe a canon K Wing or something.
The successor was the E-Wing in legends but it wasn't a full successor as the X-Wings just simply got upgraded and could do better than the E-Wing.
If I remember correctly in Legends, the XJ class of X-Wings were outstanding, at least before/during the Yuuzhan Vong War.
The X-Wing was an extremely efficient design, so it was kept in use. The USAF F-15 Eagle has been around since 1975 with upgrades along the way. Same with the A-10 Warthog from the late 1970's, and the B-52 Stratofortress from the 1950's!
Thank you for continuing making these videos. They're fun 😊
Here before 1k views
JDGame Z What... 4 hours ago and this was uploaded 30 mins ago.
yeah wt
JDGame Z How did you come here before it was uploaded??
Love your choice of background music.
Is that Mozart or Bach in the background?
Dang Alan you are so funny. I love the humor you throw into these
Keep up the good work!
Walker Weathers so it takes a long time we are both right because he said it would be a immediate death
yes, we're both correct
GAC- Berry no the lack of pressure wil kill you in 30 seconds or so
Only if you make the mistake of holding your breath. If you let the air leave your lungs you go unconscious in 15 seconds but if you are returned to an oxygen environment within that 5-20 minute range you will make a full recovery in most cases. You also won't freeze because there are few atoms in space to transfer the heat away from you.
I am enjoying these higher-quality videos are much better than the usual click-bait ones.
You forgot an old Republic fighter, the liberator/talon class.
DeltaWolf1000 the Old Republic is non-canon.
Mutants and Inhumans Fanboy Legends>"canon"
Your point? He used the Old Republic troopers in the stormtrooper video.
DeltaWolf1000 The Old Republic is still non-canon so he won't
Mutants and Inhumans Fanboy wut? You trippin’
Will you be going back over the T-85 now that we know lots more about it? It's been in the show Resistance and several comics, I'd love to hear you cover it, you're thorough.
Whos watching before 200 viwes and 10 000 comment

Great video brother have a safe and awesome night! God bless!
Are we ever going to see the T-85 X-wing
Steven Anchundia hope so I fell in love with the t70 and can't wait to se the next iteration of the x wing. Maybe it will have a blade wing composite beam.OP yes, but still a pretty cool improvement.
Steven Anchundia We did it was in the beginning of TFA from what I heard
I love the Vivaldi in the background of your vids
Even in a future that somehow looks like the 1970's, one fact is universal. Money Talks.
Curien247 its not a future, it happened a long time ago
Shame you didn't mention the Legends E-Wing, the fighter FreiTek intended to be the replacement for the T-65 X-Wing. Instead every advancement the E-Wing made would be adapted into the next generation of X-Wing models, the XJ series which included the popular XJ-3 X-Wing and the Jedi-specialized StealthX.
I'll join your x wing army🤣
The A-Wing is really wild and I like so much the Y-Wing
202 views and 406 likes 🤨 something fishy here 😂
Really enjoying these evolution videos! Keep up the good work.
Any modern fighter jets will win any era Xwings in any atmosphere sky battles! Because common sense!
yup i learn from my ballin dadd
What?
?
i learn from my ballin dadd
my dad is in the air force so i see a lot of planes and jets aand their power
I've got to say, I love this channel and the work you guys do! And this was by far the most I've laughed watching a video in a long time.
Thanks for all you're doing and Happy New Year! #humanityfirst
What about Z-95 Headhunter
Luke Skywalker it was the first ship he talked about
The Virtual Troopa sorry, i didn't hear it
...
The Z-95 first appears in the Thrawn Trilogy in a conversation _specifically about how obsolete they are._
'nuff said.
The T70 is my fave
Love the Series, keep up the awesome work!
"As you know, if you put "Aggressive" in the name, it automatically becomes more powerful."
Datz sum gud ork thinkin', humie!
You had me @ "Princess Mary Poppins.."
I take the T-70 X-Wing as a light fighter... With alot of weapons...
And we really need to see The New Republic in Episode 9...
Favorite Star Wars channel 😂
Vacuum of space doesn’t kill you straight away anyway
I like the sarcastic overtone !
like the 4 seasons in the background :D
The spitfire of the Star Wars universe 👍🏻
"All three of them enjoyed different temperatures when eating there porridge" I couldn't stop laughing
Takes me a long to watch these as I have to rewind so much of it after laughing.
I’m seeing the last Jedi next week very excited maybe I will see new resistance models with new paint
I love generation tech!!

Actually research has shown that the human body can survive up to a few minutes in the vacuum of space, depending on how close you are to a star or some other source of radiation. It would still have negative effects, but you could survive it.
7:12 to 7:26 is the most important message in this whole video. Reflect on it kids.
I got x-wing games and a power f2f x-wing too!!!!! It's my favorite star fighter of all time
I like them all but the Clone War version of the Z-95 Head Hunter is my favorite!
Keep having polls on your vids they’re a lot of fun.
I wish there was a series of toys or collectibles that had ALL the main fighters from the eras. Arc-170, Vulture Droid, T65B X-Wing, TIE/IN Fighter, T70 X-Wing, TIE/FO Fighter
Hot Wheels did have all of them but for some reasonnthe Arc-170 is like nowhere to be found or is super rare and expensive......odd
I like the look of the T-65 X-Wings. The placement of the S-Foil split on the T-70 kinda bugs me. Just an Aesthetic thing.
OMG I know I’m late seeing this video but that Mary Poppins got me! 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
