The speaker situation is exactly my opinion on the S22 Ultra vs my old S9+ as well. The S22 Ultra has such a thin sound while my S9+ sounds meaty and rich. And I've tried different settings, doesn't come close. I also did HDR comparison in-between them both with everything cranked and I honestly preferred my S9+. S22 Ultra might have slightly more realistic colors, but my S9+ had more punch overall. And the fact that S9+ have both SD expansion, 3.5mm jack and a way better formfactor makes me want to keep my S9+ and send back the S22 Ultra. I replaced the battery last year since that was the only fault with my S9+. Sure S22 Ultra is a good phone in itself. But it definitely didn't feel lika a $1500 improvement. Biggest difference is the 120hz screen and the camera system. But I rarely take images so it's not worth it either in that regard. I much prefer the better sound and size while I relax in my bed watching RUclips 😄. Maybe the S21 Ultra would have been a better replacement. Oh well my S9+ gets to stick around for a couple more years 😁.
S9 and S9+ is already a legend. My wife still uses the S9 Japanese Snapdragon version.
Nearly the same with my situation. I have an s10 and battery is a mess. Then I bought the s22 plus, and the Sound (except on 100%) sounds warmer and more voluminous on the s10, that's crazy to think about. And I barely recognize the vibration on the S22 plus, no problem on the S10.
I have s9 plus same like 3.5 years and preorder this s22 ultra wait for him 1 month and for couple of days he come, when i read this coments i rly dispoinment did i do right thing, s22 ultra must be better than 3.5 years phone i hope but i agree with you s9 plus is still perfect phone and i never have any bug or any problem with him. Batery is now problem and this is only reson why i come to new phone. Only 4 hours SOC is not enought for me 😂 but he still very fast and very good camera, evrything perfect...
@@marex337 it seems that the s21 ultra is the way to go, in more terms better and more stable then the S22 ultra
@@thejohnson2328 year latter this s22 ultra will be way better then s21 ultra. They are close just now after years he will be perfect. Samsung always do that in early release phone after couple updates he become what he need to be. I have evry s from s4 and always is same situation...
That's the deep dive tests that other channels lack! Great stuff, VST!
Thanks to SystemHacks that makes possible the comparisons with S21 Ultra!
🙌
Thank you for this wonderful test of vibration. Very few people has done like this.
Thank you Sayantan!
The sound also better in s21 ultra 🥳🥳🥳
Thank you! First one to do this!
How is the vibration in your pockets? Did you miss notifications? Seen many users complaining, please reply. Thank you!
Settings > sound and vibrations > sound quality and effects = from there you can change how loud the sound is and the bass.
The s22 ultra really lags in sound
@@Schooges it does. I have a xiaomi Mi 11 and it destroys the sound of the s22 ultra. Good thing Samsung gives us ear buds lol but imo any other aspect the s22u is superior and I much prefer it over any other phone I've ever had (inc iPhone).
@@Rinnara21 u right but 1600€ for a downgrade that's not a thing I mean its not the way to go you know its nice in some ways but its not worth it I just got my self now the Note 20 Ultra Again but whit 512gb and 16gb ram the sound mann no phone do it ass God as the note 20 ultra
@@Schooges you're right.
@@Schooges ---turn off dolby
quick correction: the vibration intensity doesn't depend on design, it depends on the vibration motor type, s22's is X axis and s21's is Z axis which gives a stronger loud clicky noise.
Correct, tnx.
Just an observation. If you put the S22 on one notch above half volume ( or below ) There is significantly more bass. I used an app called Equalizer to boost the levels at this volume and did a slight EQ and the speaker performance is definitely on par with, if not better than the S21 and Note 20 Ultra. It makes me wonder, why Samsung didn't tune the speakers better. Perhaps an update could come?
could you elaborate pls?
have the speakers improved over time?
What you are saying is true I noticed when I have the s20 next to my s22 . The vibration on the S22 Ultra is a little softer and the sound is not as rich, it is like you said a little thinner. I'm OK with that , I mean that's how it is, period. Very good testing and very honesty done video. But I have to say that I'm its not really bad and I'm happy with the S22 Ultra I also noticed that it looks like it is using more ram memory than the S20 Ultra, but that is something for you Mr to check and coment because I'm just a user and you have more experience with all this stuff. I will appreciate if you can coment on the S22 ram memory usage and your opinion on this. Thank you.
In a way the more ram usage the better. It doesn't cost the phone any power to keep things stored in ram and if the phone needs more ram all it does is close things currently in it. I used to things high ram usuage was bad as well but for the most part it's good for the os to try to use more ram as long as the ram can be cleared up when needed
@@zippysquirrel-zv1ov thanks!
