My s21 ultra zoomed in quite a bit more and better than my s22 ultra. My s22 ultra will focus closer than my s21 ultra. My s22 does stable better. All around I think my S21 was a better camera and took better pictures. Day or night.
Hardware/specs is fine, but I believe it really comes down to software optimization in the long run. Given the S21 track record with its performance to update ratio, I expect the s22 series to be incredible post 4 months in

I just "upgraded" to the s22 ultra from s21 ultra and I am disappointed with it. The s22 ultra at night looks terrible compared to the s21 ultra at times. I always get a fisheye effect around the edges which are always blurry and always needs to be cropped because of it. I do not get that soft edges on the s21 ultra. Also battery lasts half a day compared to my 1 year old s21 ultra which lasts all day sometimes from 6am to 12am I still have around 20% battery life and my s22 ultra dies around 6pm. I am returning the phone and keeping my s21U.
I am ALSO returning my s22U.... The s22 ultra camera is terrible. Bought it and started taking photos side by side... WOW what a huge disappointment. The photos are CONSIDERABLY better on the s21. The poor photo quality is best observed with either a.) up close macro shot, or b.) zoomed in between 15x to 100x. Everything has a blur to it.
Yeah I just upgraded and did some side by side photos and it looks like the software got better, because it's pretty much exactly the same as my s21 photos maybe a little bit better now, especially with zoom shots.
Please. do not upgrade your phone every year, you are not going to notice a difference. at least you need to wait 2-3 years till you start thinking about the upgrade.
@@frantotti9754 only reason I upgrade is for the value, if I would have kept my s21 ultra it wouldn't be worth much bext year, I upgraded and only paid $160 difference.
Zero reasons to upgrade...all of above can be tweeked via software (only lens flare can't), question is...does samsung want's it?. If RAW sensor is unlocked for 3'rd party apps all those small things can be tweeked trought Gcam.
I think these guys are all paid to say positive things about the S22ultra ....i guess we have to wait for some honest reviewers coz for real i don't think there is much difference between the s21ultra and S22ultra

@@psahd92 No bro there is no lag or stutter infact it has been working as smooth as was launched. It is advisable to go with S21U as the cameras are better compare to pixel also the chip exynos 2100 is far more powerful than pixel tensar chip which also made by samsung for couple of more years to come. You can go with it without any doubt.

I mean, seing this I just decided to go for the iphone 13 pro max trading in my s10 for $800 and keeping my s21U which is great and not too different at the end. S22U is great but not so different than the 21, and the older is more comfortable in the hand .
The new s22 ultrais crap compared to the s21 ultra. I have both and my s21 is way better. They really messed up the quality with the over sharpening. Atleast you can use de noise for noise but you can't take out overly sharpened objects. The warming also makes things that are off white or yellow like a orange color. In my opinion if you bought the s21 ultra and your looking to upgrade wait until next year. Wait for the fix from this current phone. Save your money and enjoy your s21 ultra :)
Both look good. 22 should be better but daytime photos look better on 21. 22 is not that much better at night. Much prefer the shape of the 21 as the 22 is far too square to hold for a long time... I am totaly torn. s22 £1200 or renewed 21 for £600... really. 21 seems like a bargain,
I have tested today S22 Ultra (exynos) with my S21+ (exynos) with the daylight photos with sunny weather. I have impression that s21+ is taking sharper photos in every and each shoot on basic, standard camera mode and main lens. I dont think it is correct and I think future software updates should fix it.
Ultra sensor are bigger and lens are too bright, pruduces a shalow focus area that means its more dificult to have a "Sharp" photo. Thats why s21+ camera are sharper. I've had s21fe and ultra at same time, and indeed s21fe photos are sharper, but certainly not better.

