Ah yes, the flying chicken badge. I always give my badge a little polish occasionally. (Kamiq owner here) The new name badge is probably part of the new design elements. I don't mind it personally..... As with most Skoda's, it's the little design details that add to the practicality. Who would have thought of a net on the underside of the rear parcel shelf, to store the charging cable? My new 2001 Fabia Tdi Estate was the first car I'd seen with little hooks in the boot for carrier bags, and little sliding storage drawers under the front seats.....boy could that car move, even on 100 bhp. A friend of mine who drove it seemed convinced it had the 130 bhp diesel in it.... Oddly, my Kamiq, with 110 bhp doesn't *feel* as nippy, although it is much quieter and smoother than the Fabia was. But then I am almost 70 years old, so perhaps it's that.....

I’ve had a smaller car, a Peugeot e208 as a company car for 2 years. The list price of it is £35,000! Two years on, you’ve got cars like this and the EV3 at that price point and lots coming out around £25,000 next year around my e208 size.
Just goes to show the rate of progress with EV’s. Yes they are still expensive cars, but we really are getting to proper price parity now. Will certainly consider an Elroq when changing next year.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it - it's a slightly smaller enyaq with a bit of a front end face lift. I've had my enyaq 80x for a year now......fantastic car........coupled with the fact that I live in Norway (meaning the charging network is more than adequate) results in the enyaq ticking just about every box that I will ever care about. Special mention has to go to the heads up display. I wasn't sure about opting for it, but would absolutely recommend it. I've driven a lot of different cars in the last 10 years and this is the only one where I haven't turned the lane assist off immediately........some of the credit has to go to the heads up display for that. Although the enyaq's lane assist is by no means aggressive like many others, the AR yellow lines that come up in the windscreen give the driver a fantastic visual indication that the lane assist is about to activate. So you're not suddenly fighting with the steering wheel for some unknown reason ;-)

How similar? Like dimensionally? The Ford Explorer is completely different inside and out. The infotainment doesn't stick out of the dash. And most importantly, it offers a 79 kWh battery with an upgraded BMS, albeit only for the four-wheel drive. That's a battery that the Elroq doesn't seem to offer.

I am afraid VW/Audi have lost me as a client until they euthanase their Cariad software division, something which seems to be in hand. That said Skoda seem to have tamed the worst of the UI/UX experience with proper buttons and not too much shiny stuff. I like the clever design features such as the cable storage below the rear shelf. I doubt I would want any of the range, but if you need this sort of thing it looks value for money. Just not much fun.

Clever, an umbrella stored where it'll retain moisture, and get you wet getting access to it in the first place. You can't quickly get it up if you've first got to open the door, pull it out while standing outside in order to reach it, get back in, extract it from the bag, then erect the umbrella. Did they test this? It would need to be accessible in the cabin.

I wonder what this releasing will do to prices of used Enyaqs. We currently have a used (2020) Karoq and have been waiting for the Elroq to be revealed.
It looks more or less every bit the Karoq except for Range. My Karoq gets around 340 miles reliably on a tank, so given the quoted range of 340 miles EV, I imagine a more realistic range of 270 can be expected which is still very good 'don't think about it' range for an EV!
I still get a little bit disappointed that the glory Skoda days of 'lets just outperform VW and outcompete our sister on price' are over though. Imagine how popular this car would be if it was priced at the same cost as the MG4? (One of the European automakers has to break ranks eventually and offer a crossover SUV at a sensible price :D)
I think the styling is great. A mini Enyaq is more or less perfect for us as a 1 child, 1 dog family. I think it will be really interesting to see how many people buy this over a used Enyaq at a much lesser price...

Looks as if they've gone and made the cupholders too small for a standard Contigo mug again, just like the Enyaq. Why? Skodas used to have usable cupholders. Renault Scenic has one usable cupholder in an inconvenient position (plus firm ride and disappointing efficiency) . Ford Explorer has excellent cupholders in just the right place, as do Kona and Niro. It looks as if the EV3 has badly placed cupholders because they've put a tray right where you want them to be - I'll be checking that out next week. Kona and Explorer have decent space, are comfortable and nice to drive and reasonably efficient, and Kona has a heat pump as standard. For me, that's what Elroq and EV3 have to beat.

If I get past my hang ups on the Skoda brand itself, I love their new design aesthetic. Externally, this is probably the cool brand in the VAG now, maybe vying for it with Cupra.
But the interior puts me off massively. I'm so fed up of manufacturers slapping the centre screen on like an after thought. I don't want any new car at the moment because of this.
Come on interior designers. You're making the exteriors of EVs look great these days, but you've forgotten that we sit in them and look at the interior much more than the exterior.

Another thoughtful and sensibly designed Skoda that again rather overshadows its VW cousins. Why pay more for less? The bigger battery version could displace the Hyundai Kona as the default EV crossover of this size - it is certainly better looking. Hopefully the Elroq will give the VW EV line up a real shot in the arm as on the basis of this review it looks to be all round better proposition than the ID.3.

They had to do it to get below the price of the EV3 and EX30. Price is often the first parameter that people who aren't interested in cars compare them on. If they had higher prices than these, many people wouldn't even care about the details of the offer.