Unused ram is wasted ram.@pedromarrero
The vibration motor on the S21u is on the z axis, while on the S22u it is on the x axis. That's why when placed on the table you hear it louder, but in the hand it has a better vibration response.
It is a more accurate vibration motor, so it can sync with ringtone or music.
Also, the vibration motor on the S21u is at the top, while on the S22u it is at the bottom, mounted inside the speaker.
Do you personally own the s22? If you do how do everyday haptics feel?
@@zippysquirrel-zv1ov I have and it feels amazing. So much better that the S21 vibration feels like a toy. I own both.
@@Lucmercurius thank you!!
@@Lucmercurius As the S21 has the coin shaped rather the squared ones in the S21+ and Ultra model. Maybe so the difference stands out more
S20 ultra and note 20 ultra has a really strong vibration motor and it's placed down side.
Fantastic video ☺️
Vibration in s21 ultra is in the z-axis and in the s22 ultra is in the x-axis .
Larger battery and the s-pen are reasons to lower performance .
It's better or worse it depends like you can tune the X axis to your liking with software to act as you desire. Less likely for z axis, the strong and harsh one
I started using my S21U as a daily driver now and it's really better for me
Doe's that means do i have to return my s22 ultra back to samsung ? because of the sound .
Please if you can do display comparison as well specially in HDR 4k youtube content and max brightness outdoor and in door
Cause if display also like speaker so s22 ultra is totally downgrade not upgrade
And really thank you for your effort
The fuq is wrong with s22 ultra, half the stuff completely downgraded!
🥹 Well it's like that, I d expected also if not better then at least same quality...
I'm not trading my s21 ultra for the s22 ultra I'm good s22 ultra is such a downgrade, display is better on the s21 ultra, speakers is better on the s21 ultra, battery is better then s22 ultra, display resolution is better on the s21 ultra, the design is better then the s22 ultra, I like the camera is better on the s21 ultra only difference is a built in pen slot lol I can use a pen on my phone 2 keeping my s21 ultra, they made s22 ultra suck ass this year
As much as I want the s22 ultra I kind of want to try a different manufacturer to see if I like it better since I've been with Samsung a long time now
amazing ...
Samsung really messed it up this year.
Only the camera, design and display are better this year.
Performance isn't up by much really, charging speed isn't special, base config has just 8GB ram, max storage just 12GB instead of last year's 16GB.
Batterylife is worse and the speakers are trash compared to the S21U.
Not a solid upgrade at all.
Seems like that, honestly I don't need/want the S pen, would have opted for better sound.
The vibration 📳 could be still okay though not so strong. Tried to capture this in the video.
@@VelianSpeaksTech sound for me is much more important than haptic feedback. Don't care much about vibration.
Just dissapointed that Samsung seems to lose more features every year or downgrade them.
Calling a device Ultra and starts at budget to midrange 8GB of ram, it's insane ... Same with the budget level 128GB storage.
Design is something that depends on ur taste
And I don't like the sharp corners that make the phone uncomfortable
camera design isn't unique on s22 and is just regular
But S21 camera design was perfect
Thanks for your work..
Thank you Khalid
On a scale of 1-10 (1 is no bass and 10 is the best bass you've heard on a phone) what would you rate the s22 ultra? And can you rate the same thing for sound quality and loudness? Very apritated!!
6
comparing to note 20, I would give S22 4 for bass score.
Really disappointing .
Thank you for your video, what I've heard the speaker had to downgrade to keep the battery size
Because of the S pen being there? Could be...
@@VelianSpeaksTech the combination
Where did you hear that?
Yep , my s22 ultra is a huge disappointment in the vibration motor and speaker department 😭🤬👎
wow that's because the s-pen is taking valuable space inside
Here's hoping that for the next year's S23 Ultra, Samsung will have a new kind of vibration motor that is better than both the S21 Ultra and S22 Ultra, and giving you options to change the intensity of the vibration motor. You can make it as quiet as the S22 Ultra, or you can make it loud as the S21 Ultra.
Well let`s see, the S22U is quite OK for me, who knows what they will come with next...
My observations with vibrations is that Samsung cheaps out on them.
The Stamdard S series seem to use the same vibration motor they've been using fir years.
The uktra uses a mitor similar to the taptic engine used in iphones
And cheaper samsung phones recycke motors from other devices. I have a galaxy s21 fe and the vibration motor is straight from the galaxy watch, tthey sound identical
s22u speaker and vibrations improved after latest updates?
when playing music the sound comes from bottom or through ear speaker also ? it has two speaker (stereo) or only bottom speaker ,please tell.