This is kinda bad. They just use oversharpening to make the photos look more high res but it give so much glitches. On my oppo find x3 pro i take photos and sometimes edit them on the phone and add sharpness. If i do that too much i get the same halos and glows on things as on photos on the s22 ultra! Not good at all. When do do not use oversharpening, the photos would maybe be alsmost the same as the s21 so they try to hide that
For me S21 Ultra is way much better than the S22 Ultra. S21 Ultra is much more natural looking, the sharpening is normal not exagerated like in the S22 ultra, the shadow details is really a shadow looking not processed shadow. Samsung brings back the exagerated hdr effect of the S20 series which specially when taking selfies brings the dark shade of the details like when you have eyebags it emphasize it that makes you look like a zombie in a horror movie. I think S22 Ultra is a downgrade without the new chipset and S pen. It even copy the design of their ENTRY LEVEL phone last year the Galaxy A32 i think their twins, stick with the S21 Ultra its way much better and gonna save you some money.
Like he said... it's all about software processing at the end of the day... same hardware... same brand... better images of s22 ultra is because of software processing... samsung should provide the same in s21 ultra too... after all not everyone would just throw away s21 ultra to buy s22 ultra... for same piece of camera hardware atleast...
Can someone please tell me how this is possible that not ONE tech reviewer has tested autoframes on nightvideo s22 ultra ? I will be impressed when samsung can match iphone 11 pro max video quality, especially 4k 60fps, i hope the s23 ultra can match at least 3 year old iphone on video quality, im not critizing samsung, but iphone just kills it with the video, and samsung is just okey, they focusing to much on regular photos and nightmodes and zoom.
I sincerely hope that Samsung will fix this problem of HDR and overexposure, the S21 Ultra is so good in this field, it would be going back to the days of the S8, S10 not to fix this problem.

I returned my S22 Ultra since it appears that on the S22 front facing video in portrait video, they got rid of the wide angle. So I am keeping my S21 Ultra because it goes to wide screen on S21 Ultra on front facing in Portrait mode. Can anyone tell me if I am missing something? I already returned my S22 but would by again if I CAN film video in wide screen on the S22 Ultra front facing in PORTRAIT MODE!
Just check and the s22u cannot change the angle of the shot in Portrait mode. but you can still crop the video to the wide screen aspect ratio in post.

Cameras aren't really new tho. S21 ultra camera is still gonna be comparative for a while. Always use exposure comp with Samsung makes the pics look better and also lowers the iso.

MAJOR BUMMER. You can post process a lot of things but you cannot post process that balcony back into sharpness. Will Samsung fix this in a software upgrade? I sure hope so. Thanks for the heads up, great job on the camera comparison.
That s22 ultra perform well and where it failed definitely samsung will fixed that by software updates. BTW this is too early to say that s22 ultra's camera is not perfect after some updates u will definitely change ur decision.
Great review! My S21 with stabilization on the video pans are horrible and unusable with all kinds of jump and stutter. How are video stabilized pans with the S22?
So, barely an improvement, a bit better 3x and 10x cameras, and better stabilization, as well as some grading changes in video. Not worth upgrading from S21 Ultra. Gotta wait a few generations.
Good phones but sometimes you want to photo what your eyes can see. I don't care warmest sharper but true colour. I have s21u and night mode is is almost like a dawn not night. I see s22u even more brighter photos. Really i don't now if is good that.
S22 shot of Wind surfer at 7:13 looks almost like a CPL filter in that the water reflections are almost completely damped. Lens coatings? Whatever it is, it is spectacular!
It completely ruined that image. Too smooth and un-natural. Their going to need that as a fix. Atleast with the s21 you get the waters detail and can use a app to smooth. S22 you can't add the detail and your only left with overly smooth. Hopefully next year's model is corrected.