Stereo
And the s22 plus model did they downgrade the speakers also?
Seams like I just compared the note 20 ultra against the s22 ultra the Note 20 ultra just dusting the s22 and I just paid 1650€ for a speaker unit downgrade I realy can't believe it
Why you didn't turn off the keyboard sounds? 7:12
Should I make a video on it?
Yes, why not!
Lol, you haven't heard a tractor vibration. I still have nightmares of my Galaxy S3 vibrating. Seriously though it's insane how much weaker vibration has become. Why I have no idea. But I'd guess that in order for you easier to miss calls and notifications and force you to buy their watches, braclets and other shit
I have like a low zzzzz sound come from the upper speaker between 120% and 150% volume power but this not happened in all media it happens only some media I think in frequencies between 300 kHz and 500 kHz you can hear the zzzzz sound clearly if you play a song called ( ykwim? ) in Spotify premium as it has alot if low and mid frequencies but in this video in 150% volume power the sound was so great .... any one has this problem like me ??
had the note 9 before , that was like the s21, loud vibration that rattled a wooden table, s22 dull, but its bee said, s21 has a Z axis, speaker type, s22 ditched that in favor of X axis for who knows what
By looking teardown video we can clearly see the speaker unit are smaller than s21ultra if compared side by side
Yep. It could very because of the S pen
@@VelianSpeaksTech haaaa..spen silo really take big space
tbh i liked more of the s22 vibration it feels more normal and not annoying if i am on meeting or in quiet places I wouldn't like my phone to vibrate too loud i know if you kept the phone away and want to hear it you wouldn't keep it on vibration you would like hear the ringtone people says its a downgrade but it feels like a big improvement and upgrade
I get your point but for me is a bit different,
As long as you have the intensity level you can always turn it down if is to powerful. Some people prefer it powerful some less powerful that's why you got the level for it but now you are stuck with very low only.
@@twissey1817 Right
Whats the point of a weak motor? Just turn down the intensity of you're bothered
Please redo this now that there's dolby atmos
Man, I was thinking that my S21 Ultra has poor vibro because when it's in rugged case, I can barely hear incoming call. But S22U... what's that.
Great video as usual really i am so disappointed about the speaker ,
vibration I think okay to not be loud just vibrate in silent mode make sense
For the speaker do you think it's hardware or software issue cause some unit in s21 ultra pre-order time had the same issue last year and it fix or replaced
Most are facing the same about the speakers, maybe it's hardware. Internal placing of speakers might have led to lower Quality i guess.
How was it fixed last year? Software or hardware?
@Oscar Lachapel
It fixed in my unit with just adjusting the custom Equalizer and turning on Dolby atmos means its software
@@walidadel6882 so if you put the EQ in Normal it sounds bad ?
@Oscar Lachapel not bad but not rich sound so adjusting the equalizer on S22 ultra gives you better sound even better than S21 ultra
I have the s22 ultra and I hate how the vibration motor is so weak. Just my preference
I like S21 ultra
In the s22 ultra teardown he pointed out cotton on the spkrs why idk👎🏾
S23 Ultra vs S22 Ultra please
can you feel the s23 ultra vibrate in your pocket when walking?
Yes...bit more than s22u
Hi bro but the s21 and s21 plus don't do that
Buy a digital meter
S20/ note20 ultra has better haptic than s21 ultra.
agreed
The S22 Ultra Vibration fails in comparison to the Note 20 Ultra.
S22 ultra sounds worse than my oneplus nord 2😐 vibration is also much crisper on oneplus. Money wasted
Oh wow….what is the problem with the s 22 ultra …weak bass ? Or highs ??? Mids ???
The Note 20 Ultra Speakers are much louder then the S22 Ultra Speakers.
Bluetooth audio is awful... may go back to S9+
:(
@@VelianSpeaksTech One Samsung Tech said its a known issue and the phone has to be replaced, another said it was known but a software fix was coming. 🤔
I feel if you're going to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack, the Bluetooth better be on point...
Tnx for the tip I need to test that
@@VelianSpeaksTech That would be awesome, I'll keep an eye out for your findings if you do. To note, my S22 Utra is the Snapdragon variant, if that ends up making any difference.
Hahahahahah you are getting it wrong bro they changed the vibration motor to feel very good in hand but it sacrifice loudness
Thats why I don't like small RUclipsrs they just mislead