All these differences can be easily fixed in s21 ultra by providing camera software update. So Frankly speaking, there is really no huge difference between two phones. Only s pen is added
Not really. You can clearly see how much better quality in the physical material of the lenses are on the S22 Ultra's tele cameras. The colors of the S21's 3x and 10x zoom are all washed out, bokeh looks mushy, shadow areas are murky and bright spots have so much aberration. I've been using both phones and I say the tele lenses of the S22 Ultra is wayy better when it comes to the final image quality: sharpness, colors, bokeh rendering, OIS and contrast. Everything is so much better.
@@thisiscuvo that's great, man, but what about the most popular lens- the wide lens? S21U regularly beats it in daytime scenario. S22U sometimes makes edges of the photo blurry because of the wider 23 mm lens compared to 24 mm on s21u.
What bothers me about these comparisons is that almost NO ONE is upgrading year to year. These comparisons should be with the Note 20 Ultra or the S20 etc.
Not much of a difference across the board, and I don't prioritize shooting at night. I assume that future updates will increase the effectiveness of the already effective S21 Ultra. No need for me to update to the S22 at this time.

They dont fix shit in software they release a new phone. Which again hopefully will be better and will have issues and then they will try and correct those and so on
It is the same lens just third gen with minor updates, a bit like the SD888 and SDX888+, not really new gen just update. I think since it came out things have moved on and maybe next year Samsung will use an all new and improved lens.

The display on the s21 are actually better and ppi (Pixels per inch) are more on the screen. That might be the reason why

Cameras aren't really new tho. S21 ultra camera is still gonna be comparative for a while. Always use exposure comp with Samsung makes the pics look better and also lowers the iso.

MAJOR BUMMER. You can post process a lot of things but you cannot post process that balcony back into sharpness. Will Samsung fix this in a software upgrade? I sure hope so. Thanks for the heads up, great job on the camera comparison.
That s22 ultra perform well and where it failed definitely samsung will fixed that by software updates. BTW this is too early to say that s22 ultra's camera is not perfect after some updates u will definitely change ur decision.
Great review! My S21 with stabilization on the video pans are horrible and unusable with all kinds of jump and stutter. How are video stabilized pans with the S22?
It's weird how as far as sharpness goes the S21 ultra is better it's also on top in battery life

So, barely an improvement, a bit better 3x and 10x cameras, and better stabilization, as well as some grading changes in video.
Not worth upgrading from S21 Ultra. Gotta wait a few generations.
Good phones but sometimes you want to photo what your eyes can see. I don't care warmest sharper but true colour. I have s21u and night mode is is almost like a dawn not night. I see s22u even more brighter photos. Really i don't now if is good that.
S22 shot of Wind surfer at 7:13 looks almost like a CPL filter in that the water reflections are almost completely damped. Lens coatings? Whatever it is, it is spectacular!
It completely ruined that image. Too smooth and un-natural. Their going to need that as a fix. Atleast with the s21 you get the waters detail and can use a app to smooth. S22 you can't add the detail and your only left with overly smooth. Hopefully next year's model is corrected.

All these differences can be easily fixed in s21 ultra by providing camera software update.
So Frankly speaking, there is really no huge difference between two phones.

Not really. You can clearly see how much better quality in the physical material of the lenses are on the S22 Ultra's tele cameras. The colors of the S21's 3x and 10x zoom are all washed out, bokeh looks mushy, shadow areas are murky and bright spots have so much aberration. I've been using both phones and I say the tele lenses of the S22 Ultra is wayy better when it comes to the final image quality: sharpness, colors, bokeh rendering, OIS and contrast. Everything is so much better.
@@thisiscuvo that's great, man, but what about the most popular lens- the wide lens? S21U regularly beats it in daytime scenario. S22U sometimes makes edges of the photo blurry because of the wider 23 mm lens compared to 24 mm on s21u.

What bothers me about these comparisons is that almost NO ONE is upgrading year to year. These comparisons should be with the Note 20 Ultra or the S20 etc.
Not much of a difference across the board, and I don't prioritize shooting at night. I assume that future updates will increase the effectiveness of the already effective S21 Ultra. No need for me to update to the S22 at this time.

For zooming in 9: 16 I personally use.

Why are you saying it's the same 108mp sensor since the S20U, when it's not? It's the third gen HM3 and it has larger pixels..
It is the same lens just third gen with minor updates, a bit like the SD888 and SDX888+, not really new gen just update. I think since it came out things have moved on and maybe next year Samsung will use an all new and improved lens.
